Yu Aoi – A Dream by Yoshihiko Ueda – WANIBOOKS

July 13, 2012 — 1 Comment

I know I have been a very bad Yu Aoi fan. First off, I had only a faint idea she was going to release a new photobook via HMV Japan, but since her website didn’t mention a thing, I didn’t think it was such a big deal. In any case, I ran into some of the photographs in my daily runs through Weibo — and voila!

I thought I should buy it. xD

I could be wrong, but this is the first time Yu collaborates with photographer Yoshihiko Ueda (上田義彦) — if you check his website, at the moment, you can see some clear shots included in the photobook.

Part of the PB was shot in NYC — so for all of you Yu-chan fans living in NYC… she was there and you didn’t know~~~ hahaha. And the other part of the book was shot in Hayama (葉山), Kanagawa prefecture. The whole concept of the book is that of “dreaming” so there’s many blurry shots, and shots of Yu-chan looking sleepy. Don’t get me wrong, some were very artistic and I think would work great as new stylish headshots for her ;P

As you can see, the simple hardcover is blue with the title. The book comes in a second cover of Yu-chan in the cover and all the credits. Because of that second cover, I recommend just opening the book on one side to keep the plastic on. Then again… that’s a personal preference of mine.

I’m a little bummed that there’s no text at all (not that I can read much of it), but I just always kinda enjoy “reading” of some of the happenings during the photoshoot.

I also miss Yu-chan’s smile. LOL Because of the themes, there’s no glowing. Then, of course, I remember that Yu-chan is not an early-twenties youth who’s supposed to cheer me up. The whole thing then reminds me of how much time (and money) I’m investing in this fandom.

Somebody tell Yu-chan about her biggest fan? xD

You can get the book at YesAsia, but for people that don’t qualify for their Free Shipping… I recommend HMV Japan. The HMV price + the EMS shipping is pretty much the price tag on YesAsia. And I LOVE HMV Japan, they’re so professional and prompt~ it’s hard not to be glad to pay for their service.
