Avatar is Sweet 3D Eye Candy

December 16, 2009 — 2 Comments

When the first Avatar trailer went up, I asked myself what was that rubbish. Yes, it looked that bad to me. However, I must admit that seeing it on 3D was an experience very close to that of The Terminator show at Universal… after all, both are James Cameron.

This is the first time that I’ve felt that a 3D projection does justice to its 3D medium, and doesn’t just make objects pop out of the screen just because it can. Instead, Avatar pulls you in – in some scenes more than others – and lets you become almost part of it. There’s a scene in particular, in which the antagonist (Colonel Quaritch, played by Stephen Lang) looks through the rear-view mirror and sees himself. The way it was shot makes it seem like WE are there until Quaritch’s reflection hits us back. Is Cameron telling us something?

Nominations are in! Just with a quick look, I’ve only seen 60% of the nominees, so I’m excited to see the rest. Looking good for some of those peoples there. Not really big surprises, except for a couple double nominations  and one double nomination in a category… and some new names in the Foreign category.

My scandalous and ironic side says Peruvians will hate Chile even more (for unnecessary issues) – dearest The Milk of Sorrow didn’t make it to the list.

Also! Jumpy claps for Glee!! and Jumpy bloody hands for Dexter!!

More nominations. Are you keeping up?

These nominations seem like a pretty random bunch. Especially considering Nine has had little to no love until now… with 10 nominations (a big WEEEE for Marion!!), and also finally some love true for Inglourious Basterds~

April 29 – saw The Lost Tomb of Jesus. Pretty boring and general stuff, but good to know I guess… just for general knowledge. The Church just makes such a big deal about it, it just attracts more attention. Worth a watch if you catch it zapping your TV, not worth a wait… Actually, it would make sense to have Jesus ascending to Heaven, and leaving his body <- metaphoric for dying and moving on. But, bleh. No flamers, please.

Next on the list. Spiderman 3- it came out May 3rd! I gloat because *official release date* is May 4th. Anyway, nothing really AWESOME, like some people say. Effects were good, fight scenes were entertaining, and I even got a bit dizzy on one, but 70% of the film was bleh. First, I don’t like Mary Jane much… movie 1 ok, movie 2 not so ok… now, just plain annoying. Gwen was just a bit of a bimbo, and I liked her more than I did MJ. *PLUS* – Bryce Dallas Howard looks weird as a blond blond. She’s too white, lol.

And what is up with Emo Spiderman? He gets Venom infected and he suddenly changes his hairstyle? Lol. Reminds me of the EVIL GOTH MUTANTS from X3. Not all people that dress in black and have messy hair style are EVIL. Oh, Venom~ Venom is cool, when you DON’T consider that Eddie Brock was a wimpy photographer… didn’t like the character. Sandman didn’t look as GREAT as Venom, but I guess his character was ok. And Harry… oh, Harry~ he was okay, I guess.

Biggest turn-off: Peter “John Travolta” Parker.

Best part: Jameson lines, and last final battle… when we finally see Venom.

Today was the day Discovery Channel was gonna premiere The Lost Tomb of Jesus, the James Cameron documentary that everyone is fuzzing about. However, Discovery has decided to postpone the date to April 29th.

FUCK UPS.

Couldn’t you come up with a 15sec video telling me so? I had to fucking google it up to find out????

From cineencuentro.com,

FUCKERS, couldn’t you let me know WAY BEFORE March 18? I had to fucking go INTO the Discovery Channel FORUMS to FUCKING FIND OUT????

From Discovery Channel Forums,

FUCKER DUMB FUCKS~
