This 2005 film stars Yuya Yagira (Tetsumu), of Dare mo Shiranai (Nobody Knows) fame – a role that earned him the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival – as a young man who wants to become the first Japanese elephant trainer.

I NEVER EVER do nomination predictions… and considering my Golden Globes winner predictions, consider this attempt of mine at predicting a bit rubbish.
Oscar nominations are in about 9 days… and BAFTA nominations are in 2 days. O.O
With that said, I also found another problem… not knowing what films are considered withing the date range, so I am ONLY using films that are listed on IMDb as 2008 productions.
Also, I’m predicting almost all categories, including technical awards like Best Film Editing, Best Visual Effects – except Documentary Short, Short Film Animated, Short Film Live Action… because I haven’t seen any shorts. Also no prediction on Documentary Feature. Is Man on Wire a lock on that???

Seriously, I don’t know why I watch Red Carpet anymore… I used to watch for Joan and Melissa Rivers, lol’ But oh well… award season is not award season without red carpets, I guess… xD

Olivia Wilde looks hot… lol’ Red Carpet rolls eye comment… – can’t find any photos online… yet. LOL Hmm… well, I’m tired of waiting and searching for photos. I’m gonna do a half-ass job here, and not post any pictures. I don’t usually do that, but thought that it will be easier this year. Oh well…

BIG win for Anne Hathaway!! ~~ and Meryl Streep. I mean, not such a big win for Meryl ‘coz she’s got a gazillion awards, but it was BIG for Anne… and her speech, I liked that it was mostly not about her. LOL’ And she was emotional… major points for an Oscar win. An Oscar win should bring her to tears… no? Oscar loves that, right? Emotional Best Actress…
I got 12/16, pretty amazing~~ Slumdog Millionaire won BIG too., including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Writing, Best Young Actor, and Best Composer (aka, Best Score). Not sure about the score win, but oh well. Also… BIG loss for Benjamin Button.
Other winners… Milk for Best Ensemble and Best Actor, The Dark Knight for Best Supporting Actor, Best Action Movie. And Kate Winslet for The Reader, which I haven’t seen yet~~ For the winners, go here.

I got a little help for the “Best Kisses” list which I haven’t worked on in… a year? They reminded me of Meet Joe Black. I remember the day I saw Meet Joe Black – I was in high school, and had gotten terribly sick, so I rented a couple of films. I always thought I had fallen asleep in the middle of the film due to my illness, years later I found out that I always dozed off in the same part~~ LOL However, it IS an interesting film…
Anyway, Meet Joe Black is the HOTTEST I’ve seen Brad Pitt, plus the peanut butter scene… peanut butter will never be the same after this film. But the peanut butter has nothing to do with this Best Kiss.
Brad Pitt and Claire Forlani kiss… what? Twice? But that scene… that LONG scene of them just sort of hovering around each other, then giving a little kiss, and Forlani taking his shirt off to ‘make love’ to Death. And Death is a virgin… and there’s dramatic music~~ and nice bright light.

Only 9 days left, no? How is your movie watching? I think I did a lot of movie watching over the holidays… only missing a few couples. Some predictions and comments after the break…
Can’t believe it’s almost like >this< to the end of the year on this side of the world… and even less time on the other side of the world. Actually, by the time I wake up again, it will be 2009 on that side of the world most likely.
Oh, the memories… how time flies by. What have I done? I feel I’ve done so very little…
One oft he few things I feel I’ve done is YAM [help yourself to some leftover YAM] – and I would like to continue with that. As a special something, this is a little of what we talked on the issue.
Let the Right One In, the Swedish film… which is probably MY favorite film of the year. Though, I saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button last night and WHOA. Blew me away… but that’s not on YAM. LOL – What’s on YAM? There are also reviews on Blindness, Slumdog Millionaire, and Twilight. Yes, Julyssa decided to review Twilight for us… how brave of her! xD – And yes, please? Go watch Slumdog Millionaire (or Benjamin Button) at least once, instead of watching Twilight for the 20th time… just like Lainey says.
I also reviewed music… Britney’s comeback Circus, Marit Larsen, Guns N’ Roses, Taylor Swift and DBSK. There are music, film and tv news… also a review on Season 3 of Dexter. PLUS! There’s more! Book reviews!! One of them features Yu!
Yeah! For Frak’s sake~~ I’m doing what others are ‘afraid’ to do. I’m mixing West and Asian entertainment.
