  • The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Just got back from watching a screening of the newest Narnia flick, and let me tell you, I enjoyed watching The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, but this one is far more better than that. Sure, purist might be a little ticked off by switching lines from characters to characters, but I’m telling you that I enjoyed Caspian a whole lot more.

  • Hey, Betty! You are Beautiful!

Another motion graphic post! Just trying to add post count here, teehee!

The Saline Project has a commercial for Ugly Betty, featuring Mika’s Big Girl (You Are Beautiful) track remix for the one and only Betty Suarez, sweet America Ferrera. The commercial features all the cast (I think) through Betty’s Betty-colored glasses.

  • My Favorite Actor is… WHO?

All the way back in September, I made a small list of some of my favorite actresses that people didn’t have idea who they were. But I don’t seem to have the same knack for spotting unknown names for male actors… funny, eh? I just realized this when making this list. Since most of the names are probably known, will post them from the ones I think are less known to the most known. And notice? No TV stars that I can recall~ WEIRD.

    *EDIT*
How could I forget him??? Just added him on the first spot of actors that you probably don’t know.

  • Forget Speed Racer, Watch Iron Man!

Just got back from a Press screen for Speed Racer (aka, Meteoro, in Spanish). What can I say? Words like FLASHBACKS, MOTION BLUR, and COLOR EXPLOSION come to mind. The Wachowski brothers have managed to Japanese-ized or should I say Asian-ized an English speaking film about Japan’s Mahha GoGoGo. I say Asian-ized because they managed to get Japan (Togo Igawa), Korea (Bi, Rain), and China (Yu Nan) to play family… LOL

But that’s a nitpick from me~~~ Let’s get to business, SPOILER ALERT! (maybe) (more…)

  • Oscar 2008: Best Short Films Animated Nominees

Back in January and February, I blogged a lot about the Academy Awards films, actors and people~ I had a list of the films I was to watch and had it all highlighted in colors of films:

    • I have seen
    • I wanted to see
    • Repeated film in another category (lol)

I didn’t necessarily manage to watch all the films before awards, but I did watch a majority… minus most the films in the Documentary category, and shorts (live action, animation and documentary). But today it all changed, because I saw all the Animated Short Films, and I will share them with you (especially Julyssa, who is most likely to want to watch them also). The only clip that is not complete is Piotrus i Wilk (Peter & the Wolf), which ended up winning the category.

  • Popular – Shows You Should’ve Watched

The date, September 1999… It was a Wednesday on The WB channel. I was getting ready to watch a new episode of Charmed, because I was (and still am) a fan of the supernatural. So as I used to do, turned on the TV at 7-ish in the evening, while doing some homework… re-runs of Friends and Caroline in the City would be on, and I would watch more than doing my actual homework, ha! – But that day… 29th of September (according to Wikipedia), Popular began. It was 8 pm. I’m guessing, and the show began as two ‘teens’ began talking in a diner. Summer vacations were over, and both were discussing the issues of teenage beauty. Is Sam foxier than Brooke McQueen??

  • Hitoride Dekirumon (ひとりでできるもん!)

Hitoride Dekirumon! is another NHK show for children I happen to see on my archived videos. It ran through 1991 to 2006 (quite the long run compared to Occidental children programming). Not entirely sure what the name means, Google Translate shows it as One Possible!, but I’m more inclined to say that (more…)

  • Eigo de Asobo (えいごであそぼ)

Eigo de Asobo (in its original 1990 title display 英語であそぼ, or in hiragana えいごであそぼ), meaning… I think, Play in English or Let’s Play in English. Well, I actually didn’t know what the heck ASOBO meant, lol… but I looked it up. (answer here, if you’re interested in use and phrases), is another NHK show I remember catching a glimpse of. I actually went through my video archive on VCR tapes, and I had recorded some of the show during its 1998-2001 period.

According to Japanese Wikipedia, the show began in 1990 and went through several changes (as apparently many Japanese kids shows do), (more…)

  • Okaasan to Issho – (おかあさんといっしょ)

When my family first got cable, I remember watching NHK. Now, as a person who doesn’t speak Japanese at all, and being a Japanese wannabe… the only programs I could actually follow sans subtitles were kid shows. One of them is the long-lasting Okaasan to Issho, which apparently began showing on October 5h, 1959. I think the first time I saw the show was in 1999… or I could be wrong and be 1998. Anyway, if you don’t know about it… it’s like hmm, Menudo meets Sesame Street, but for really really small kids. I’m guessing 2-3 years old. The show has been inventing and re-inventing itself throughout the years. Changing life-size-puppets, and hosts in their many years. (more…)

  • When You Think ‘Child Actor’ – Who Do You Think Of?

I was watching a re-run of How to Eat Fried Worms, and noticed a couple of known kid faces. Like Hallie Kate Eisenberg (most known as the Pepsi girl… or from the movie Paulie, LOL) – Alexander Gould from Weeds… well, I know him from there anyway. And… Ryan Malgarini who I know from The Hot Chick (he played the little brother, ha!). Anyway, it got me thinking that I couldn’t really think of any boy actor who wows me at the moment. I mean, when you think of child actors nowadays, you can immediately name Abigail Breslin (aka. Little Miss Sunshine)… or Dakota Fanning. In my case, I would also mention Jodelle Ferland of course~~
