Aya Ueto is like the most popular idol in Japan. She’s got like a gazillion of sponsors, and seems to top every popularity list the internet in Japan can come up with. Quentin Tarantino even played her uncle. LOL
The only possibility for you to have seen her in an American theater is that you got to see her on some random release of Azumi, in which she played a kick ass… or should I say a sword wielder assassin. Or maybe you have heard her voice if you saw the Japanese dub of the animated film Astro Boy, or heard her as the voice of Christina Ricci on Speed Racer. xD
Maybe you should check her out on NHK’s period drama Yoshitsune, where she played Utsubo the always-a-friend-but-never-a-lover of title character. Oh, and did I mention she also sings?
