How can we measure the popularity of a TV show or a film?

I just finished watching the latest Desperate Housewives episode… episode 100!! But I’m still DYING to see the newest episode of the last The L Word season~~~ AND, the newest Showtime Toni-Collette-starring-Diablo-Cody-written-30-min-dark-comedy~~ (yes, that’s one word) United States of Tara.

DH aired at 9pm (at the same time that TLW airs), but still no hint of the episode of TLW… why is that? Is it because TLW isn’t as popular as DH? Is it because TLW airs on Showtime? But Dexter also airs on Showtime… though I’m pretty sure Dexter takes a little while to show up~~ The fact is… I have no idea why I’m dying to watch The L Word tonight. Maybe it’s because I have to wake up early tomorrow meaning that I wouldn’t be able to watch the episode until later today. LOL Combine that with my left-over anxiety left from last season’s Molly+Shane… and lack of web comments on tonight’s episode.

I would assume that people that watch Showtime are more web savvy than the people that tend to watch ABC, so I’m sure someone that watches TLW would be able to make IT happen.

*sighs*

Now… if only I could get Showtime in Peru. Cable Magico *hint hint nudge nudge* … *punch punch* get it? And cut that crap of “Latin American version of *insert name of channel*”.

OK… back on my subject~~~ I know the more popular the film is, the faster it hits the internet. Is it the same for shows? Or does it have to do with target audience?

Just to Spite You~~

LOL, Canadian Government, xD

Four months ago (maybe five) I had a ticket to see BackStreet Boys at GM Place in Vancouver, but Canada didn’t let me in even though my friend was getting married. So I missed her wedding, missed seeing my friends and I missed BSB. Damn you, Canada.

Anyhoo, later I find that BSB is coming here. Crappy end of the deal? “Mundo Pop” is not a BSB show. CRAPPY. Also in the show is Belanova, which is pretty bleh, and Adammo (??) Who the frak. Oh, yeah~ and tickets are pricey. And there are a LOT of sections. You know, normally should be 2 zones… General and VIP, but NO! We take zones to another whole new level~~~ First, we took it to Super VIP. Yeah, there’s a Super Zone, but that’s not it! Take this concert as an example… there’s General, Preferencial, VIP… Super VIP… Kandavu (the company organizing the concert), and then there’s BSB. Normally, I would’ve chucked the price of the ticket~ Like I did Bjork. xD

I was about to buy a BSB zone, but let’s face it… ++$100 for a ticket is not exactly MY thing. said the one who wouldn’t chuck $60 to see Dixie Chicks. LOL’ – I still buy cds, so I still give away my money. There should be a deal, right? Show receipt of a recent (name of the tour) album and get a discount. xD

BSB en Lima Ticket

Also, Belanova doesn’t seem to fit with BSB… just saying. But I’ve got an open mind, I will let both groups try to impress me. But yeah… I’m paying this just to spite Canadian Gov. LOL otherwise I wouldn’t have chucked that money xD

Because I did. Malditos promotores! How on earth am I supposed to find out people are coming if you don’t bombard me with printed stuff on magazines, newspapers, cable commercials, or even a pityful data addition at Eventful. Continue Reading…

Chinese stories? Yah, in the Western Media.

Last week or so, my mother woke up to some news reporter, what else, talking about the Olympics. Such news report, title Cuento Chino (Chinese Story, as in Tall Tales?), broadcast sometime on Sunday (probably Reportajes) in Canal 2 (Frecuencia Latina).

Furious, my mother wrote a letter to one of those so-called opinion columns, for Somos magazine that is part of El Comercio newspaper.

Here is the copy of her email to them.

**EDIT** They’re NOT coming. Check the comments~ xD

Okay, seems like I have been totally out of the loop here because I just found out that Motorokr Fest will be over the weekend (this Saturday to be precise). I blame it all on poor promotion… the event has totally been overshadowed by cable commercials about the Olympics, which will begin one day before the fest.

I would have never EVER known about it, if I hadn’t subscribed to Eventful back when Bjork was coming… so I checked my email today, and saw this in the event list.

First reaction was, HOLY SHIT! Goo Goo Dolls is coming??? I was also surprised about Lifehouse~~~ I wonder if my cousin is going. *looks for him and asks*

OK, it’s official~~~ The event has the worst promotion EVER. My cousin just found out when I told him. **EDIT** My friend doesn’t know anything about the event either, HA!

Such a pity, really… most important, the company selling the tickets (tuentrada.com.pe)- I didn’t EVEN KNOW that they existed. Never have seen a commercial by them, makes me iffy. It’s not like I love Teleticket (who also has a TERRIBLE website) – Wouldn’t Ticketmaster want to come??? I’ve gotten a pretty great service from them the times when I’ve bought tickets from them. xD

**EDIT** There’s also no info about the concert on Lifehouse’s Website or MySpace.
**EDIT** Molotov’s website shows the date as a CANCELED GIG.
**EDIT** No news if Cuarteto de Nos is/will or was ever on. Most likely that the event was entirely canceled, in which case organizers should update their online info.

