Archives For justin timberlake

Happy new year, everyone!

Sorry for the lack of posts last month. To make up for it, here are five posts so you can catch up to my 2013 and to get you going this 2014.

What started like a simple post, ended up taking a lot of hours of research and boy band video-watching. I may or not regret it.

Voila! The Ultimate Guide to Boy Bands of the 90s ~

There were boy bands I hadn’t even heard of… and some that I had to dust off my VHS tapes to get their names. Ha!

I put together my lists of Top15 Movies, Bottom15 Movies, as well as my Top15 Albums from 2011.

I’ve never seen this video of Bibi during her Super Girl days. And I never knew she sang Gone by NSYNC! She even has a more likable – hint: not nasal – voice than Justin Timberlake. Someone tweet this to him ASAP! xD

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uypEKsCcvZU

I wish she had changed the line about “being a man and be strong” xD but to what?

Then? Then she pulls of the ABC song in blues? Please, WTH.

I’m also making a YouTube playlist titled “Why Zhou Bichang is Awesome” LOL And you see the 2nd clip on that list? The duo with Priscilla Chan – that’s the same song she sang on this clip up here in the contest.

Makes me feel so proud.

You know, the first time I listened to the album via mp3, I didn’t feel it… at least, most of the songs. My favorite was and still is The Daily Necessities, but now I’ve warmed up to a couple more. One of them is Mei, which sounded kinda weird at first with the autotune and the piano, and the tinge of Chinese traditional. However, once I got the album — which I was regretting of having pre-ordered — I found myself singing to the song LOL

In the video, Leehom is pimping… and dancing a bit a la JTimberlake or a la Usher against a shot of backlight. He plays the piano, and even dares to hablar un poco de espanol. Actually, the video is pure eye candy if you like him. ;P

VMA 2010

September 12, 2010 — 1 Comment

Dunno if I’ll be watching the show. I don’t even know who will be performing xD But if there’s any highlight, if there’s any complaint… it sure will be posted here. LOL

I like Chelsea Handler. Her intro where everyone’s spanking her was pretty funny, but because she couldn’t really take a very direct jab at reality stars, her game wasn’t that good. Besides, almost nto one huge was there… was Beyonce even there? Eminem left… Justin Timberlake was there as an “actor” and… well, Lady Gaga was pretty much the biggest star there without considering Usher (did he win anything?), Taylor Swift, Kanye… and well, okay – Justin Bieber.

Also… Cher. So so wrong xD and the meat purse. LOL but really, what a waste of meat. Instead, Gaga should’ve gone as Joe Calderone (was that the name?) – Really. WASTE OF MEAT. Unless, of course… she eats it, but I doubt that.

The biggest winner of the night? HELLO, VMA 2010 SET DESIGN.

The set design was so awesome, I was distracted from most of the performances. I really REALLY need to find out who was in charge of that set and do a post on it. At first I thought it was Usher’s genius use of light, but no… it was the SET. Even Kanye’s performance was perfectly placed in that PUUURRRRfect set.

And oh… Winners

Lady Gaga won for Bad Romance
Best Dance Music Video
Best Female Video
Best Pop Video
Best Choreography
Best Direction
Best Editing
Video of the Year

and only one – Best Collaboration with Beyonce – for Telephone.

Eminem for  Not Afraid won 2
Best Hip Hop Video
Best Male Video

while 30 Seconds to Mars (Rock), Muse (Special Effects), Justin Bieber (New Artist), Florence and the Machine (Art Direction), Jay Z and Alicia Keys (Cinematography), and The Black Keys (Breakthrough) won one each.

Performance-wise.

Just had a listen to Se7en’s (seven) newest mini-album Digital Bounce, and couldn’t help but hear similarities between Track 6 — Drips — and Justin Timberlake’s Love Stoned. Just listen to the verses.

Drips vs. Love Stoned

What say you? Similar?

I’m all messy with my MV post titles – I usually put “original title pronunciation (with English translation)” it’s that way on my iPod anyway… but here, I post English titles sometimes because original titles are complicated, or sometimes just refer to them with their original titles because the English sounds silly.

I’m conflicted with Mad Love or Ai Fang. LOL

Anyway, I’m just posting Mad Love because I wanted to post Fu Xin Han — there you go, another example of naming. I just don’t know how to translate that xD Attached-Heart Man? See, that sounds a bit silly. However, the commercial pop video – I had a big discussion on commercial pop the other day – it looks promising for the cpop scene.

What’s Up Vevo?

February 8, 2010 — Leave a comment

First, WTF is Vevo, right?

Unless you’ve been looking for a music video by an artist sign by one of the few record companies that have signed deals with Vevo, chances are you haven’t even seen the Vevo logo.

Vevo started out with a celebrity packed opening, yet bumpy. Some of the musicians that day were Lady Gaga, Rhianna, Mariah, Taylor Swift, and even Justin Timberlake… but nobody cares if your platform is buggy. Users complained of slow “buffering” times, wondering why it was buffering instead of streaming. International users were shown a big splash saying they couldn’t use Vevo because it was only for US residents, however, some US users were also given the big splash for no apparent reason.

In short, very few people like Vevo for one reason or the other.

Some can’t use it, some others hate the waiting, others hate the buggy player, others hate the loading time, others (those who get to use it) hate the music collection… you know, since there are no indie labels.

Then, YouTube began using specific Vevo links, which seems to work for non-US users. However, loading times are still an issue. Add to that that it seems to be very random when it decides to not let non-US users watch videos. For example, I can watch some videos on my WinXP computer, but I can’t wtch them on the Vista I’ve got at home. Both are same location, and same internet connection. What gives?

Add to that International viewing.

We are nearly at the end of our list of 100 Songs of the Decade~~~

Some really great songs on this one, with loads of variety
with music of many genres and different languages.
