  • Imogen Heap’s Album 4 and Asia

    When did this begin?

I wasn’t a very HUGE fan of Imogen Heap’s last album Ellipse, but she is still more interesting than 95% of people out there. I got really excited with the first track, Xizi She Knows, because it partly reminds me of my Yat Yi Sam song… but you know, in Mandarin xD

That one and the Indian track one. xD

The first five tracks of the album are pretty good, I wonder when the album will be up for purchase.

  • Kalle Mattson – Thick as Thieves

Besides the style, which I love, I’m totally geeking out because it contains the evolution (and history) of the world. How many of these can you get made??? Quite educational, if I may say so~

  • Come On! Bay Bay! – All I Like Is You (But You Don’t Know)

    I love happy Taiwanese music.

This time around comes from Come On! Bay Bay! (來吧! 焙焙!) and this 2009 song, All I Like Is You (But You Don’t Know) (全世界我最喜歡你 (可是你都不知道)). Super cute love song!

  • Namie Amuro vs. Da Mouth – FIGHT!

So I was trying out some of Da Mouth’s music — some electro-ish hip-pop music quartet from Taiwan — and like I always do, I began listening to their official discography from their first album. It was all fine until I reached the song I Just Like You (我就是喜歡你), which began bothering me. A LOT.

My brain immediately connected it to Namie Amuro’s Girl Talk. And I don’t even like Namie Amuro — but at least I don’t hate her any longer. I had previously said that Girl Talk, released in 2004, reminded me a LOT of Janet Jackson’s Doesn’t Really Matter, released in 2000 [1]. However, this Da Mouth single, released after 2007, reminds me too much of Namie Amuro.

  • Faye Wong Performs New Song for New Year

See, this would be a mega-talent post if NHK would only let me embed Shiina Ringo’s performance at the latest Kouhaku, but no~~~ they gotta make things difficult.

Anyway, I think I may have died a little and gone to heaven. One of my wishes from last year may be coming true or something. Faye Wong singing new material — for New Year nonetheless — it’s like the creative muses got together and made Shiina Ringo and Faye Wong perform so close to one another, some babies may have been born with no talent at all because the concentration of it might be too much. LOL

as per usual with Faye Wong stuff, I have no idea what this song may be call except for Yuan (愿) which can mean “desire, wish, hope, willing, ready” — take your pick. You can listen to the studio version here.

The live version is… off, apparently Faye — diva and all – recognized she messed up a bit. I’m really blaming her time off stage, but it doesn’t matter… I can just LOOT AT HER. THAT STAGE. That stage is stunning beyond words. I can salivate looking at that stage and love that I can see it in high definition… there are just no proper words to describe it.

Thanks to Cfensi for the heads up.

  • Song Ji Eun (Secret) featuring Jepp – Going Crazy

With this posting you know where I’m going, right? LOL

Anyway, here are the lyrics and translation of Going Crazy (미친 거니).

I kinda like that this it backwards to the rap songs with the female vocals xD Going Crazy is a female vocal song with backing rap, which goes opposite to Eminem feat. Rihanna’s Love the Way You Lie [MV], or Vico C’s Me Acuerdo [1].

  • Marit Larsen – Coming Home

Julz is trying to make this happen, while I pull my non-existent hair waiting for the album by the end of the year thanks to Amazon delaying the expected date O_O

The first time I imported Under the Surface, which cost me like $40CND LOL, then Julz sent me The Chase. I think this is the first time I’m actually gonna wait for the album. I’m still debating that though…

  • Sodagreen – What is Troubling You

I gotta admit. I got a little choked up with this music video, and I’m totally pumped for Sodagreen’s upcoming new album… also titled What is Troubling You (你在煩惱什麼) — which, I have to admit~~~ comes at a bad time when Bibi is coming up with her new album and the Brown Eyed Girls are coming up with her nifty-licious repackaged Sixth Sense.

Did I tell you? I pre-ordered Sixth Sense and I ate it up like a sucker.

What makes me even more of a sucker, however, is that I had just pre-ordered the repackaged version too. Alongside Bibi’s new album.

Anyway, this new wonderfully sad and strangely uplifting music video comes from the brilliant mind of Muh Chen Yi Ren, from GrassJelly Studio — who also worked on my favorite Sodagreen MV… Incomparable Beauty [MV]. When these two get together, they make magic.

The lyrics seem… simple. I mean there’s not much lyrics… but I’m having issues with the double negative hahaha. I guess this is going to be my next Chinese class then!

    Pinyin will do until then!

  • Fierce Brown Eyed Girls – Sixth Sense MV

I think the director of Sixth Sense and Midnight Circus [1] might be my favorite director this year, though I gotta admit that Bounce is giving it a good run for its money with not only The Kingdom of Fools [1] and Hebe Tien’s My Love [1] and Joey Yung’s gorgeous MV hybrid with a perfume CM commercial, LOL – One Flower and a Thousand Tress [1].

But there’s just something really fierce about Sixth Sense spelling sex without being tacky, instead being completely fierce about it. I mean, Narsha did make me uncomfortable as she frolicked as a prisoner… but that was the only thing. The rest of the video/song was hard-hitting pizzazz… especially when we reach Miryo’s rap and she drops her verses adding the “grazie” and “gracias” — by the way, her “gracias” was almost on point perfect. xD

If you don’t know who directed Sixth Sense, why don’t you go to YAM Magazine and search for it.

I’m also considering buying my first ever mini-album… but it’s really costing me to go against my album etiquette. It’s like I’m going against everything I stood for all these years. Can I do it for BEG?

This is my list of Best 2011 MVs at the moment.

  • I can’t believe he said that~ Leehom Wang – Open Fire!

I’ve attempted to sing Leehom’s new song six times already. The first time I saw it and he reached those verses in English… somehow I was deeply moved. LOL But I really can’t believe he’s saying all of this on the song. It’s really quite explosive.

Also, the people complaining it sounds like Ke$ha – please, as if she has copyrighted autotuned vocals. Plus, Leehom sounds more Michael Jackson than anything, specially singing in English. And I’m fine with that, in fact… I kinda love the energy when he says those things.

On the rough — seriously, are you going to trust my Google translation abilities? — multi-language lyric translation and pinyin below the break!
