Archives For musical/choreography

I’m all messy with my MV post titles – I usually put “original title pronunciation (with English translation)” it’s that way on my iPod anyway… but here, I post English titles sometimes because original titles are complicated, or sometimes just refer to them with their original titles because the English sounds silly.

I’m conflicted with Mad Love or Ai Fang. LOL

Anyway, I’m just posting Mad Love because I wanted to post Fu Xin Han — there you go, another example of naming. I just don’t know how to translate that xD Attached-Heart Man? See, that sounds a bit silly. However, the commercial pop video – I had a big discussion on commercial pop the other day – it looks promising for the cpop scene.

How old is Se7en supposed to be? I feel like he should be contemporary of Bi Rain, but he looks as young as the “younger” DBSK, Big Bang, 2PM, 2AM and every other goddamn K-pop boy band released in the past 3 or 4 years.

Okay, having said that… did anyone else thought of Europop when listening to the song? I mean, the song it’s okay – but okay only. It’s too much autotune from the beginning, and the choreography is okay. I dunno if I’m being too “gay” now, but the women in K-pop are kicking k-pop “boys”  butt lately. Hyori and Narsha alone look so much cooler than Bi and Se7en.

Like I told Julz now, I like BEG. xD Well, I liked GaIn better in the Abracadabra video, which I spent all weekend listening to. However, I also listened to Narsha’s new mini album… which was pretty ok.

This video, however, wow… is this a nominee for Most Use of Hair Styles or what??? xD I’m not gonna say I love it, but I’m probably gonna be caught humming it — just like I say Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Hyori style now.

You know what I like now? I like that the Kpop music scene is keeping the worldwide pop scene in good shape, with loads of style, colors, choreography, well-cut videos and quite danceable pop. Yeah, as much as I could criticize the commercialism, I can sit back and tell all of you, at least I would make an effort to pay for it. The Kpop scene has good quality pop acts… despite the ones whom you could be labeled as “guilty pleasures” *coughGeecough*

Yeah! Take that Miley, Bieber and… are the Jonas still relevant?

*EDIT*

Here’s the English subtitled version.

Hyori-unnie, I really like you as a person, but I’d trade those high heels you got on for some comfy sport shoes and a rocking choreography. I really like when you start the car-thing, but really… those high heels don’t do anyone any justice on the dance floor.

Having said that, the net is BUZZING because you appear to be packing-a-six with you.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t see the six-pack even on HD, so if you wanna see the six-pack Hyori-unnie is showing off, you’re gonna have to head over to All KPop. If you want my “professional” observation, those abs are make-up. She’s got them, don’t worry… but those six she’s showing off on that screencap are too cinematically perfect. Yes, she’s got a hot body. Yes, she can totally kick ass on any Pop princess around the world.

Do I think you can have a Six-Pack-Off against Pink?

Maybe… we are in need of a six-pack assessment~~~ xD
After all, Pink has a MEAN six-pack.

I know Glee has much MUCH more budget than Popular ever did, so we are judging on funny. Sure, Glee doesn’t make up songs, but still it’s great when they don’t take themselves too serious. Though, I am a sucker for their Keep Holding On, even if I really disliked the Avril Lavigne version one. Also their My Life Would Suck Without You – you know what I think of Kelly Clarkson’s music. Meh.

So I was looking for a funny Glee performance… I was gonna choose Sex You Up, but I thought the kids should fight it off with the cast of Popular. Bring it!

Can I just say Abracadabra is super hot?

I listened to all of Brown Eyed Girls discography, minus singles… only albums, and maybe I did some minialbums. Can’t really recall, it’s been too much music lately. Anyway, from all the girl groups I’ve listened to lately… I liked them the best… dig their voices, and the raps somehow remind me of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez…

Man, she was the shitz~~

TLC killed it in the VMAs 1999. Man, those were the years…

RIP, Left Eye, RIP.

I swear to kamisama that Hyori-unnie has been watching a lot of films. Last time she did Black Balloons and creepy clow in a gloomy beach, which was totally arthouse. This time around she’s totally District 9 meets The Fifth Element meets Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

I love it. xD Thanks for the Hyori video-bombarding, Julz.

Hyori in the yellow feathery coat looks like a little pollito. LOL

Vogue!

Nicole and Sue should have a Vogue-off.

Oh man, I was so lucky my parents didn’t speak any English.

I mean… come on!
“Anyone can make you sweat, but I can keep you wet”

that’s not even an undertone.

I truly was an innocent child. O=D

I was all over the choreography. xD

Grammy 2010 Afterthoughts

January 31, 2010 — 2 Comments

Well, color me surprised twice this weekend.

Taylor Swift just won Record of the Year, which doesn’t really upset me… but really? I enjoyed it, but that’s it. But to be fair with the Grammy, the album was the biggest selling hit last year… and to an industry that’s struggling with physical album sales, that’s possibly a LOT.

I wasn’t really supporting any particular artist this year, as I kept my year listening to Asian music. However, I really respect Lady Gaga’s live performance, despite my not really enjoying her albums.

As for Swift’s performance, she picked a bad day to sound bad. However, she wasn’t the only one with a weak performance. Right after a very strong beginning by theatrical queen Lady Gaga with some piano by queen Elton John, and pretty good performance by Beyonce — I mean, that Alanis cover did give her some extra points — the show pretty much went on the average road.

I was really disappointed with Pink’s performance, not because it was bad. It was technically fine, and not many would sing in-tune while spinning a la Cirque du Soleil. The performance, however, lacked any energy to pump the audience there or at home…

Moreover, the Grammy Awards have proved that there’s no Michael Jackson tribute without Janet. I must admit that Celine, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood and Usher sounded vocally great, but the performance was nothing but lacking as a performance. Add to that pimping the performance as a 3D act, which wasn’t really 3D for viewers, but for people there — which prompted a 3d-glasses-wearing Beyonce, and others included Rhianna — but I doubt all the people there had 3D glasses at hand.

I wasn’t a big fan of Green Day’s 21st Century album, but the performance was okay-ish, since I do like musicals. However, I doubt old school GD fans appreciated it.

And there was too much Bon Jovi.

MTV owned Grammy’s MJ tribute, but MJ’s kids were kinda cute.

Music in the west was weak overall.

Check back next time…
