Archives For Fun

I have been watching one of the latest Japanese Dramas (JDrama), Last Friends… or RASUTO FURENZU as its read Katakana name. It is the first Asian drama I have seen (Chinese, Korean… or any other) – and despite the fact that I have seen my fair amount of Asian films, or listened to music in an Asiatic language. Last Friends is my first EVER Asian Soap… or as I call it, my AsiaNovela.

Last Thursday, we saw the fifth episode… so I have been roughly watching this weekly for the past month, and I can’t wait for more! Continue Reading…

All the way back in September, I made a small list of some of my favorite actresses that people didn’t have idea who they were. But I don’t seem to have the same knack for spotting unknown names for male actors… funny, eh? I just realized this when making this list. Since most of the names are probably known, will post them from the ones I think are less known to the most known. And notice? No TV stars that I can recall~ WEIRD.

*EDIT*
How could I forget him??? Just added him on the first spot of actors that you probably don’t know.

The date, September 1999… It was a Wednesday on The WB channel. I was getting ready to watch a new episode of Charmed, because I was (and still am) a fan of the supernatural. So as I used to do, turned on the TV at 7-ish in the evening, while doing some homework… re-runs of Friends and Caroline in the City would be on, and I would watch more than doing my actual homework, ha! – But that day… 29th of September (according to Wikipedia), Popular began. It was 8 pm. I’m guessing, and the show began as two ‘teens’ began talking in a diner. Summer vacations were over, and both were discussing the issues of teenage beauty. Is Sam foxier than Brooke McQueen??

Hey, guys~ Am watching Ep11 at this moment. I think this might be my last post on Dancing with the Stars, for obvious reasons, non? Well, I do hope you voted for Marlee because 7 votes is a lot. Last Monday’s episode had a few cute and funny moments with Marissa Jaret Winokur, Cristian de la Fuente, and Kristi Yamaguchi.

Marissa always makes me smile, lol… with comments like she’s “more like a moth,” in response to being like a butterfly for the Viennese Waltz, and her flipping out with her scores. And her saying that she’s only seen 9s in rehearsals, pretending… ha!

And I enjoy the Latin American and Asians representing… Kristi rocked it with her Jive, and her flipping out was funny too.

Won’t upload videos this time, but will post captures of favorites:

Updating this list!

Since the update on March 18 (just a month ago! Wow, I’m so exact~~), these are the films I’ve seen:

I was watching a re-run of How to Eat Fried Worms, and noticed a couple of known kid faces. Like Hallie Kate Eisenberg (most known as the Pepsi girl… or from the movie Paulie, LOL) – Alexander Gould from Weeds… well, I know him from there anyway. And… Ryan Malgarini who I know from The Hot Chick (he played the little brother, ha!). Anyway, it got me thinking that I couldn’t really think of any boy actor who wows me at the moment. I mean, when you think of child actors nowadays, you can immediately name Abigail Breslin (aka. Little Miss Sunshine)… or Dakota Fanning. In my case, I would also mention Jodelle Ferland of course~~

I cannot utterly believe WHY I’m posting this, but… while rummaging through my dusty albums, I discovered the first album I ever EVER bought, back when I was 10? This is WHY we love the early to mid-90’s because the 90’s were tacky… if the 80’s were tacky in American and the rest of the world, we certainly caught up in the 90’s, people.

For past reasons of why they ruled, check the following links:

Part I
Part II
Part III (Disney Edition)
Part IV (Ruth rules Edition)

Forget about leg-warmers, puffy hair and big glasses… though Beals and Matlin certainly blossomed. *tsk tsk* – My 90’s were tacky… flamboyant primary-colored suited boy bands waving and wooshing their flamboyant fans while singing Locomia, LOL’ Or velveted rancheras singing Querida… originally performed by my Latin version of Elton John, with Juan Gabriel. LOL’ But back to the album I found people… Continue Reading…

I got sanely obsessed with Bokeh today, because well… I had been trying to figure out how to make it, until today! Of course, Heart Bokeh is a crowd favorite… So~~~~

Bokeh craze + Sholly crazyness = a Sholly Bokeh Crazy Fanart.

Wonderfalls - Shows You Shoul\'ve Watched When They Were on the AirNot long ago, I got the opportunity to watch Wonderfalls. Some of the words that come to mind are “Brilliant!” or “Fudge you, Fox,” and “Buh-buh-buh buh-bye.” In these short couple of weeks, I have fallen in love with the now-canceled-Fox-show.

What’s the show about? It’s about Jaye Tyler. Now, if you LOVED watching Juno being Juno with all her Junoness, you’ll love Jaye because Jaye is the quintessential Juno. Many-a-times people find themselves in the extremes of loving/hating the puns, and the worldplay… but if you love it, you’ll enjoy Wonderfalls.

Jaye is a 24-year-old graduate from Brown University with a Psychology Degree, yet she finds herself over-educated and in a crappy job in a souvenir shop on the American side of Niagara Falls. She also finds herself working under the supervision of a mouth-breather who is still in high school… when one day inanimate objects shaped in the form of animals begin talking to her. Yes, Jaye is a crazy person… or maybe not?

Jaye, very much a la Joan of Arc, begins listening to these voices that tell her to do stuff in very cryptic messages, which often results in her getting into trouble or even helping people! She’s also joined by her not-not-a-sister (double negative there), her over-achiever-yet-living-at-home brother, her neurotic but caring mother, her nervous dad… Mahandra, her 1/8 Indian (native American) black woman friend, a cute-yet-heart-broken bartender, and a whole bunch of other funky and quirky characters that will surely make you snort throughout the 13 episodes.

Music Talk

March 24, 2008 — 2 Comments

Well, I was listening to some new music on my iPod, when I realized I haven’t talked about new music in a while. In fact, I haven’t changed my Deezer music player since Christmas, ha!

So this is some info on what I’ve been listening to:

  • LAST ALLIANCE (which I haven’t found the lyrics yet!)
  • Ingrid Michaelson – Girls and Boys
  • SoKo – No Sokute
  • Reel Big Fish (this really gets you going)
  • The Moldy Peaches (thank you, Juno… lol)
  • Kimya Dawson
  • Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballé
  • Feist (more songs of her)
  • The Mamas and the Papas, alongside with some Cass Elliot
  • The Eagles – Long Road Out of Eden
  • Freezepop – Swimming Pool is pretty awesome.
  • Kate Nash – Made of Bricks
  • Vampire Weekend – it’s pretty fun, but not as fun as Los Campesinos! xD
  • The Kooks – Konk
  • Melanie C… her music is not bad, but I’m feeling it’s missing an umph!
  • Au Revoir Simone – The Bird of Music… The Lucky One, oh the Sholly fan in me!

And some few more soundtracks~~

  • Enchanted – Gotta love Amy Adams singing The Happy Working Song.
  • August Rush – Raise it Up was pretty cool too.
  • Atonement – that damn typewriter! lol’
  • Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street – Pretty Women~~~~ I will have VENGEANCE!!!
  • Rent – The Motion Picture… though the version of La Vie Boheme sounds cooler in the Broadway version.
  • Selma Songs – The soudntrack for Dancer in the Dark
  • Les Chansons d’Amour soundtrack – the French film Love Songs. Pretty awesome stuff.

Happy music hunt!
