Music for Free!?

July 19, 2008 — Leave a comment

Over a year ago, I wrote a lengthy post on downloading stuff with P2P or torrents, as well as legal downloads. In that post I mention I only had 2 legal downloaded albums from iTunes (Canada), and yes… now I probably got a few more (I got two more just a couple of weeks ago), and AM still waiting for Amazon MP3 to go international… is it offering this service already?? I must test for my next digital purchase.

**EDIT**
Amazon MP3 is still NOT international.
Amazon MP3 - Not International Yet

Anyway~ do you buy music? Do you support your favorite artist? Continue Reading…

Back in 2003 (yeah, most likely that year), I found a group called The Sunwater Diaries… It must’ve been between 2003 and 2004 because I was a fresh student of web stuff, I remember. It’s also because I wrote the group an email a couple of times… I wanted to work with them on a website, and I also wanted to get the lyrics to their song. They had two songs online, and I remember I downloaded it for free on a site that is no longer online (I think it was Vitaminic or something like that) – and then The Sunwater Diaries went *POOF*. E-mails began bouncing, and their sites went down.

You see, The Sunwater Diaries was a Canadian duo… his name’s Derek McKinley (yes, luckily I didn’t lose all emails), and her name’s Beth Henderson. Yes, Henderson… she’s sisters with Meredith Henderson, and that’s how I found them. Problem with that? LOL’

Dr. Horrible\'s Sing-Along Blog

WTH, man. If you’re in the US, go ahead… watch it! If you have an idea how to work around this issue, let me know!

**EDIT** July 16
Ok, the fangirl in me googled ‘other’ sources for this, and read an article that said that there were some issues with regions. And I was able to see it just now!!! Though my friend claims that he still doesn’t see it…

INSTANT LOVE! Neil Patrick Harris as the villain, I love it! Super geeky, super funny… Nathan Fillion is pretty funny too, but NPH is just TOO funny. xD Can’t wait for episode 2

Dr. Horrible Crashes Servers.

It’s been like a month and a half since I last blogged about the music I’ve been listening. Of course I’m totally loving my Salyu albums since last post, and have been digging my Japanese trend these past few weeks… you wouldn’t believe. Everything Asian… le sigh. xD Including a lot of Asian films, therefore a lot of Asian Soundtrack additions because Amy loves her some soundtrack music.

So… I saw the Linda Linda Linda movie the other day, and I got the songs stucked in my head. LOL’ The film released 2 soudntracks of sorts… One the official soundtrack, and one 6-track album performed by the actresses of the film as PARAN MAUM (Meaning Blue Hearts in Korean, referring to the * Blue Hearts covers).

* The original soundtrack contains 3 of the 6 tracks in “we are PARANMAUM” with bits with less lyrics.

  1. RINDA RINDA (Linda Linda) *
  2. Boku no Migite (My Right Hand) *
  3. Owaranai Uta (Never-ending Song) *
  4. Aoi Kokoro (Underneath Heart)
  5. BIZU Saiku (Beading)
  6. SON no BARUDO (Son’s Ballad)

Heloise, Wallis Bird and Alanis for Download

It’s not yesterday, but I decided to post 3 tracks for the 3 year anniversary. If you might have a request, post a comment in this post. I might have it and post it, or I might find it and post it. These links will go inactive when people stop downloading (or most likely in 7 days because I don’t have a sendspace account), and won’t post again. Support your favorite artist, and good music!

Alanis Morissette – In Praise of the Vulnerable Man (Sendspace)
Heloise & the Savoir Faire – On Fuego (Sendspace) [really hard to find album torrent]
Wallis Bird – Blossoms in the Street (Sendspace) [really hard to find torrent aswell]

A little over a year ago, I blogged some music. I had discovered Kazumi & Maia, and it has been the most difficult thing to get their lyrics coz no one blogs them. Le sigh~~~ And their website (Record Company Website) wasn’t helpful either… Le sigh sigh~~~ u_U

Who are Kazumi & Maia? They are two Japanese women in France who do crazy genre music fusion in French and Japanese… or so called ‘chanson franco-japonaise” ~ Le gasp!! One of my best online music findings, because it was instant love! But if no one blogs them, how are they to become popular?? So I decided to blog them because I found out that Amazon.com has their album “L’Amitie” in their site. As of this moment, the item it’s listed as “out of stock” but they also have a note saying they’ll deliver it when they get it.

The hard-copy album, I think, it’s a bit pricey… BUT it DOES come with a so-called “Bonus DVD”, so who knows… it migth be worth it. Considering the state of their online ‘presence’, it makes me wonder if they would take much care to make a really kick ass bonus disc, though…. Le sigh sigh~ So if hard-copy is not your thing, you can get it through Amazon MP3 – you see, the good thing about digital downloads is that it’s always in stock, LOL – and if you’re not a US IP user (until Amazon MP3 turns international… when is that happening anyway??!?! I thought it was soon~~), you can get the album through Calabash Music.

Hahaha, the reason we love Nodame Cantabile is because Juri Ueno as lovable Nodame. Now, if you don’t know the series, you will still love this behind the scene of Juri Ueno singing Nodame’s Fart Exercise song.

It turns out that the song was so popular, Juri recorded a small album with kids songs. You can find the lyrics in Japanese, Romaji and English translation of the funnyness in here. (also includes imeem link)

RASUTO FURENZU’s Orignial Soundtrack was released like 4 days ago! It includes the drool-inducing version of the Main Theme, Prisoner of Love, in its Quiet Instrumental Piano version. The Utada Hikaru single of the song includes 4 tracks, which include the regular version, the Quiet Version, and both tracks on Karaoke Version. However, the Quiet Instrumental Piano Version on the OST is the best! Because it’s on the show, duh!

Original music for a show? American TV shows ask. Yes, most of the tracks on this OST are instrumental pieces, unlike Western shows which oftentimes use hand-picked from a handful of artists, who are willing to license their music for cheap. Not complaining much of it, because some are great… but this TV soundtrack makes it more especial, non?

You can buy the OST on YesAsia.com – Leave ya with the drool-inducing Instrumental Piano version of Prisoner of Love. [here a couple more tracks]
