Archives For Motion

that is fascinating.

For one thing, Chris Lee doesn’t have the best voice, she doesn’t have the best dancing, or the best lyrics in her album. However, she writes her own music and lyrics — she seemed to have done so in her self-titled album — , she dances, she even directs her own music videos [one of them Youth of China], and has begun her acting career — in the awarded Hong Kong production of Bodyguards and Assassins, for which she was named Best Newcomer of the Year by the Hong Kong Directors Guild. To top it all off, she’s tall — at least, taller than her Asian counterparts — has an amazing face, and stands out from a crowd by being Chris Lee in a room full of other women.

Multiple-talent threats are often easy to hate because they think they do it all, but in reality they don’t really excel at anything. A few singers who think they can act come to mind, or actors that think they can sing. And even though, Chris may not really excel in any, she’s so difficult to hate because she doesn’t have that superiority air that plagues self-professed artistes. Every time she’s on stage performing or receiving some award, she stands there with an air of a person that’s cool, but also with hints of humility.

I think it’s time for a “time-lapse” tag, don’t you?

I think it’s amazing how some shots look like a scale model.

Ok, I don’t think Interscope or Gaga knows the meaning of “Clean Version” LOL, but oh well. I’m posting the “Explicit” version, which is not very “Explicit,” just a couple of Mother F Words, and some very brief nudity.

I thought this could give some competition to MIA’s Born Free for Most Talked About, or Best Long Form of Music Video, but it didn’t have the same impact. It does have a better balance of Music and Video, though.

In the case you don’t wanna see the Explicit Version, or you can’t see it because you don’t have a YouTube account, or you’re underage. Here’s the Clean Version link.

Things to point out? Gaga did a Smooth Criminal move right when getting out of jail, right? And Kill Bill’s Pussy Wagon makes a big appearance, right? xD

Also, licking the bar of your cell? Kinda gross.

Also gross? Smelling Gaga’s cigarette glasses…

I don’t know if you know my thoughts on Gaga? [just added a lady gaga tag here], but I don’t think she’s the best. She’s interesting in today’s music scene, and her live performances are events. Her music is so-so, her dance is so-so, but it’s all about the whole package, right? She freaks me out in a way I can respect her. Having said that, I would love to photograph her concert.

Not gonna tag this as trailer yet, because I need a graphic, and I’m gonna miss that photo of Yu-chan from Raiou… LOL but it seems like Shanghai doesn’t have a distributor in America? What? Is it because the only major American star there is Cusack and the rest are Asian? But it’s got Harvey!

Gong Li is pure hotness here.

And though Kikuchi is not credited on this Chinese trailer, I’m pretty sure she’s in it. As well as Franka Potente. Both will probably show up in the Japanese trailer, and the International trailer.

Call it subtext. TOO much subtext.

Actually, can I just say Bibi’s face in the last few seconds of the video, on the close-up, she looks really really GOOD. Like her face is amazing on that shot. And you get DOUBLE amazing face. I was wondering there… “OMG, is she going to do it?” It was tension… did you feel it?

EDIT
The Youku version seems to look better than the YouTube one. After all, it does say it’s HD (高清) – Gao Qing means High Clarity, hence HD… though had to look where to turn the HD on xD HD is so much simpler…

EDIT 2
Found the proper version by Typhoon Group (Bibi’s company), so in case you want the Youku one.

as far as music goes? I think it works with the image, though I don’t know how that will translate on overall album work… I am getting curious. I miss original Bibi though, I need to hear her original voice. Her lower voice is so awesome… she’s so eclectic on Canned Fish.

I wonder why Canned Fish too…

All I think about when saying Canned Fish is THIS Canned Fish. You know? The One? With rice… I grew up… or I mean, didn’t grow up with that one. Guilty pleasure. Always reminds me of my grandfather. That and fried eggs on white rice and soy sauce. Classic.

You know I’m a sucker for traditional music fused with modern music, so it wasn’t a surprise that I’ve gone pretty nuts about the Yoshida Brothers thanks to this post.

Though I am unsure on how their discography works (Japanese releases and International releases), since I don’t know if all of the albums contain different songs, or if some of the releases are just compilation of others.

Anyway, Rising blew me away.

as did KODO (literally meaning palpitation)

https://youtu.be/Ron17xFNBf0

but not only do they do this, they also do fusion with blues, latin music, and even celtic!

You know Back to the Future? xD
You know the hovering skate board Marty used?

I would so totally try to get this if it worked.

The Hoverboard is a project made by Nils guadagnin, a young french artist. This work is born in 2008 for an exhibition named “Back To the future”.

It is a copy of the hoverboard from the movie Back to the Future II. Integrated into the board and the plinth is an electromagnetic system which levitates the board. A laser system stabilises the object in the air.

I won’t really link to the article because it mainly mentions her private life, and I know the video does mention it  a bit, but her people — because that was “her people”, right? ushered reporters away in the end.

Can I just say the exhibit looks pretty awesome? A room with big pictures of Yu Aoi… in 3D and those cute 3D glasses is a win for me.

[iframe width=”560″ height=”349″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/gPIKqa82Ik0?rel=0″]

I bothered to get some of the captions…

“蒼井優展を開くきっかけは”
The Yu Aoi Exhibit to Open

“個展を開くにあたっての感想は”
Your impressions on the opening of the exhibit

“実際に見た感想は”
The impressions on what you see (?)

“うそ をテーマにした訳は”
Conclusions of the theme of “Lies.”

“うそ をついたことは”
Ever lied? (?)

and a last caption pertaining her private life.

Anyway… I think it’s funny hearing all the giggles in the background, it makes it look like all the female reporters are totally smitten by her. Though, to be fair… I think Japan is smitten with any of their celebrities.

Hmm… wouldn’t it be GUERRILLA? Just saying.

Julz has decided to send me anything regarding Hyori (or Bi), and well… can’t really complain, can I? But to be honest, this Guerilla Date show scares the crap out of me. Fans in hordes scare me.

Having said that, Hyori is such a good idol. She is SO charismatic, and she’s not scared of making fun of herself — maybe that comes from hanging out so much with Jaesuk. OJO! I didn’t say she’s a great artist or performer, I said idol. She’s got so much personality, and you can’t help but keep looking.

Hyori cracked me up with talks about comparisons with Beyonce and Lady Gaga… blond wigs, and smiling with her gums. Don’t worry, unnie. Your smiling face is the best ;P

One of the highlights of Glee — besides the over the top sap, musical numbers, and teenager-ness — is how crass Sue Sylvester is. I still worship the “Yes, We Cane” line.

Anyway, on a very candid 30-min interview, Couric asks pretty much everything about Lynch, from her beginnings as an actress, on why Glee is such a big hit, and why people love Sue Sylvester. My favorite bit of the whole thing? Couric asking Lynch about people that can’t accept gay people. Lynch’s response?

There are some people who will never shift. And that’s OK. They’ll probably be dead soon.

Totally burst out laughing.

Interview below the break~
