Archives For Photographs

… or what I think it’s an upcoming issue of Filmfare, anyway.

I just ran into this lovely photo from the Filmfare editor’s Twitter account [1][2], and if you zoom into the images, you sorta can read those first two pages. Otherwise, I did a search and found nothing yet. According to the main quote, the most note-worthy thing Tabu said was “Apart from a child, a man can give me diamonds,” which is not, considering that she says she wanted to learn ballet. Now THAT is interesting!

In general, prima ballerinas are thought to be small… though that is apparently changing now that people are taller. Imagine a danseur that is 5’11 or 6 feet tall with a prima ballerina that is only 5’2. If Tabu had problems with her height in an industry that could pull off camera tricks, I can’t imagine if she had follow through with ballet.

Other notable comments from the images were the ones she made about her moving from Hyderabad to Mumbai. It’s interesting because it goes so in contrast to her early interviews. And she hasn’t read Shakespeare. I hated reading unfiltered-yet-translated Shakespeare in school. LOL Anyway, having said all of that, Haider is really one of my anticipated films this year :)

Oh-oh, and she wants to do an action film where she does her stunts. While watching Jai Ho, I wanted her to go all Mama Bear before she had to call Salman- like, THAT would have made the movie actually a lot better. It wouldn’t have made sense with anything in her current backstory, but they could’ve made it work. Tabu just hitting bad guys.

*May22’14 Update*

Interview is up!

So this is the reason my Archie post [1] was popular a couple of hours ago. One of my fave Chinese biases is now officially [as per Weibo announcement] dating my teen (and not so teen) crush Archie Kao. I’ve never had such mixed feelings about celebrity couples… I love it and am madly jealous of each of them. LOL

Flawless Doona Bae is flawless always. All the time. Whatever the onslaught of heavily enhanced new actresses in Korea and across Asia may be, whenever you see Doona Bae’s face, you’ll always know it’s her.

It’s been a long time, Yu-chan~

Just ran into this new photo of Yu, still with her shorter hair and looking very relaxed. I wasn’t so into her shortest shorter hair style, but I think this length is perfect if she’s interested in keeping it shorter than what was her usual. I’ve always been jealous of her bare-face gift. She really does look her best with minimum makeup, familiar freckles on sight and all chillaxed.

I’m not sure about the source of the image, but it could be a shot in the May issue of Soup Magazine. Ever since her website redesign, I’ve lost track of her magazine appearances.

Madhuri with Swag

April 12, 2014 — Leave a comment

I’m not a fan of the cowboy gauchito hat, but I was surprised that Madhuri Dixit’s Facebook page shared this photo of her showering all her swag. It’s the first time I’ve seen some sort of gender-bending from India. Like… I would die with all the femininity that is supposed to embody women there with their overly long hair, their strong accentuating make-up, the saris and anarkalis.

Rani… sorta did the gender-bending gig for Dil Bole Hadippa! [1], and she had swag but the role was played for laughs, while Tabu has worn suits for different reasons in a number of films (lawyering up in Ghaath, gender-switcheroo gag in Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiyaa), and wore short hair for a brief period during Hu Tu Tu, but I’ve never come to grips with that.

Maybe I’m just used to seeing them with long hair and saris. I also love how the color red suits Tabu. Sure~ it looks good on film and photoshoots, and it could be local – so of your own – and exotic at the same time, but I would find having to live with it exhausting.

I just ran into this interview Khamatova did for the Russian version of Interview magazine back in 2012, and ran it through Google Translate (of course!). It’s short, but she seems to be talking about the difference between Russian and German acting methods, why it doesn’t seem like she goes well with Russian cinema, blockbusters, and the general view of people who see a ‘russian’ on screen.

And the article is accompanied by this gorgeous shot of her face by Aleksey Sorokin (Алексей Сорокин).

I was wondering about my rather quick faded interest in Min Hyorin, and just found out she just signed a new contract with JYP [1]. I hope that doesn’t mean less interest in movies and more focus in music, because- Buah~ wasted potential there, because look:

Sometimes I like to stare at photos.

… and Esquire Magazine likes covers with women shaving their fake beards.

I don’t like Sonam Kapoor. Seeing her name on a movie I’m about to watch (or should be in queue) elicits a groan from me, as it happened with Bhaag Milkha Bhaag or Delhi-6, which I must admit was successful and made me not hate her so much. But I’m also not madly in love with Fan Bingbing, so there.

Though I do think that Fan Bingbing is a better actress than Sonam Kapoor, I did find something that the two of them have in common. They’re both fashion ladies. Now they also have photos shaving their fake masculinity, with Sonam being photographed by Rohan Shrestha for… whoever the heck knows this is for.

… and Machiko Ono is looking super fly!

I ran into a set of photos on Weibo of Yu-chan with her eye-patch, and voila! According to Google Translate she had conjunctivitis, though I’ve never seen someone get it on one eye… so maybe it’s a stye.

On a Machiko Ono note… when I ‘met’ her via Mother and subsequently saw her on Carnation, I… just didn’t see the appeal. She got that “oh, must be a really good actress” comment from me (not a bad comment to get, I might add), but after seeing her on The Great Divorce, I’ve sorta started seeing her in another light. Like- she really does look extra good in this white dress.

Also~ Is Yu wearing extensions? I doubt her hair grew this long in such short period of time.
