Just got back from watching Get Smart, the television-show-based film starring Steve Carell, and Anne Hathaway… alongside The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) and Alan Arkin. I did not expect watching this, so when I was invited, I took my dad who is a fan of the show. He liked it, but he’s not die-hard fan – we thought it was pretty funny. I actually heard him laughing throughout.

Firefly – Shows You Should’ve Watched
On year 2002, a little odd sci-fi show began showing on Fox… and as all worthy Fox shows, it got canceled. Sadly, I never saw this show when it was on the air because it was not showing in Peru in 2002, and when I got to Canada, it was already out of the air. I remember that when I returned to Lima, I saw a couple of commercials on tv, but never made anything out of it.
It was not until my friend Nathan dragged me to the movies to watch Serenity… well, he didn’t drag me because I was more than willing to watch films, LOL’ – so when I watched the film, I was WOWed with it. And so… my friend lend me his pirated DVDs. HAHAHA. The DVD set was expensive back in the day, so I watched the whole show in less than a week and have been totally addicted to it. The same story can be told for a whole bunch of classmates, as the day arrived when the DVD set dropped in price thanks to a sale at HMV, and ALL of us went and bought it. Seriously, it’s like 6 of us went one day without knowing we did and bought the set. Like synchronized-buying.The show is so unique that my sci-fi-fantasy-fiction-hating of a mother LOVED watching it. If you mention Lord of the Rings to my mother, she will tell you it’s well made… or Star Wars, she will tell you the story when she fell asleep during the film, a story similar to the one she will tell you when she watched Matrix. So my mother HATES this type of shows, but she LOVES Firefly – That’s how GOOD this show is… or was.
The show is set in the futuristic future (2517, to be exact), and we are screwed. LOL’ Earth is just the Earth that was, thus we were forced to search for somewhere else to live namely other planets and moons. Western culture has mashed up with Eastern culture, thus giving us great moments when our characters swear in unintelligible Chinese. Moreover, there is also The Alliance, which is very much like the Empire in Star Wars… and we have “the space cowboys”. The crew of our flying Firefly vessel, namely Serenity… including one of my favorite characters, Captain Mal Reynolds, ass-kicking 2nd in command Zoe, outrageous Wash the pilot, dense and gun lover Jayne, the sex-hungry mechanic Kaylee, love-daft Simon the doctor, crazy lunatic River mystery, and the sexy ‘companion’ Inara.
You’ll love the characters, you’ll love their bad moments, you’ll love their good moments. It’s not about the western, it’s not about the sci-fi, it’s about the people and their relations. I LUV it. I love the jokes, I love the mixing of Chinese and English… the gorram GORRAM! xD So you better WATCH it NOW, GORRAM it!

The Incredible Hulk is Here!
Just returned from watching The Incredible Hulk! Short review is that I enjoyed it a lot… maybe not as much as I did when watching Iron Man, even though I’m a fan of neither of them. LOL First things first, I did like Ang Lee’s version of The Hulk, and I thought Eric Bana was quite endearing on his Green Bana version. But I guess THAT’s not the point of Hulk, is it? (more…)

Jessica Simpson – Come On Over
So… just listening to her new track. Actually, did anyone find her switch to country a surprise? LOL, I actually think that was something that always lingered on her.
Ok, just to be clear. I like country music, ok? I am probably one of the only ones who will tell people straight on… “hey, I listen to country music and it ain’t as bad as you make it sound.” Some of my favorite songs are country songs… maybe not the fast-driven ones, but I love me some country ballads. How This Blog Works~
Just a little bit on how this blog works. I haven’t properly blog, about me or my work… other than the occasional rant, you could say this is a very subjective variety blog. The topics are usually varied, but I get fanatical from time to time… mainly because there’s no one to talk with…

Zip-Ah-Dee-Doo-Dah – Last Friends Style!!
So just a while ago I saw Ep09 of Last Friends, but don’t worry! No spoilers in this post~~ Besides, there were no subs, so I probably don’t have any idea what they talked about~ I just cracked up with this following scene so much that I had to share with you guys.
If you’re a fan of Disney, you might notice or remember this song in the clip is a play on the famous Zip-Ah-Dee-Doo-Dah song on the infamous non-dvd-released Song of the South. You can actually find a torrent of the film thanks to someone’s hard-working-self who digitized the film.
Aren’t Eri, Michiru and Takeru the cutest singing??? And I just laugh so much when Eri goes “Ruka! Ruka!” xD

Miyavi and Salyu are Here!!
LOL’ No, they are not in Lima, but I have just gotten my Yesasia order, which rocks my world!!! It was relatively fast, as it only took 11 days… when Amazon.com usually takes 2 weeks or a month! It didn’t use to be like that, Amazon.com used to be prompt in orders, sometimes getting my stuff in a couple of days, instead of a couple of weeks. Even worse, Amazon has increased its shipping cost……….. when Yesasia offers free international shipping~~~~ So if you’re buying Asian music or films, don’t hesitate and buy Yesasia!
Okay… online shopping rant over (more…)

Okaeri Cups – Last Friends!!
As the weird obsessive fan that I am, you might not find my dying for these cups weird. Anyone watching the show must have noticed and over-analyzed the meaning of the cups… so INSTANT LOVE! For those who don’t know, Okaeri Cups or the Welcome Home Cups are heavily featured on one of Japan’s favorite dramas of the season, Last Friends.

And as my preference (and my dad’s) for Juri Ueno, we have a certain preference for Ruka’s blue cup (of course, marked by my swirling hearts). For certain, for otakus of the show who are not ass broke like me. LOL
You can find the cups at the FujiTV shop Online. Prices on US$ are roughly, $15 USD for the Tall Cups (that belong to Ruka/Michiru/Takeru), and $18 USD for the Latte Cups (that belong to Eri and Ogurin). Pricey! ain’t it??

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Just got back from watching a screening of the newest Narnia flick, and let me tell you, I enjoyed watching The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, but this one is far more better than that. Sure, purist might be a little ticked off by switching lines from characters to characters, but I’m telling you that I enjoyed Caspian a whole lot more.

Hey, Betty! You are Beautiful!
Another motion graphic post! Just trying to add post count here, teehee!
The Saline Project has a commercial for Ugly Betty, featuring Mika’s Big Girl (You Are Beautiful) track remix for the one and only Betty Suarez, sweet America Ferrera. The commercial features all the cast (I think) through Betty’s Betty-colored glasses.
