  • Cartoon Network 20th Birthday by ILoveDust

Holy mother of… Cartoon Network in 20 years old, and they’re celebrating big with this video reuniting 20-years-worth of CN characters. I recognize most of them (even if it’s not by name), but I wish there was more variety of characters shown (I know, I know… not really practical), but there should have been more of the older characters in Cartoon Cartoon’s old day past.

The Cartoon Network YouTube Channel is not available to me :(

  • Ace’s El Misterio del Sostén Percudido by Leo Burnett

So I have a complaint… I always get crappy detergent commercials — the Sapolio detergent Principe commercial suck, and it sucks even harder that women aren’t offended by them, as if women’s only thought in their heads was just to get a man after they’re done with laundry.

But then a couple of weeks ago, I saw Camucha Negrete’s face on a Twitter Ace promoted tweet. Then my mother came to me saying she’s seen the funniest detergent commercial since Ariel’s Chaca Chaca [clip] in the late 70s, which according to a comment on YouTube [1]:

el concepto se creo en México, en los años sesentas, fue Noble y Asociados con la primer Vicepresidenta Creativa, la publicista mexicana Cristina Gutiérrez de la Sierra quien inventó la frase y la hizo fuerte, después, la misma agencia de publicidad llevo el concepto a otros países de latinoamérica. De hecho dicen que ella escribía de una sentada las ideas y frases y es creadora de decenas de conceptos arraigados a la cultura latinoamericana.

Was a concept created in Mexico.

So it’s really no surprise at all that Ace, in all its region in Latin America, has employed the help of the Leo Burnett agency [1] to develop the concept of O Mistério Ace (The Ace Mystery) — for Brazil — or El Misterio del Sostén (The Bra Mystery), which stems from the fact that all Latin American countries have strong Telenovela roots. According to my search, the Brazilian version seems to have come by first with an array of different Portuguese Brazilian accent dubs [1] [2] [3] [4] [5], and the concept has now just made their debuts in different Spanish Latino versions from Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia and Peru.

Note: The Chile version seems to be the same to the Argentina according to the uploads on the Ace Chile YouTube Channel.

In the commercial, the “mother-in-law” (played in the Peruvian version by Camucha Negrete, and different actresses in the others) finds a tarnished bra in her son’s room. Thinking it belongs to her son’s girl, she storms into a restaurant telling her son off, as well as suggesting her “daughter-in-law” to use Ace because it keeps whites clear.

    Things then get complicated.

I don’t know how “viral” a detergent commercial can get considering the core of Telenovela audiences aren’t usually hooked online. But it’s a good commercial, nonetheless.

  • The Voice of China: My Top4

This is it. This is why I don’t follow reality TV contests, and this is my final posting on The Voice of China, which I had greatly enjoyed at the beginning for its variety in music styles.

But after a few episodes that tended to be on the frustrating side… I just… can’t take it any longer. I think the final is next episode (and Adam Lambert is supposed to be on). It was a good ride, but I do not wish to see the ending to this.

This is my line-up to the Top4:

  • Dishonored by Psyop

This, you have to admit, is pretty darn good-looking.

Psyop is doing a series — in all honesty, it’s only three webisodes — as prequel to a video game, and decided to do the animation by hand with some 3D enhancements.

  • Chen Man on the Future

I believe that to change the future we cannot rely on the individual, but rather a collective force. Together we can change an individual’s way of life, as well as change the world.

  • Hebe to be Assimilated not Consumed~

If you were hurt by her very painfully, please, thank her well-intentioned torture. If you feel like you have wronged her, please, thank her gracious tears that flowed. Before we meet and fall in love, it’s all because of her that you’ve matured.

If you feel lonesome right now, please, thank this beautiful intermission. If you are still acting wrongly in love, please, be thankful for not finding me yet. It’s only after we finish walking through all the winding roads that we can finally know what love really is.

    My Love.

If it’s celebrated successfully that I’m worth obtaining, please, thank that I was once let go. If I’m admired for my strong yet gentle nature, please, thank that precious hurtful wound. After we meet and fall in love, all regrets will turn into rewards. When we finally find one another in a tight embrace, all the distress and hardship will turn into the sweetest ending, so just let us patiently wander because love will come for sure – at the right moment.

Ahhhh… Tokyo. What I wouldn’t give to visit that once in a lifetime…

  • The Voice of China: Three Days and Three Nights of Black or White!

I gotta admit that with Wang Feng being Na Ying’s coach, I thought I was going to get blown away by everyone’s performances, but seems like expectations were too high. Plus, YouTube cockblocking my watching.

Since Wang Feng was there to coach too, all of the arrangments had a lot (or, at least, a little) to do with some aspect of rock — be it rock & roll or plain rock (except for Zhang Yu Xia’s battle) — so, in the end, there was a lot of A-Mei being played and there was some extra Wang Feng going on too.

Anyway, there were only a couple of standout performances, and considering my favorites on Na Ying’s team from the beginning were Zhang Wei (张玮) [1] and Zhang Yu Xia (張玉霞) [1], I am rather ecstatic and sad. Super elated for the fact that Zhang Wei has a very good chance of being the Top4 (and may very well be the winner), and sad because Zhang Yu Xia — despite her flawless The Legend (传奇) performance in a battle vs. Li Min (李敏) — couldn’t advance any further. T_T

But, DUDE! The Zhang Wei and Ge Yu Sen (歌浴森) battle doing A-Mei’s Three Days and Three Nights (三天三 夜) was great~ Like, couldn’t pick between the two, and I was almost siding with Ge Yu Sen, but would have been perfectly content if either of those two won.

  • Yu Meets Right On~

So Yu-chan has short hair for reals! She sports her new look in the new commercial for Right On and everyone is tweeting the hashtag #yumeetsrighton (if you’re interested in checking it out).

Yu is also all over the 2012 Fall/Winter catalog for the company xD, and she’ll also be sporting this new look in the cover issue of November 2012 of Mina Magazine.

The Right On YouTube channel also has a brief “interview” with Yu, as well as a short Making Of the CM. You can also browse their website~

  • Michael Jackson’s VMA Legacy

You know you’re fucking awesome when you lipsync through a whole show and nobody gives a shit, because it’s still awesome. Though, I would argue that MJ should’ve stopped his performance in Dangerous.

Not since Michael Jackson began dazzling the pop music stage has there been any other pop act that has been able to define dancing the way Michael did. To this day and age, when dance pop music (in America) is stale, and Korea gives me pretty choreographed skill [1] — there’s still no one bringing anything new to the pop table.

    You’re still missed MJ.
