Top 5 TV Brains~

September 2, 2009 — 4 Comments

From time to time, I get in the mood for Top #

I was in the mood for a Top 5 of my favorite TV brainy characters~
nerdy… geeky… dorky… socially inept, whatever you want to call them xD

I thought about them, and it was kinda difficult since I haven’t been really watching much television lately. But I did my best to put together this list… some hot people, some not so much LOL some not even people xD

Juri Ueno WOWOW Marathon!

August 29, 2009 — 5 Comments

While we wait for Juri’s WOWOW project (please, please! Someone sub this!!! And please, please WOWOW release this with subs), the programming  (non-coding) people have decided to do a Juri Marathon with 6 films! (Sounds like Comfy Monki to me xD) starting on September 7th (That’s a Monday, just so you know~)

  • Sept. 7th – Jozze to Tora to Sakana-tachi (Josee, the Tiger and the Fish)
with Satoshi Tsumabuki and Chizuru Ikewaki
  • Sept. 8th – Kame wa Igai to Hayaku Oyogu (Turtles Swim Faster than Expected)
    with Yu Aoi (!!! xD)
  • Sept. 9th – Naoko
  • Sept. 10th – Swing Girls (!!!!)
  • Sept. 10th – Warau Mikaeru (Arch Angels)
  • Sept. 11th – GuGu Datte Neko de Aru (Gu Gu the Cat)
    with Kyoko Koizumi~~~

Why they chose Josee instead of Rainbow Song makes me wonder… after all she was barely in Josee xD – Anyway, if you get WOWOW, don’t miss the chance to watch these six Juri films!

Kame wa igai to hayaku oyogu

My friend Kyle gave me the heads up on this
Hungarian film, which appears to be horrorific.

It’s Mysterious Ways!

August 27, 2009 — 1 Comment

The year, 2000… I think.

Mysterious Ways - Season 1 - Title

Anyway, for any fans of the shows, I just found the torrent for Mysterious Ways, that Canadian (probably shot on Vancouver) show with Adrian Pasdar (who is now married to Natalie Maines from the Dixie Chicks) with Rae Dawn Chong (who my mother refuses to believe is Chinese, LOL) and Alisen Down (playing the geeky and awkward Miranda) – by the by, I’m pretty sure I was a Declan/Miranda kinda shipper… ~ I’m telling you, it’s all about the geek.

Also, don’t mind the title sequence. It’s a really REALLY bad title sequence, super 90’s and cheese~ xD

Anyway, I’m posting the links to the torrents because there are no DVDs… I doubt there will be any releases since it’s such a tiny show… and Canadian. Canadian programming sucks when it comes to releasing on DVD.

It’s a little over 15Gb for both seasons, but it’s worth it if you want the show. Remember, the show getting a DVD release it’s a long shot. Better download while you can. And if the torrent goes dead (and there are still no DVD releases), you can leave a message to request re-seed.

Carey Mulligan Searches~

August 26, 2009 — 1 Comment

There’s been a sudden search for Carey Mulligan on this site, and now I know why. However, I’m not going to be talking about it because it deals with her personal life, and to be honest… why was this important? Not that she’s not important, it’s just the whole who she is/might/not might be dating.

Yes, I know. I’m being a hypocrite, but I’ve been trying to cut down on gossip on some actors and actresses.  Plus, you should all be focusing in the fact that she is still leading (until aug 24th) the Lead Actress race for the Oscar! And not because she’s been photographed with this actor, and all the fangirls are searching for the competition xD

You should just be approving. LOL
Just watch the An Education Trailer~

City Stories Shorts

August 25, 2009 — 2 Comments

Film Independent (alongside Banana Republic, and Vanity Fair) are currently showing a series of shorts, and you can vote for your favorite (if you are in the US, and are interested in a Banana Republic giveaway).

I can’t vote… or I’m not eligible for voting, but I can vote… but I don’t want Banana Republic stuff in my inbox. Anyway, I liked a few of the shorts – which you can watch on this website – particularly the one titled Steps.

Steps

Written by Marissa Jo Cerar, and directed by Barney Cheng.

I also have a soft spot for Three Times Me (boys are icky, *laughs* xD), and Foolishly Seeking True Love – and was it me, or were these shorts over-using French?

Anyway, check them out~ and vote for your favorite… or you know, if you don’t want to be spammed by Banana Republic, you can just leave your comment here xD

I used to be a really good moviegoer when I was 17… 18 and 19~ Perhaps catch 1 or 2 films a week… if there was something indie, maybe 3 or 4 films at the cinema! That’s a lot of money. I don’t go to the movies too often, and I wonder why.

1. Peru doesn’t cater to my taste in movies when I want to… where I want to. I would watch Inglorious Basterds, but it hasn’t open here yet. So considering… I would watch it only if it’s really good. Hopefully it will make it before it comes out on DVD in America xD

2. It takes ages for some films to be released, so by the time they’re released I already bought them on DVD, have already watched them as downloads or have already lost interest.

3. They never make it here. Hooray for cable! LOL But sometimes they don’t even make it there.

4. Little to no independent films. It’s always the big studios… Can I re-suggest IndieScreenings? You can read some of my thoughts about it in this YAM issue.

5. 98% of American films in the market. 0.01% of Asia. 1%Europe… 0.03% Canadian~~~ What gives? xD The rest can be whatever… co-productions, etc.

6. I know it’s about the money-making, but how about opening a specialized cinema that shows new independent/foreign releases?

7. Not cinema means I get to watch films when I have the time, not when they want me. I can watch any film at 2am even if theaters are closed. No need to queue or complain about the noisy couple behind you.

Anyway… how do they choose the films to be distributed? And who chooses??? Maybe I should work for a distributor company or something. Maybe we should work with Indie Screenings for a test.

Here it is!
Creativity can change the world!
Weeee~

Check out the Art & Copy website, apparently you can request a screening~

Now if only the big boys will let us,
instead of worrying how big their logo should be.

I loved Pixar’s UP. The first 15min. of the film is pure magic, so when I saw it on my Amazon recommended page, I was thrilled because I want to get it. But here’s the thing…

**Edit**
Since this post, they have announced a 2-disc DVD.

There’s only the single-disc DVD, and the 4-disc Blu-ray (which comes with the blu-ray, plus digital copy, plus DVD and who knows what else…) – To be honest, the $+30 price tag on the Blu-ray makes me not want to get it. Even worse because I haven’t made the switch to the format yet…

Then… the +$10 price tag on the single disc… which is ONE disc only, hardly any worthy extras. Compared that to the $20-something 3-disc DVD WALL-E version. And I’m not sold on UP. I’m sorry. If the price doesn’t go down below $15 for the single disc, I’m not buying it. I would’ve paid $20 for a two-disc DVD. What gives?
