Archives For glee

I’ve got some pretty nice recommendations to share.

We’re always bombarded with news at how the music (and movies, and everything else) industry is losing money to piracy, even though we keep hearing all these facts about how Glee has had more songs charted than The Beatles.

When Sarah, from the Music Production Schools’ design team, emailed me this infographic depicting all these facts onto one place… is hard not to share, right?

I won’t lie to you, the numbers are good — though I really don’t know how that works with adjusted inflation — but the numbers also make me sad. To imagine Katy Perry standing on similar ground as MJ or Flo Rida standing on similar ground to The Beatles… or Ke$ha selling MORE than The Beatles. It’s depressing.

Mainly because there are MUCH better artists out there, and half the world haven’t even heard about them. I think it’s a crime that everyone knows Katy Perry, but it’d be rare if someone knows who Shiina Ringo is.

In any case, this is an infographic about sales~ so there you have it.

Here’s another confession for the LGBT Blogathon~

What was once changed through literature, shaping individuals through writing, is now — kinda sadly — shaped through what we watch from television (and movies) because nobody reads anymore.

And so the medium of television becomes the ever important outlet for LGBT themes.

Television is free — though some people beg to differ — it reaches millions and millions of people through different channels around the world in many languages. Unlike film — you know, the one you pay for to enter a theater or catch at your local film festival — a lot more people watch television, and through it, sometimes watch film — see, television is so powerful even if you don’t watch it.

It is now, in our day and age (without counting the interwebs), that television plays a strong role into shaping the minds of the future generation of adults — that’s counting me, by the way… I’m not that old — who will hopefully grow into people who just won’t care whether you’re gay or straight or bi or transsexual. A generation that will ask about the need to add a “LGBT” genre tag when… it’s all normal!

Pride Bunting

This is my case. I came to know about LGBT issues because of television, which later prompted me to search online and then my world exploded with LGBT entertainment.

My purty iTunes Library~

April 22, 2011 — 4 Comments

I’m a dork, you can’t deny it.

I’m a dork, and I’m proud of my -mostly- tidied up iTunes library.

As with my CDs, and my DVDs… a little bit of books, and mostly with computer files, I like to know where my things are. Of course, iTunes makes it way easy to keep things organized with their “copy to folder” and “keep things organized” options, but then we’ve got album covers, song names, artists names… and music can get a little messy.

So says the girl that wrote an essay on Numerology and a certain Harry Potter subject. *cough* LOL Anyway… moving on! You know I’ve got fandoms… I’ve gotten into shipping fandoms, but never got as “bad” as those HP days.

I was browsing the web, and ended up in LiveJournal — the place where all fandoms seem to end — and I found Rachel/Quinn shippers? How did that happen? Well, you need not to wonder. They will explain to you episode by episode… in a rather very detailed and impressive way.

I’m even a little converted. Though, I attribute many of those moments to Diana Agron letting go off Quinn’s bitchiness in a musical number — some may call those character inconsistencies — but they work in a very ironic kind of way.

I love love love Ryan Murphy with all my heart because of Popular, but he’s really not the King of Subtleties… if you must know. How can you not know that? It must have hit you in the face by now that Murphy likes it big and loud. Those Quinn/Rachel moments are too subtle to be meant to. Attribute those to happy accidents.

But they work. My gawd, Quinn/Dianna stares a lot at Rachel/Lea. And it had never crossed my mind that all of Quinn’s musical numbers, real or in her imagination, have her surrounded by females. Plus, the number with the cheerleaders in football uniforms.

If slowly developed, I can totally buy it.

The dedication of that post, however, is what made me write this post. I miss that crazy passion that fandom can create. I don’t know if that crazy passion should come with the crazy disappointment, though. I don’t think I can take another fandom heartbreak.

I really meant to post this sooner.

Remember that Glee episode in which we have a flashback of Kurt as a kid with his dad? That was amazing casting, and just to test my theory, I screencapped some bits and showed them to my mother. Her verdict? She thought it was really Chris Colfer as a kid!

So kudos with the casting on this one:
Eric Dawson, Carol Kritzer & Robert J. Ulrich ~~~

The Disgusting Dog Challenge!

December 23, 2010 — 5 Comments

Have been challenged by Joel~

Puppy jam :)

I generally don’t like animals because the smell bothers me, and the licking. I don’t plan to have a photo of a gross dog in here, so cute puppy dog has to do ;P

So let’s start with it, shall we?

Once again, sorry for the late post ;P

Some surprises… good surprises, and just “where did that come from” surprises~

First, YAY! John Hawkes for Winter’s Bone, who’s been just laying low since the start of the award season. However, where did Hilary Swank for Conviction come from? xD

Though, The Social Network seems to be the favorite of the season – cough, not that great – it only earned Jesse Eisenberg Lead Actor. Instead, the rest of the Cast nominated films — Black Swan, The Fighter, The Kids Are All Right and The King’s Speech — got noms in all the rest categories.

I think I would have given The Social Network’s cast nomination to Winter’s Bone ;P

Also! Craig made me realized that they’ve snubbed Ryan Gosling and Michelle Wiliams – and Blue Valentine. Mmmkay… what’s up with that? But… YAY, Chris Colfer xD

Couldn’t resist to use this image as the main film here xD

Can’t help myself, and I haven’t even seen The Tourist. Look, I love movie stars… I’m sure I’m going to go “oh, it isn’t THAT bad” but I can even say when things should be awarded or not. xD But then again… ratings~

I’m just glad Timberlake wasn’t nominated in anything.

And since we’re speaking about out of their league: Lea Michelle for Glee is completely out of her league in her category against Toni Collette, Edie Falco, Tina Fey and Laura Linney. Look, I love Glee – don’t really watch 30 Rock, didn’t warm up to Laura Linney in The Big C, don’t like Edie Falco’s Nurse Jackie character, didn’t completely loved Season 2 of United States of Tara – but Lea Michelle is out of her league. xD

Toni Collette FTW!

Because the list is oh so long, just posting film…
