Archives For new album

HMV JP takes top marks on shipping.
It only took 2 days! TWO days for my order to arrive~~~

It took Salyu 3 years to release her 3rd studio album, but it’s not like we were deprived of new music. In fact, Maiden Voyage contains many of the singles that Salyu had release these past years [6, if I count correctly]. You could say this could be a compilation of sorts, but it surprisingly works nicely as an album.

The album art gives you the visuals of flying… almost in a dream-like fashion — I mean, Salyu IS floating on a mattress and/or pillows, right? These visuals work really well with the overall themes and overall energy of the songs (yes, I actually grabbed the song book and followed the bouncing ball).

It also looks like Salyu is experimenting with her own music by finally stepping onto the writers chair, and even working on the music herself. Of course, she’s not doing it alone but with the help of Takeshi Kobayashi who has been there since the days of Lily Chou Chou. The collaborations between Kobayashi and Salyu are what we have come to get used to as far as Salyu’s sound is.

Interestingly enough, Salyu’s song (written and composed as least with the help of Tatsuya Kokufu) L.A.F.S (which stands for Love at First Sight) reminded me a little bit of what Salyu used to sound as Lily. Somewhat off-beat melodies, with really simple lyrics, but really moody.

Overall, the album really flows well and feels like a whole, except maybe for the oddball BIRTHDAY, which threw me off… in a really good way. The song, written by Salyu and composed again by Kokufu, sounded like Shiina Ringo and Bjork had a lovechild, if that were EVER possible.

I’ve taken to Salyu’s music because it’s soothing, as well as quite slow and easier to follow with a songbook. Salyu is really quite good to practice your reading and pronunciation. However on BIRTHDAY, she slurs her words and sounds completely different. I’m looking forward to more of that sound in the future. Hopefully.

As for the concert DVD. Well, it’s totally worth the price you pay for this limited edition with DVD ~

Screencap galore after the break~

Well, f*ck me twice on a Sunday.

I was googling Alicia Keys because I needed the name of her album, and came up with the news that her album… out on December 15th (on time for next YAM) can be listened to if you become a fan of Alicia Keys on Facebook. Now, never have I ever become a Fan of x-artist. I’ve joined their groups, but never became a fan… even of Yu. At least on Facebook. xD

Anyway, why am I talking about this? Because I opened the Alicia Keys page… read that I needed to become a fan, and I actually considered becoming one. After all, I can just stop being a fan — so that’s actually a pretty good campaign. One click away and you can stream Keys’ new album one week ahead of anyone. I’m sure there will be people, unlike me, who will click the button and listen to it. I mean, this actually made me consider… I was looking at the page for several seconds, when I usually just delete any Fan Page invitation.

I also just block most applications, unless I’m looking for it specifically.

Hello there?
These photos are to promote Westlife’s new album Where We Are, with their single What About Now — BLEH! I know. The titles… *sighs* Why must they use those titles?? Anyway, the photos were taken by Mark’s main squeeze ;P

I Feel in the Mood for Hanson~

November 20, 2009 — 1 Comment

hanson-2008-bryan-johnson

I’ve been listening to their last 2 albums these past two days.

Is Hanson a guilty pleasure? Sure, I can’t tell everyone, but I do tell some people they’ve got to let those MMMBop days go. Honestly, you can’t judge a group by a song you heard in the late 90s. If you only let yourself listen to Underneath, and The Walk you would understand.

Plus, it doesn’t count if they liked MMMBop and then it got too popular for its own good.

Actually, Underneath Acoustic is pretty great, and I just happened to read that they also did a re-recording of their debut Middle of Nowhere (for their 10th anniversary)… what that means? That means mature Hanson still singing their old songs. Can you imagine Justin Timberlake singing Bye Bye Bye? He’s too afraid. LOL

Come on! Michael Jackson was still comfortable performing I Want You Back, and I’ll Be There.

I also read that a new album will be released next year… May, hopefully.

While updating myself on Hanson news, I found two interesting posts… In Defense of the Hanson Brothers, and Hanson in Sharp Form… – Here’s a couple of excerpts~

There’s little point in dancing around it: I like Hanson. Always have. I’ve also spent enough time listening to Slayer, Motorhead, Mayhem, Krisiun and the like to feel comfortable with my affinity for this trio of pop-friendly siblings.

Like keyboardist/singer Taylor Hanson, I wasn’t a Gilmore Girls watcher, but I read recently that one character on the show referred to Hanson as “the new Bee Gees.” Then it all made sense.

And the most interesting part of the whole post was this:

Then a friend who spent most of his time listening to Norwegian black metal told me he was impressed with songs that would eventually appear on Underneath (2004).

Also… did you know? *warning, Amy facts may seem weird* Taylor was my brother of choice. xD

If we talk about big dorks, Crowd Lu is a huge dork, and his new album comes out next month, the first single Oh Yeah is out. SO FUN. So catchy. I hope the whole album is like this, so I feel like getting it.

Crowd Lu’s first album 100 Ways for Living was a huge hit.

Say what?

She’s got a new album! And it was released not long ago, and a lot of famous people showed their support for the release!! Including Andy Lau, Eason Chan, Nic Tse and Stefanie Sun~~~

This is the video for the first single, Gui Lai (Return)

must get my hands on that album~

and I demand a collaboration with Celtic Woman, Meav or Sarah Brightman~~~ LOL

More fun educational stuff by They Might Be Giants,

I know music videos is not that popular in here, considering how visits have dropped since I begun posting a few music videos this past week… but this brought back memories of school and chemistry classes. xD My teacher has his own Facebook group hahaha.

Ljósið = Light =D
another pretty music video~~~
beautiful music. xD

Also check 3055, gorgeous musical ending.
Can’t wait to listen to the whole album~

LOL

I know… just to close the month with something not charged.

I woke up this morning with a post by Electro^Plankton~

I don’t care what anybody says. I love them even without Kevin. Secretly I’m holding out for a full reunion with all 5 members, at least for a live performance.

that made me think it sounded like me. But read the post because it’s funny.

Anyway, the guys are releasing a brand new album (This is Us) this coming October (6th, in case you wonder) and apparently they’ll be going back to their old sound of R&B(ish) sounding Pop tunes that was so popular before, which to tell you the truth I’m not that thrill (not overly anyway) because I did enjoy their new sound, guitar driven rock-ish sounding pop ballads… but I did enjoy tracks like “Treat me Right” (produced by Nsync’s JC), so we’ll see…

In any case… BSB is promoting the album with the single Straight Through my Heart with a er… new video, which isn’t anything out of this world, but it has nice colors xD – but it does have cheesy vampire eyes and stuff~~~, and then there’s RollingStones who has a new interview up in their website.

Call them pop’s longest-running, most persistent group. Call them men, not boys. Just don’t call it a comeback.

For some reason it seems like the person who wrote the article was told to do an article on them, and she didn’t want to. It happens… after all Rolling Stones works with record companies to secure promotion and stuff.

I just want to hear what Max Martin can produce now… xD
If You Seek Amy wasn’t a let down xD and I’m pretty sure Bad Influence had his credits also.
