Archives For photobook

Yu-chan will be gracing the cover of H Magazine… again. She was previously on the cover with Ninomiya for a Tekkon photoshoot… and then she was on the Futari no H cover. I have never been able to find high quality scans of that Futari no H shoot… so if anyone has, let me know.

Also, a quick reminder~ Uso. has officially been released. You can get it through HMV Japan… though I pre-ordered it, and they emailed me with a delayed message. BAW~

On the Futari no H link, they mention Travel Sand and Yoko Takahashi. They say Yoko and Yu make up a dream team. xD They do create magic together. You can still buy Travel Sand [YesAsia][HMV JP][Amazon JP], and Dandelion [YesAsia][HMV JP][Amazon JP].

I think both books are pretty big sellers… it always goes out of stock, and if I recall correctly, my Travel Sand book (or is it my Dandelion one?) is already a second print.

Sorry for the lack of comment activity yesterday, there was a weird mixed up with me, my server, and my ISP… which was fixed NOT by Telefonica, but my server providers~~~ They’re the best. You should all work with them.

Anyway, a lot of stuff… besides the World Cup,
whose Opening ceremony I missed, because I couldn’t wake up for them…

Toy Story 3 screening in the morning! So I’m making this short~

First~ as you may (or not) have noticed, I have added a Yu Aoi Event Calendar to the right, below the Ads. That’s to help us all to keep track of what’s going on and when. As you can see, Flowers opened today.

The newest issue of So-En Magazine (yes, the famous one with Yu as a boy) has recently hit the stands with Yu on the cover once again. As you can see, the cover is sporting the look for Yu’s newest Photo Exhibit and upcoming Photobook Uso. (Lie.). So she’s pushing hard to promote this.

Maybe it is because I didn’t know my sources well, but if I recall correctly when Portugirl came out, there wasn’t much promotion for it, at least not that I recall people blogging about it.

Anyway, I found this info on Japanese Streets, where they guide on how to get issues of So-En magazine, which by the way is a renowned fashion magazine that started in 1936. 1936!!! Otherwise, you can get it on Amazon Japan, or somehow get it from Bunka Publishing ~~~ and… you can pre-order Uso. over at HMV Japan.

by the way… anyone attend the event on the 29th? or anyone attending the exhibit?
would love to hear from you.

I won’t really link to the article because it mainly mentions her private life, and I know the video does mention it  a bit, but her people — because that was “her people”, right? ushered reporters away in the end.

Can I just say the exhibit looks pretty awesome? A room with big pictures of Yu Aoi… in 3D and those cute 3D glasses is a win for me.

I bothered to get some of the captions…

“蒼井優展を開くきっかけは”
The Yu Aoi Exhibit to Open

“個展を開くにあたっての感想は”
Your impressions on the opening of the exhibit

“実際に見た感想は”
The impressions on what you see (?)

“うそ をテーマにした訳は”
Conclusions of the theme of “Lies.”

“うそ をついたことは”
Ever lied? (?)

and a last caption pertaining her private life.

Anyway… I think it’s funny hearing all the giggles in the background, it makes it look like all the female reporters are totally smitten by her. Though, to be fair… I think Japan is smitten with any of their celebrities.

Uso.

I already pre-ordered the book. Alongside with a surprise for all of you Yu-Aoi-tagged element readers, but I’m gonna make you beg and grovel for the surprise… of course, I won’t be able to tell you anything until I get my order… but you can try groveling for details until then~

As I blogged 2 weeks ago, Yu-chan will be releasing a new Photobook, this time with pop-up elements, which ties into the 3D exhibit she’s doing in Shibuya, opening today in Tokyo (it’s 27th already there), and she will be at a meeting event on the 29th – if you’ve got a seat, would you report here?

All details about the book are on the link posted above.

via Japan Now.

PS: Yu Aoi has already returned to Japan – was at an event for Club Keiba, so that means she’s done shooting Vampire in Vancouver? Or will she be returning for more shooting?

