Archives For 2009

Today, two years ago, I began using WordPress!

I’ve gone through… several WordPress updates (some of them messing up with the website), many CSS styles~~~~ and a LOT of topic changes AND even MORE~~~ category additions~~~ and of course, one of the first proper posts was a rant, coz Amy loves ranting. xD However, in those days and age~~~ Amy ranted about many topics into one post~ the rant turned from a Dixie Chicks forum heated discussion, to how crappy Jennifer Hudson winning an Oscar was. LOL I still feel the same way though~~ Rinko Kikuchi so totally kicked major butt there~~~

Topics haven’t changed much actually… I still rant about Oscar, and AM so into Japanese films. Haven’t seen much Rinko Kikuchi since then though… as I am still waiting for Brothers Bloom to come out anywhere I might be able  to watch.

Similar to today, a year ago… well not exactly today, since I didn’t blog on March 3rd 2008 –  but 7th, I blogged Julyssa’s Greta Garbo’s book gift. WOOOOOOO – Julyssa!!! It’s been a year since that gift!! Thank you SOOOOO much. Greta Garbo photographs are sooooooo AWEsome. Ne? xD

So thank you, WordPress~ Two years together! xD

I’m a Pure Geek…

March 3, 2009 — 4 Comments

which I already knew.

22 % Nerd, 61% Geek, 13% Dork

xD

It’s not that you’re a school junkie, like the nerd, and you don’t really stand out in a crowd, like the dork, you just have some interests that aren’t quite mainstream. Perhaps it’s anime, perhaps it’s computers, perhaps it’s bottlecaps, perhaps it’s all of those and more. Your interests take you to events and gatherings that are filled with people you find unusual and beyond-the-pale, but you don’t quite consider yourself “of that crowd.” Instead, you consider yourself to be fairly normal.

Which, you are.

Congratulations! You’re the one on the RIGHT!

Of course I am…

I must have died and gone to heaven… xD I’m listening to Salyu, who just released a two-track single titled Corteo/HALFWAY, which you can download over at the Salyu LJ Community… which I just found. Heaven!

There, I also found out that Salyu’s turn as Lily Chou Chou on the Shunji Iwai film of the similar name (where Yu shows up) that sprang a double album… including Breathe (Kokyu) has been re-released. Why is that GOOD? Well, because Kokyu was totally sold out online… and it’s probably one of the finest contemporary albums out there. So now I just gotta get money to buy it hahahahaha.

CD Japan – $24.26
YesAsia – $27.25
Amazon.co.jp – 2.500 Yen

Also, apparently… she also released Mercmal in THREE different editions… the regular (of course!), one limited edition with a DVD of a concert in Yohohama, and another limited edition with and extra album with her collaboration work. Call me crazy, I want just the DVD with her collaboration work, I think. I’m split! I think I want the concert more… since apparently the other only has 3 tracks? I’m not sure I want to pay +$30 for a greatest hits album… I’m undecided!!! LOL

Let’s see…
Amazon.co.jp has the two limited edition out of stock, and only has the regular one at 3000 Yen.
CD JAPAN has the limited collaboration edition at $32.99, and the regular edition at $29.11.
And YesAsia still has the limited with DVD edition at $40.25, the regular edition at $31.25.

I’ll leave you with the Salyu Merkmal 2009 Tour pics. Wish she’d come here xD

For some of Salyu’s discography, check this post.

Gotta be careful, I could yawn and it will be December next. LOL’

So award season is over… but that only means it’s time to begin the hunt once again~~ Posts on February reached the +40 mark… in fact, I matched my December record of 44 posts. And considering February has less days, well~~ Here come the quiet months though… March, April, May. They kill me.

Also, don’t forget the BackStreet Boys…

Plus… Yu Aoi Film Discussion~~~ Next up is Otoko-tachi no Yamato – or Yamato for short. Still there, haven’t found the time to re-watch that ++++ Hachimitsu to KURO~BA~ or Honey & Clover. Haven’t forgotten…

Today though… next to last episode of The L Word, which ends next week with a 2hr episode… not looking forward to IT per se, but AM looking forward to just finish once and for all. LOL’ To ger your Sholly (Shane+Molly) fix – do your thing.

Experiment Awards 2009

February 28, 2009 — 11 Comments

Just for experiment purpose ONLY. Picking nominees during award season is a tough job, considering the people in charge have to sit through hundreds of films in a certain period of time to just pick them… then they probably have to see them once again to refresh their memories and pick a winner.

Even like that, there’s still people upset about not nominated and nominated films… right? You know who you are~~ Stop complaining and do something.

Amy's Experiment Awards 2009

That’s why I wanted to do some experimenting… have our own awards. Well, no~ we don’t have the money to have famous people… or to have a proper ceremony, or to make our own awards to hand out physically. Actually, we have nothing but our will to watch films, comment and try to get others to watch those films, but that will be enough~~ I think.

These would be the rules for films:

  1. All films, regardless of language, are eligible
  2. Only movies listed on IMDb on the year of the award, or released between February January to December in any city of any country around the world are eligible.
  3. Films with a very limited release, and/or problems with distribution will likely have points for them and might be eligible for the next two years.
  4. Since all the nominated films could be foreign, there will be no “Best Foreign Film” award.
  5. Sorry. No documentaries or shorts at the moment.

