Archives For Music Videos

I am obsessed with this music video… as you can see since I’m posting it here AND posting it in YAM Magazine. And especially now that I found that BOUNCE has a newly opened YouTube account that I hope doesn’t go POOF because of some wonk copyright issue.

I mean, this video is beauuuuuutiful in HD. And the song has rapidly grown on me — haven’t heard the album yet, but from all the singles released… it feels like this is one of the few songs that I can truly say WOW.

I know about Stefanie Sun, but I had never been actively interested in listening to her music. Like many of the Asian artists I followed, I saw her in the Beijing Welcomes You MV that came out for the Olympics… but then, I was more taken by that little girl in kind of a tux and glasses with the deep voice. Stephanie Sun is there — so young and cute, that it just never registered.

Call it a surprise to know that she’s got 12 albums, and that she’s 32. Amazing. I have become so cliché that whenever I ask my mom “guess how old this and that is” She just knows now. She knows when to add age, and when to subtract it. No fun anymore. xD

Here you go, watch the video – glorious HD.

Also, as a side note. You wouldn’t believe how LONG it took me to get the director’s name in characters and then figure out it’s BOUNCE who also directed MISSTER‘s Super Lover video. I was so crazy about this video, that I went name-hunting instead of doing my Chinese homework. LOL

After DBSK pretty rocking dance tune of Keep your Head Down, the guys decided to release — alongside a repackaged version of their album — the single for Before U Go with a music video styled as a slick action crime drama. The regular 5min. version of the video is actually pretty interesting, because it’s packed with some fighting, and some sort of story that we can follow.

It’s like the teaser of a quality Korean drama. LOL

And then… they decided to release the long-form video. I like to talk about it when MVs get turned to short films. So we must talk about it. Yes, the long version is still pretty slick, but there’s one BIG problem.

The remaining DBSK guys Yunho and Changming end up the 16min run of the MV looking like lousy one-dimensional goodies, while the baddie is an anti-hero. I actually felt a lot worse for him than the “good” guys. What’s up with that?

I grew up with a song by Vico C called Me Acuerdo, which was on constant rotation those days when we still listened to the radio. I listen to that song, and I immediately think of those days.

So when clicking on the video for Ken the 390 titled 壊れやすいもの (Koware Yasui Mono) – Breakable, it brought me back to that song. Must be the male vocal, the slow hip hop thing, and the female backing vocals.

I thought I should re-post from here.

And I get to fangirl here.

I knew this had to become a single. Surprised that Bibi’s English is so well-pronounced. I mean, we got a tiny official peek when she sang those bits in English on her song Seasons from the Time album, which has a super soft tone to it, so easy to listen to and so lovely.

But in I Miss U Missing Me she goes all power ballad on me xD

The video is eh… eclectic for a power ballad. But I can dig the color palette, though I don’t get the circus and carousel theme.

This is the best I’m going to get from Lily. A new song.

For those of you who don’t know, Lily Chou Chou is the fictional singer portrayed in Shunji Iwai’s film All About Lily Chou Chou. Lily was played by Salyu on the film, and there was an album released under that artist name. This is the only new material ever since the film was released… and it’s even rare to get to hear the Lily songs in a Salyu concert.

If you haven’t watched All About Lily Chou Chou, it is a rough experience.

Visitor Uzaigaijin kept me posted on the status of her concert ticket, and she messaged me saying she got one! So she will be writing a review of Lily Chou Chou’s concert this week for YAM Magazine. ;P

I’m excited and jealous. xD

Wow, pretty good, and a much better balance between music video/music than M.I.A’s Born Free.

You know? I prefer Arcade Fire music with music videos. I’ve never been able to just listen to an Arcade Fire album, I always have to be doing something else. Their music videos make me appreciate their music much more.

This video for The Suburbs is directed by Spike Jonze, and there will be a short film release… apparently. But we’re going to have to wait for December 20th for that one. Looks pretty promising. Beautiful sad.

I think it’s safe to admit that OK Go has the 2010 title of best set of music videos. First of with the incredible-blowing-your-mind This Too Shall Pass, followed by the pretty good End Love, followed by the doggies on White Knuckles… and now~

A video with some 30 toasts per second~

This Too Shall Pass still remains the best of the year, I think – and the year is almost done.

You guys~~~ your music makes me really silly-grin happy

Anyone know where I can buy their albums? I know you can buy their debut over at the Modern Sky website, but buying through it is a hassle because they don’t have other payment method than wire transfer… which sucks, but understandble since there’s no Paypal~

Okay, this is bordering on Spam~

But Raiou opened on Friday (it’s been more than half the day in Japan already). So there’s been a lot of news naturally, and I hope there are more reviews… super-hoping in English. xD

You know I’ve been listening to Maika’s album right? That she reminds me of Shakira, and I’ve been pimping some of Maika on YAM [1][never never never give up]. Also OFF-TOPIC, but this made me realize Twitter needs a search your tweets feature.

Anyway, this is Kokoro… but 2 minutes longer =D So more Yu and Msaki Okada singing. LOL

G asked me about Ga-In — sorry, only in Spanish — and wondered if she was my favorite Brown Eyed Girl member. And yes, yes she is indeed. Though I didn’t love or adored her EP debut, it was very interesting to me in terms of style. It sounded very Argentina. To sum it all up, the music video is also very passionate Tango.

First of all, Ga-In seems to be enjoying all the body groping. I suspect it started with Abracadabra. LOL Plus she goes all “Music-Vid Turned Short Film” on us with a running time of over 10min. that includes tragic love, tears, face-scratching, dramatic walking away while the girl gropes your leg (very Latin passion, btw), suicide attempts, and some pop version of Tango dancing (Tanging?) in the desert.

I’m gonna actually show the video to my mom and dad — who also enjoy Kpop, btw. My mom likes to point out that Korean girl groups have better legs than Japanese girl groups. LOL She’s picky with the Asian chicken legs xD or how my friend calls them – the drumsticks. LOL

Anyway, I’d like to know what they think about this parrilla argentina.