A while ago Mario Testino opened his show Portraits for the first time here in Lima, Peru to re-open the Art Museum in town. Even Kate Moss showed up for the opening of the show – color me surprised.

As Lainey would say, I would cut a bitch to get my Mario Testino book Portrait — which I bought years ago, FYI — signed. But you know… things like that are hard to do. But my mom keeps telling me if Mario Testino shows up, she so totally will get my book for signing.

And, well,  since no cameras are allowed inside, I couldn’t take any pictures of show… even worse with a Nikon big-ass lens camera. So this will have to do~~~

Since I already (and only) own Portraits — which was 3 times the price I paid for my copy — I ended up buying the Diana, Princess of Wales book, because I’m a sucker for those photographs. The natural light, it gets me. I’m pretty much sure I also overpaid for it, but oh well~

And then comes the news that Kate Moss (the book) by Mario Testino, in limited edition of 1500 signed copies of a little over 120 pages, will be 350 Euros and/or $472 USD. I mean, F*ck me twice on a Sunday~ You know I’ve been dishing a bit too much dough purchasing Photobooks, but 350 Euros? Damn.

Anyway, exhibit was… well, what I expected. There was a funny moment in which I saw a portrait of Jennifer Aniston almost facing Angelina’s portrait which was next to the Brad portrait.
Coincidence or conspiracy? xD

I am not sure if I’m reading correctly, but according to her website

She will be releasing a new book, which happens to be a Pop-up Book titled “うそっ。” – and well, I don’t know how to romanize that… is it call “Uso.” as in “Lie.” because Google keeps translating to “Bull.” which I’m guessing it’s not.

Published by Parco Factory, it will be released by late June at 3 990 Yen (roughly $50 USD) and will contain 16-high-quality A4-variant pages (6 pop-ups?) in full-color.

Damn. That’s pricey.

Parco Factory will also be doing an exhibit in Shibuya from summer to autumn (with possible future dates in Nagoya and Fukuoka) , which will be able to be enjoyed with 3D glasses… you know, the Blue and Red glasses. So you’ll be able to enjoy that, as well as getting the pre-release of the book.

Date: May 27, 2010 to June 14, 2010
Admission: General 500 Yen, Students 400 Yen / Elementary students for FREE.

And… there’s also an event with Yu.

Only 200 seats available, which apparently will be chosen by luck. [you can apply here]

Date: May 29, 2010
Venue: Shinekuinto (Shibuya Parco Part 3.8 F )
Time: 9.30pm to 10.30pm

Sorry, I can’t translate any more.

Here’s more info.

where did this come from?
and when did it happen?

About “A day in the life of…”
In the limited edition series A day in the life of… photographers are portraying a day in their lives, fiction as non-fiction. The fourth publication in this monthly series is completed by Stockholm based artist Jenny Källman where she assembled pictures of young peoples everyday lives. She blends documentary shots of the social games of the street with more or less pre-arranged scenes. – from Libraryman Co., Ltd.

A Day in the Life of... Yu Aoi

Found out about it here. You can get the book here. Roughly $15-ish USD.

ZOMG!
a la Juri! DVD + Photobook!

Mainland pop star Zhou Bichang (a.k.a. BiBi) turns movie director! Since signing with her new record company, the 2005 Super Girl first runner-up has directed three shorts that were first released on the Internet. They are now collected on DVD, allowing fans to witness her developing visual creativity and narrative flair. The first one, “Hide and Seek”, was highly popular in the 3rd Global Awards of Chinese New Media competition. BiBi plays an angel in the second chapter “Angel’s Corner”, which expresses her concern for various social issues, while the final piece “One Half Each Person” is more self-reflecting.The DVD comes with a 210-page full-color photobook, in which the bespectacled singer appears entirely without makeup. The book also includes photos she has taken around the world, as well as excerpts from her diaries written between April to December of 2008.

Ooh la! Short films~~~
