Archives For sarah polley

… and Seth Rogen.
I mean, really… Seth Rogen? Okay…

After the success that was Away from Her in 2007-2008, Sarah Polley is ready to get back to the director’s chair… this time around with a romantic comedy titled Take this Waltz. Polley wrote the script while editing Away from Her, and decided to finally finish it up.

The film, about a love triangle in which Michelle Williams’ character struggles with infidelity will have her starring opposite Seth Rogen and another man, yet to be cast.

Can I suggest Ryan Gosling? xD

Because you want to see Blue Valentine, right?

As always, I think I’m a little off with the guys. O.o
I feel the list is a bit uninspiring, LOL

In original audio!!!! LOL

Because I hate dubbing in general, but I have something against Spain’s Spanish dubbing… You can probably say it’s because of those “black market” Dragon Ball Spanish-dubbed videos my cousin used to buy. Ha!

Anyway, trailer is not okay for work or public places… *TV announcer’s voice* Viewer discretion is advised.

Map of the Sounds of Tokyo is directed by Isabel Coixet, who also worked on My Life without Me (with Sarah Polley), and you can read all about it LOL over at Nippon Cinema which has an article translated by me.

Of course, I’m a fan of Rinko Kikuchi (or check out my comments (comment #2) on how she was snubbed), so this pretty much goes to my list of ‘want to watch’ ~~~ hopefully this year. Also, Rinko Kikuchi has a bunch of new projects… including that horribly-delayed Brothers Bloom picture with Rachel Weisz, and Mark Ruffalo… and a Japanese remake for Sideways *legasp!* I don’t want to have bad feelings about it… and the fairly-recent announced Norwegian Wood with Kenichi Matsuyama.

If you tend to watch a lot of TV and movies, and are good with faces and names, you begin noticing familiar faces throughout the years. It is then, by chance, that you suddenly discover that you have in fact been finding bright new talents… or hidden talents. You know their faces, you know where you’ve seen them, but you can’t quite get their names until you research, and never will it happen again.

I’ve been an avid procrastinator for the past 12 years of my life, ha! I’ve watched a lot of TV and movies (more in recent years), and I’ve found myself saying “Well, he/she looks awfully familiar. Haven’t I seen him/her somewhere before?” Yes, yes I have. And that gives me a fuzzy feeling… a fuzzy special something that makes me think I’ve got this tiny little treasure, and I saw it… sort of first.

Oscar Nominees Announced!

January 22, 2008 — 1 Comment

Nominees for this year’s Oscar nominations were announced while I was sort of sleeping, so I woke up to CNN’s news announcement! Kinda surprising on some categories, but take a look at the list yourself.

Thoughts? Marion and Julie Christie got a nod, so I’m freaking out, ha! It will all be decided next week in the SAG… but still then, it’s not for sure. Moreover, Ellen Page got a nod! I’m happy for her because I loved watching Juno, but I sure hope she doesn’t become my upset. If anyone should beat Cotillard, it should be Julie Christie. Oh yeah, one kind of a surprise was Laura Linney getting a nod instead of Angelina Jolie who had been getting a few more nods this season.

On the animated front, Persepolis against Ratatouille. Interesting who will win, I will give my vote to Persepolis but it’s most likely that Ratatouille will get this year’s Best Animated Feature, as Finding Nemo got it against Les Triplettes de Belleville.

Overall, La Vie en Rose got 3 nods (Best Actress, Best Costume Design, Best Make-up) while Atonement got 7 nods. But that wasn’t enough to beat No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood, which got 8 nods each. People’s fave, Juno, got 4 nods… and Away from Her got 2 nods (including one for Sarah Polley, woot woot). Diablo Cody got a nod for Best Original Screenplay *woot woot*

The biggest surprise for me where the Foreign Film nods, which went to films that others haven’t even mention… which is great because it makes it really interesting to guess!!