**LAST EDIT** Just checked the Eventful site, and they finally put the cancelled tag on it.

I always browse around the web, and I’ve bought some niftyness over the past years. Today I met up with Diana, who gave me a belated b-day. Even more belated than Julyssa’s Greta Garbo Book. And YAY!

Dianisha gave Amy a belated b-day clock. His name is Bob… Continue Reading…

Juliette Binoche - hc916After obsessing just a bit with watching Dan in Real Life, HBO showed a re-run of Chocolat. I love the movie, mainly because of the Chocolate-y goodness… I can just smell the chocolate coming from the TV. LOL’ Anyway, after that, I was on the boards at IMDB and run into a transcript of a recent interview with Juliette Binoche. Since it’s posted on the forum, you would need to have an IMDB account – so I’m posting here…

From Sweden to Peru with loads of Love~~

From Peru to Sweden~~

We love you back~~ =D

Forever and ever and always~~

Sassa Brassa Mandelmassa – JURYSSA, JURYSSA, JURYSSA!!!! xD

People have been checking out this space for the reviews of the concert that Bjork gave in Lima on Nov. 13 – I, myself, have been searching the net for pictures and reviews, but I’ve found short to nothing detailed… and I haven’t found photos, like nice kick ass photos, which sucks major donkey butt. However, I’ve found some videos on YouTube, it took me like 1hr on November th 15th to get some videos, and not all are online… or some are but are not on my the playlist I’ve made, but feel free to search for them.

Here is the link to the playlist: Bjork en Lima

I took the liberty to take some captures, that look really crappy… but at least you can see them… Continue Reading…

Gracias… Gracias… or Muchas Gracias!

Bjork was cool. Other than the fact that I was forbidden to take my camera… and I was told it was gonna be restricted… I saw many people with cameras and I was a bit pissed. From my point of view, just a little above 5′ tall… I saw a few heads and a whole bunch of arms from where I was standing… and the seldom view of Bjork. Again, she was cool. My place? Not so much.

While waiting for the concert to begin, we had some electro beats mixed with something reminiscing of Japanese or Chinese opera. Prensa Nikkei would surely have enjoyed that bit, though I don’t know if people realized this… I was expecting someone to come out wearing a kabuki mask at any minute! When finally, it stopped. Lights went out, except for the dark lights, and a brief intro that sounded like It’s Oh So Quiet began, soon it faded as the stage was getting filled up with the members of the band, the choir… I don’t think there’s ever been as many Icelandic people in Lima – and finally, Bjork herself.

Earth Intruders began playing.

The lights were pretty nice, and the sound was better than what I was expecting, for sure… but still I wished they had used a couple of screens, just so you could see her in there, even if you couldn’t see her because of all the heads and arms with cameras…

Since I had no camera, I will have to trust my memory… which more often than not, sucks ass. After Earth Intruders, she sang Hunter – I’m pretty sure – or was it Hyperballad? LOL’ I was trying to take a look at her, and enjoy the music… but I was often taken out of my reverie by people pushing me, or trying to steal my place… and flashes in my face.

The tracklist was good and varied… the more rocking Army of Me, and I Miss You were there~~ actually, the concert really became more powerful right after Bjork grabbed the microphone and said something like;

Stop taking photographs, we are almost at the end. Enjoy the music, we are in a live concert not  documenting this.

The more sensitive people kept their cameras down after that, although some retards began taking a few more. You could tell Bjork really cared about it, and thus you learn to respect her opinion. At the beginning she wasn’t really there… in fact, I noticed she approached the side of the stage I was more closed to less than the opposite side, because there were many people with their cameras up! She must have thought, if you keep doing this… I will not stay on this side for too long.

After people began enjoying the concert for what it was, Bjork exploded with energy and started bouncing up and down and shaking her head as if trying to tell us she’s seen Gloria Trevi perform “Pelo Suelto” – LOL’ – The singing became superb, and in some numbers I could feel my eyes water a bit because she was here… lol. Bjork was in Lima, but better than her acknowledging Peru or Lima, it was exciting because I was there hearing her sing, talk and seeing her bounce and shake. It was quite emotional actually, haha.

Bjork looks in person, just as you could imagine… short, peculiar… radiant, and glowing creativity! She talked twice, once saying that about the cameras… and the other to say that her Spanish wasn’t very good, but that she was happy to be in Peru. And, of course, the usual Gracias, or Muchas Gracias after each song hahaha. I think most people were getting like “well, duh!” – She also yelled Viva La Revolucion right before the full encore, Declare Independence.

Overall, the concert was good… you can tell, though I missed some of my fave songs like Venus as a Boy, or Big Time Sensuality, or Oceania… and I wished I had my spikes on so I could poke people around me. LOL’
