  • Yoji Yamada’s Tokyo Kazoku ON!

Or at least, that’s what I understood scanning through the articles in Japanese (with Google Translate, LOL).

Tokyo Kazoku (Tokyo Family) was supposed to start shooting in early April last year, but due to the earthquake, it was postpone — postpone long enough, until now. Apparently (if I read right), Tokyo Kazoku began shooting on May 31st. There was a press conference that day, and the cast was there~ including Satoshi Tsumabuki and Yu-chan.

As you may (or not) know, Tokyo Kazoku will be a re-telling of the 1953 classic Tokyo Story (東京物語) by Yazujiro Ozu. Apparently, Yu-chan will be taking on the role played by Setsuko Hara. But… I really can’t tell you more, because I’m ashamed to admit I haven’t watched Tokyo Story, even though every cinephile has.

But if Setsuko Hara-san’s character was the same as Satoshi Tsumabuki’s girlfriend [1], then you probably already knew that. If it wasn’t… then it’s all news to us. xD

In the meantime… Yu looks grown-up. I feel like I haven’t seen her in so long, even though she was in that episode of Shokuzai in January. Of course, Tokyo Kazuko will be released on January 2013.

Here’s a video of the event.

  • From the Vault: Super Young Miki Nakatani

While searching for photos of Miki Nakatani, I ran into this picture of her as a kid — she can’t be topping 15 years old in here. She looks like she’s between 12 or 14. Because, MY GAWD. She looks different but not different, you know? This is the first EVER time I’ve seen her like this.

  • Two Are Married, One to Go~

I can’t believe Ella got married. I mean, I can believe that Selina would — I had a whole year to realize that — but, YOU KNOW, it was Ella. Did you think Ella would be getting married? In any case, did you think Ella wouldn’t be the last one getting married?

    The more you know~

  • Madame de Sade Bits and Pieces~

I bet you’re jealous of those who got the chance to see Yu-chan on Madame de Sade last March. I know I am… Anyway~ I guess I will be adding the photos I find of it on this post xD

  • Hayato Ichihara on NHK’s Studio Park

I don’t know what is it about Hayato Ichihara (or Christopher Gorham) that I find so irresistible. Must be the kind of boyish charm, huh? I suddenly ran into Hayato Ichihara on NHK (so lucky I changed the channel!) where he talked about his new NHK project, A Tree in the Sun (陽だまりの樹) — adaptation of an Osamu Tezuka manga, and the interviewers asked him about All About Lily Chou Chou, for its recent 10th anniversary.

I don’t remember seeing him in the anniversary pictures [1], but I’m so glad they asked him about it because Yu-chan got a mention by name as well as a very long clip. Natsukashii na~~~

Anyway, I didn’t get much about the interview (of course!), except that he likes tako nigiri sushi (octopus). LOL — Also, Hiroki Narimiya stars in the new show, and he’s another one of my weaknesses~ I find Narimiya attractive when I see him acting on screen (crazy and all), though, not on photos.

  • Seoul, the city of tea houses~

On Saturday — the day I was having dinner with my friend, I went to some tea shop that reminded me of The Storyteller… or maybe it was Bilbo Baggins place, I can’t be sure.. but it was one of the most rustic places I had ever sipped tea at with it’s scribbled walls and wooden interior~

    *EDIT*

The place apparently is called Dalsaeneun Dalman Saenggak Handa (달새는 달만 생각한다 인사동), the branch in Insadong.

  • Hello, my friends~ Goodbye, health~

So… halfway through my stay in Seoul and I’ve hardly seen much. In all honesty, we’ve been really tired jumping from one place to the other, so we’re taking this time to relax like we haven’t before…

Having said that, I’ve gotten the chance to meet up with friends that I haven’t had the chance to see in nearly six years, so it’s been definitely a nice experience — warm, despite the bizarre Seoul weather that’s greeted us, which includes a full day of rain (bus water splashing included), sunny mornings with scattered snow, and loads of icy wind which have contributed with my broken throat and runny nose.

I know I always talk about how I miss Vancouver and my friends, but my meeting with them has made me realize how much I miss hanging out with them over simple cups of coffee and snacks.

Of course, walking alone in Seoul through the streets and using public transportation made me think of that person. LOL So many people remind me of that person xD

  • From the ground up!

I dunno how to type the name of the palace ^o^
