Archives For short film

An animated short about a cat who goes on a journey to save her lady-cat friend who’s been kidnapped to form part of The Piano Cat. Pretty awesome, especially the last part of the short. And it kinda gave me the feel of Moulin Rouge xD with the typewriter and all. Give it a look~

Directed by Eddie White & Ari Gibson

Winner of the Best Short at the LA Film Fest (2002), and the Student Emmy Award,
comes this stop-motion by Dan Blank about the shadows left behind after Hiroshima.
just make sure you have 15min to spare, and let it load before watching~~~

City Stories Shorts

August 25, 2009 — 2 Comments

Film Independent (alongside Banana Republic, and Vanity Fair) are currently showing a series of shorts, and you can vote for your favorite (if you are in the US, and are interested in a Banana Republic giveaway).

I can’t vote… or I’m not eligible for voting, but I can vote… but I don’t want Banana Republic stuff in my inbox. Anyway, I liked a few of the shorts – which you can watch on this website – particularly the one titled Steps.

Steps

Written by Marissa Jo Cerar, and directed by Barney Cheng.

I also have a soft spot for Three Times Me (boys are icky, *laughs* xD), and Foolishly Seeking True Love – and was it me, or were these shorts over-using French?

Anyway, check them out~ and vote for your favorite… or you know, if you don’t want to be spammed by Banana Republic, you can just leave your comment here xD

More stop-motion!

Pilfer.- to steal stealthily in small amounts and often again and again.

Now, if it were a bad-ass Peruvian version… it’d be Pigeon Pirañita~ LOL
Anyway, enjoy~~~

Check it out, yo!
Park Chan-Wook’s 1999 Simpan
Though make sure you can dispose of 30min of your time xD

It feels like FOREVER.
Just like Paris, Je t’Aime.
When did I first blog the trailer??

New York I Love You Poster

How do you feel about the poster? Better than the first image, I think. But Paris, Je t’Aime pawns.

Just like before, the collection of shorts has loads of people. Natalie Portman has two shorts in it, one as an actress on Mira Nair’s short, and one directing (exciting!) – most exciting? Shunji Iwai’s short!! Though it’s with Orlando Bloom, Shunji Iwai makes movie magic oftentimes~ And I’ve been waiting new Shunji Iwai films since… since… since Hana & Alice which was released in 2004.

Not like I waited since 2004, since I just discovered him. LOL

More Bibi PBs!

ZOMG!
a la Juri! DVD + Photobook!

Mainland pop star Zhou Bichang (a.k.a. BiBi) turns movie director! Since signing with her new record company, the 2005 Super Girl first runner-up has directed three shorts that were first released on the Internet. They are now collected on DVD, allowing fans to witness her developing visual creativity and narrative flair. The first one, “Hide and Seek”, was highly popular in the 3rd Global Awards of Chinese New Media competition. BiBi plays an angel in the second chapter “Angel’s Corner”, which expresses her concern for various social issues, while the final piece “One Half Each Person” is more self-reflecting.The DVD comes with a 210-page full-color photobook, in which the bespectacled singer appears entirely without makeup. The book also includes photos she has taken around the world, as well as excerpts from her diaries written between April to December of 2008.

Ooh la! Short films~~~

Kick like a Girl is a 30-min HBO documentary of a team of girls that play (NOT soccer) football that totally creamed the boys in a match… or something.

Back in my school days… I played football. I think I rocked it~~~ as a hobby of course. Back then, girls didn’t rock like this. I wish I had a girls football team T.T

When I was 10-ish, there was a school match… between girls, but I’m pretty sure I was the only one taking it ‘seriously’. I even had my friends over for a practice. You know, I used to play with my cousins… one of those things you do when all your cousins are guys you see~~~

Best in the trailer? The boy admitting getting creamed (in the field) by a girl. And the girl saying “I’m not going to be one of the girly girls, who put on lipgloss everyday, dresses in tutus and goes to ballet.”

Yu Aoi - Kid

What’s wrong with tutus and ballet?

You know… you can still end up like this~

Yu Aoi - Travel Sand

Just in case you don’t know, that’s the same person. ;)

Ooh la~~~ looking at Marion walking in those heels hurt me. LOL

Marion teams up for a viral/short film/commercial… but I can’t help but swoon. *swoon* – She does look gorgeous… total gorgeousity in those shots of her face. And wait~~~ wait for the ending. 3P

Dior's Lady Noire - Marion Cotillard
