  • Shiina Ringo and Superficial Gossip!!

    Shiina Ringo’s new music!!!

    I just got the email from HMV listing Shiina Ringo’s new upcoming album. Sanmon GOSHIPPU, which translates to ‘cheap gossip’ or as CD Japan puts it “Superficial Gossip”. This is Ringo’s new material since she began collaborating with other musicians, and performing with Tokyo Jihen. Last year, she released a bunch of compilations commemorating her ten years in the music entertainment business…

    The album includes 14 tracks, but apparently the first single is not there which is called Ariamaru Tomi (Superfluous Fortune) [HMV Japan], main theme of the Jdrama Smile, and will be released on May 27th.

    The album is set to be released on June 24th.

    I digs… I think she’s got style *points at Shane* – She’s also funny on stage… can’t beat doing the Cha Cha Cha, right? Or singing Corazon de Melao. LOL’ She does magic tricks, and she apparently directed some of her MVs.

  • Back with Eminem – We Made You

    Sooooo, Eminem’s Back.

    Back again. Tell your friends. ~~ Thoughts? Not really that catchy, but it is kind of funny. Noticed how he pokes fun at loads of tabloids’ fave celebrities? Also… Joseph Khan! He’s worked with Britney, as you might well know.

    Anyway, I found the lyrics, though they don’t seem to be right. John Mayer must be in cloud 9 with being mentioned in the song, and Sarah Palin *snorts* that bit was funny… – I do feel kind… of… sorry for Jessica Simpson. But seriously, Eminem could’ve poked fun at other ‘celebrities’ other than Rock Star dude, and the Kardashian chick. It makes it seem a bit outdated.

    *sighs* pop culture isn’t what it used to be. Have you noticed it now changes every other week? Every other week there’s another dumbass celebrity on Twitter posting photos of their wives’ asses and then asking for privacy. Long gone are the days of true movie icons… shame.

    Oh, we LOVE it when YouTube has region restrictions, no?

    You’d think Britney Spears fans around the world, and not only located in the US would try to watch her videos on YouTube. I would get the ‘age restriction’ – but come on! who hasn’t lied into those signup forms before, right? – But hey! Not only I can’t watch Britney videos from BritneyTV… I also found a lot of other music videos (eg. Cobrastyle by Robyn) that I couldn’t watch because of this. As if!

    Anyway, I had just found out Britney released her new video (third, I think) – If You Seek Amy… which I thought was the best track on Circus… not because my name is featured, but because it’s actually kind of smart and sassy. The video SUCKS though… she hasn’t made a good video since she stopped having general shots of choreography. You can’t deny the close shots and quick edits while ‘dancing’ is to hide the fact that she’s not moving much.

  • UK MVA > VMA

    Enough said, and we don’t get a broadcast…

    The UK Music Video Awards just made their announcement in London… !! *excitement!!*

    The Video of the Year was… Bjork with Wanderlust! – I said it could easily be THE best video of the year… – Bjork also won Best Art Direction, and Best Indie/Alternative Video.

    Nominees and winners were more up to my likings… which makes me wonder? WTH is wrong on this side of the world?? I’m talking about America as a continent… O_o

  • Seo Taiji is Back!

    Rejoice! After a few years absent from the music scene (at least mine…), Korean musician Seo Taiji (서태지) is back with a new single… and and new album, of course! Oh yeah, and a new video… ;)

    I remember that my friend Jenny, back in DD school… she sent me Seo Taiji mp3s (See! Thank Kamisama for mp3 transfers), and I was instantly hooked. I was surprised to know that my other Korean friend was also a fan, because these two friends couldn’t be more different xD Anyway, Just about a year ago, I ended up buying his 7th album Issues, which is now out-of-stock in YesAsia.

    I don’t know when the full new album will be out, but I’ll keep my ear open. xD Gosh, so many releases now~~ Luckily, Amy does not buy Singles~~~ I’ve only bought EPs, but not Singles, not yet. xD

  • The Music Vid-Turned Short Film Invasion!

    Well, my music video knowledge is very limited, but these are a couple of the trivia that I know by heart:

    • The first EVER music video aired on MTV was “Video Killed the Radio Star” by, if I recall correctly, The Bugles.
    • “Thriller” by Michael Jackson was the first ever Music Video-Turned Short Film.
    • The first ever Music Video I remember watching is “Remember the Time” by Michael Jackson – another short film/music vid!

    It’s been a busy week. I have been working on three different computers… and one of them was quite annoying because formatting sucks, especially if you’re an HP user. Windows sucks too, by the way. And the stupid Support Center, it’s pure rubbish.

    Nothing else here, I think. That’s pretty much all. Working on music video, some printing and loads of formatting and installing and complaining.
