Archives For japan

CinemaCafe has an interview [jp] with Yu Aoi about Otouto — recently released on DVD and Blu-Ray. If someone could give a proper translation of it, that would rock. In the meantime… some of what I think are interesting bits.

Title of the piece is Kotoba ni Dekinai “Kankaku” ga Kanojyo o Tsukiugokasu, which seems to be something like “It isn’t the words, it’s the emotions that motivates her”.

First sub-title, Ii Deai no Renki ni Megumaremashita, which is something like “Blessed with good encounters,” referring to the people she worked with in Otouto [Yoji Yamada, Sayuri Yoshinaga, Tsurube Shofukutei, Ryo Kase], plus I see mentions of Kyoko Koizumi [from Gakuya].

GAH! I really can’t translate more, but the following paragraphs seem interesting. Like the last one about balancing work and free time. My head hurts.

Here’s some more Yu photos =D Like the intro said something about her gentle smile.

YAM011 is READYYY!!!

August 15, 2010 — Leave a comment

I just spent nearly 2hrs. posting this somewhere else, and I still need to email everyone. LOL

Without further ado,

YAM011.

You’ll have to excuse my Japanese. Is the English translation “The Most Beautiful Me”? Okay, I had a listen to most of Nakashima’s discography, after I was totally team Nana xD She strikes me as a emotionless-goth sometimes, and then the other times she strikes me as a total emo. However, I kinda dig her music.

She sounds great on Ichiban Kirei na, and somehow with my understanding of the lyrics… they seemed kinda poetic. I mean, the kind of lyrics that I like from Asian songs in general. Like having to sing about “that time in winter” and stuff like that. I like it when songs talk about the seasons and the elements, hahaha.

I think this song is the theme for Unubore Deka.

Or also known as Love ~ I Won’t Say Goodbye ~ the emotional animation version.
Yes, it’s actually the “emotional animation version”.

How can the little pollitos make such a sad PV?

Right?

I’m gonna be honest with you. Kanon Wakeshima is not my type of music, her voice annoys me. However, I do find her video kind of pretty to look at… Lolita style is so visual. xD

And I do like when she plays the cello for like 2 seconds hahaha

I hate Kara as much as I hate SNSD — but that doesn’t keep me from singing along to Gee, okay? But I just found it funny that the video is of a Korean girl group doing a Japanese version of their song and their dance is all about shaking their money-makers. That somehow sounds all sorts of wrong.

By the way, you might have noticed that I’m actually posting more music videos, even if I don’t think much about them. Do you agree, or should I just post what I like? I think posting what I don’t like, and pointing out why I don’t like it would be a nice change for music discussion.

Thank you, J-Melo – The Oreskaband performance was pretty awesome.

I was zapping, when their sound caught my ear, so I went back to NHK. They sounded like Gwen Stefani had gotten together with the guys of Reel Big Fish, had some extra fun with Swing Girls, and ended up with a lovechild in Oreskaband.

And I’m always game for some Ska. And, OMG PAPAYA! I totally kept hearing “Papa Para Papaya” which in Spanish means “Dad for Papaya” LOL but I think the lyrics go “Papaya ga suki da Papaya” LOL and in their “Shake it up, baby” I keep hearing “Shaking a baby” which is even funnier.

Unubore Deka aired its 2nd episode on Friday. ;P

The show tells the story of a detective whose ex-girlfriend is now married to his newest co-worker. Now, for reasons unknown, he always ends up obsessed-in-love with women who turn out to have committed crimes. In the end, he always ends up asking them to choose between marriage to him, or being arrested… without much success for him in his love life.

Well, that’s the best thing I can do without subs.

But no worries!

Unubore Deka is getting subbed by TOMAlicious Fansubs in hardsubs English, Suu no Command in hardsubs Spanish, Haniko’s Fansubs in Hungarian, and Asia Powa Fansubs in French~

In this week’s episode, Yu plays Konuma Setsuko, who appears to be your everyday masseuse. One day Unubore ends up in the massage parlor she works in, and falls in love just by her touch.

A lot of kinky stuff going on.

Turns out BeeTV has a YouTube Channel.

And they have the first episode (lasting nearly 5min.), but it was uploaded in March – possibly right after mobile broadcast – but other episodes haven’t been uploaded since then.

I am considering purchasing the newest release by Monkey Majik for their 10th anniversary. There’s the Japan Normal edition at $32 USD, and the Japanese First Press Edition which comes with a DVD for $43 USD.

Of course, if you don’t know – Monkey Majik has just gotten their Guiness World Record for longest On Air commercial, for the CM they did for this Best of Album… which lasts 30min — the commercial, not the album. But trust me, it’s so worth watching it, when you get the time. They’re pretty awesome, even with their funny Japanese.

Anyway, this Best Of album contains 3 new songs, titled Forever, Fast Forward, and Daijoubu. Forever is such a great song, the video totally plays to the little heart. I think it even works better than Canada’s attempt to help Haiti with Waivin’ Flag (though that was a pretty good song by K’naan, it got overplayed for this and the World Cup), and it totally beats the remake of We Are the World.

So here we go, Goran kudasai! Douzo~
