SAG 2010 Nominations!

December 17, 2009 — Leave a comment

Yes, more nominations! More awards… get a grip. This is the Screen Actors Guild Awards~

The round up? Very few surprises… Up in the Air, Precious, and Inglourious Basterds got 3 nods… the most between movies. The one nod that’s a bit weird is Nine, which got only a nod for acting to then get the Best Ensemble? Since it’s an acting award… the Best Ensemble IS Best Film. Get it?

On the TV categories… 30 Rock, The Closer and Dexter *jumpy bloody claps* got 3 nods each too. Also! Jumpy claps for Glee who got a nod on the Comedy Ensemble!!! Yay!

And YAY! Toni Collette!!!

And the nominations and winners continue, this time with the Chicago Critics’ nominations (and tomorrow with the SAG nominations). It is a busy time.

Leading the nominees with six is one of the many awards favorites, Jason Reitman’s Up In The Air. But hold on just a moment. It has a co-pilot. Also riding a wave of six nominations is Spike Jonze’s adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are,

Joining both films in the Best Picture race from Chicago are Kathryn Bigelow’s The Hurt Locker, Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds (each with five nominations) and Joel & Ethan Coen’s A Serious Man with 4.

some nice changes and surprises!

Nominations are in! Just with a quick look, I’ve only seen 60% of the nominees, so I’m excited to see the rest. Looking good for some of those peoples there. Not really big surprises, except for a couple double nominations  and one double nomination in a category… and some new names in the Foreign category.

My scandalous and ironic side says Peruvians will hate Chile even more (for unnecessary issues) – dearest The Milk of Sorrow didn’t make it to the list.

Also! Jumpy claps for Glee!! and Jumpy bloody hands for Dexter!!

More nominations. Are you keeping up?

These nominations seem like a pretty random bunch. Especially considering Nine has had little to no love until now… with 10 nominations (a big WEEEE for Marion!!), and also finally some love true for Inglourious Basterds~

I think Julz is going to be VERY happy.

The National Board of Review named Up in the Air as the best film of the year. And like the Examiner mentions on its article… is this backlash against Mo’Nique’s refusal to promote the film and piss on her Oscar chances? Woah, that’s like a mafia. LOL

Clint Eastwood was named Best Director for Invictus, but like The Envelope says… Eastwood is a NBR fave. It really IS like a mafia~~~

We have actually already spotted Carey Mulligan on this site, and she’s on the #5 spot of the list of 20 Actors Between 20-25 to Watch Until They’re 30… on the Actress list.

Carey Mulligan

Man, what a year Carey Mulligan has had, and with award season coming our way, we can only wait to see her more often, and everywhere. As of Oct. 15, Mulligan still leads the Oscar for Best Actress race for her role on An Education, and it’s been that way since July… and ever since the film premiered at Sundance.

She seems to capture your attention on screen, even in small roles like on My Boy Jack (with fellow The 20 to Watch Daniel Radcliffe), and she seems to have a certain maturity on screen that doesn’t make you think “oh, look at this girl,” but it’s more like “look at this woman.”

If she wins Best Actress (or just gets nominated), that’s enough reason to keep an eye on her future roles.

Carey Mulligan Searches~

There’s been a sudden search for Carey Mulligan on this site, and now I know why. However, I’m not going to be talking about it because it deals with her personal life, and to be honest… why was this important? Not that she’s not important, it’s just the whole who she is/might/not might be dating.

Yes, I know. I’m being a hypocrite, but I’ve been trying to cut down on gossip on some actors and actresses.  Plus, you should all be focusing in the fact that she is still leading (until aug 24th) the Lead Actress race for the Oscar! And not because she’s been photographed with this actor, and all the fangirls are searching for the competition xD

You should just be approving. LOL
Just watch the An Education Trailer~

YAM005

In it, you’ll read more about Harry Potter 6 (against much of anyone’s Harmonian hearts, lol), Transformers 2, Moon (yeah, that last line kills me), and Public Enemies~ Snap! There’s also DBSK concert review, SNSD (which I always get a typo), Bibi, Seo Taiji, Clazziquai, Popular and more~~~

Head over here to download~~~

Hello there, Carey Mulligan!
And Emma Thompson, and Olivia Williams…
and Peter Sarsgaard and Alfred Molina – LOL

Looks a bit on the sappy side, but even like that seems worth a look. I loved About a Boy and High Fidelity xD – In the meantime, if you intend to watch this… please also check out Precious (aka. Push) – it will be at the Gala at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Also there…

Kore-eda’s Air Doll with Doona Bae!!!! *squee*
and Bong Joon-ho’s Mother
xD

Carey Mulligan

That is a photo of Carey Mulligan looking a bit different, but a pretty cool photograph. Who’s Carey Mulligan, you say? Well, I first spotted her as Elsie on My Boy Jack (starring Daniel Radcliffe), but truth be told~ I couldn’t pay much attention to it until her scenes came up.

Where else have you seen her? She was also Kitty on Pride & Prejudice (the one with Keira), and Doctor Who as Sally Sparrow. And she seems to be having a pretty busy 2009~~~ with The Greatest (with Susan Sarandon), Public Enemies (with Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Marion Cotillard~~~ Ooh la!), Brothers (with Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Natalie Portman~~~ another Ooh la!), and An Education (by writer Nick Hornby) – in fact, I was checking out The Awards Circuit, and turns out they have her listed for this film as a Best Actress Nomination until now!

Now that’s pretty impressive.

Next-next up for her? Never Let Me Go (by Kazuo Ishiguro… with Keira, and Sally Hawkins) and The Electric Slide (with Ewan McGregor).

Ooh la~~~