Rules for the voters:

  1. To be able to nominate the films you watch throughout February to December, you must AT LEAST watch one movie a week. That means at least 48 movies that year. Of course you can watch all 48 films in December instead, but that’d be rushing it, no?
  2. Each voter must do their nomination (5 nominees per category) list by the first week of January (January 7th, duh).
  3. Official nominations will be announced three days later on January 10th.
  4. Voters will be able to choose their winners from January 11th to January 28th, allowing them to re-watch their nominations and/or watch the nominated films they couldn’t watch before.
  5. Winners will be announced by the end of the month on January 31st.

Hmm… I think I covered most of all. If I have forgotten to deal with something, let me know on a comment or an e-mail. Also, if you’re interested in becoming a voter, make sure you do the same… e-mail, comment… anything. The more, the better the experiment will run, right?

Meh~ screencapped my other ones as well…

LivingSocial: Books

I interrupt all those BackStreet Boys posts to show you my Facebook album/music application… I’m not an apps whore. I do not add every single application and ‘nifty’ test I get send by my friends. In fact, I almost always block everything now. Because I’m a bitch like that… LOL’ I do, however, have a couple of applications I always use… mainly Music, Movies, Books, and TV… the seldom Flickr one and those are pretty much that from public applications. I also use a travel application, but that’s estrictly for myself…

Anyway… here it goes~~~

LivingSocial: Albums - TuneSocial

Okay, if you haven’t read the Quickie one, do so here

I needed some time to find the setlist, which I couldn’t really find so you’ll have to rely on my memory and how it connects the online videos of the concert. Lucky for you, Wikipedia did a fairly good job… I think.

It’s 4.20am, so quit it. I worked hard to get those photos out as soon as I could… over 700 photos, that were reduced to a little over 600, because 100 shots were awful. I managed to get at least 20% useable photos, some pretty good too~

But you’ll see…

All photos are not public yet, only half… but I’m already tired. They will be made public this afternoon. They are about 145 photos. Low resolution… big enough to post online and share via e-mail. If you do, a link back to amy-wong.com ~~ you’d better do.

For bigger resolution, I mean… RAW files~ or big JPGs, email me~ all contact info needed in the following link with the photos…

Head over here… watch and read.

BackStreet Boys

That one up there is a big stitch… 4 photos into one.

… Review.

Just got back about 30min. ago from the BackStreet Boys concert in Lima.

Prayer circle before the show in Peru! on TwitPic

And the only thing I have to say, I was not dissapointed. Even though the event started as annoying, and the male Bouncers lack the BALLS. Guess what! Female Bouncers carry the balls around these concerts~ Yes, they were the only ones who didn’t take shit from those who wanted to stand in the alley.

Arrived just in time, when Adammo was singing. Meh, they were okay~~ Their lights sucked though, so couldn’t get many pictures. They had that chick from Latin American Idol… you know, the one everyone says can’t sing? LOL’ – what’s her name… Sandra Muente – The girls behind me actually said Nicole Pillman sings better. I’m of the opinion neither does that great…

Then came Belanova, which was an UMPH better than Adammo, but hey! They are supposed to be less new, right? But stil, wasn’t too impressed with them. The lead singer, Denisse Guerrero, reminded me of  Jenny Schecter… which is not exactly a good thing, you know? – Mia Kirshner is prettier though.

And UGH, did they have to sing something from High School Musical? WTF, whatever song that was. High School Musical, please~~~ get a fucking grip! Funny thing is, when the singer announced it was their last song and they were leaving us with the BackStreet Boys, everyone stood up and SCREAMED their shit out. I actually felt really bad for both groups…

I did see a bunch buying the Adammo album though, so not so bad about it.

The WORSE part about those two, and the waiting for the BSB show was the freaking fans trying to sneak in the front rows through pretending to ‘just stand’ in the alley. Funniest shit about that? Everyone united together in a freaking epic battle against them calling the Bouncers, and shouting at them.

Once the police got involved – you know, nothing too serious… they just came in – all those ‘people’ (more like cattle) went to their backseats, and we all cheered just like Mel on Braveheart. Hilarious.

Then finally, the lights went out and the show began. It was AWESOME. Just what I’m gonna say until I get to work on my photos which will probably be in the afternoon, after my class. I took my 8Gb card, and it’s at least filled up to half. According to my calculations, I should be going through around 700 or 800 high resolution photographs.

In the meantime? How about some BSB Twitter

OMG Peru!!! You guys are NO joke.

Wow. We almost killed a lot of Peruvian people. They were attacking our car and we almost ran over a whole lot of you.

LOL!

Just a tease… the show had a bunch of medleys of good old BSB songs – Quit Playin’ Games, I’ll Never Break your Heart, As Long As You Love Me, All I Have to Give, Everybody, Larger than Life, I Want it that Way, Show me the Meaning, The One, Spanish Eyes… or in this case “Peruvian Eyes” LOL, The Call, Shape of my Heart, More than That, Incomplete~~

Can’t really recall if they sang Everyone though~~

Videos online should be making its way through the week~

Photos this afternoon, or over the weekend~~~

Also! They said they were making the new album (as they mention on Twitter), and that they’d be back.
