Spirit Awards 2010 Predictions

March 5, 2010 — 1 Comment

I’m not sure i-sat will be broadcasting the Indie Spirits Live this year, as the schedule says it will air at 11pm, so I literally have no idea. Actually, I think they might be live and they just begin really REALLY late as the email they just sent me says that:

8pm Pacific Time/ 11pm Eastern Time
Hosted by Eddie Izzard

So there you go…

Anyway, I dunno where you can watch the show, but you can check the Live Arrival over at the Spirit Awards Ustream TV Channel. You can even check out the music they will be using~

Here comes the predictions~

BEST FEATURE
Precious

Is there any doubt? Precious is the most successful indie this year. Though I voted for (500) Days of Summer, so obviously I would love it to win instead.

BEST DIRECTOR
Lee Daniels, “Precious”

Same here.

BEST FIRST FEATURE
Crazy Heart

I think Crazy Heart has the best chances, with Jeff Bridges and all, though I voted for A Single Man.

BEST SCREENPLAY
The Messenger

The only one with outside recognition. Though… hello?
(500) Days of Summer xD

BEST FIRST SCREENPLAY
Precious

Right?

BEST FEMALE LEAD
Gabby Sidibe – Precious

This seems right too? Though I wouldn’t mind Nisreen Faour for Amreeka

BEST MALE LEAD
Jeff Bridges – Crazy Heart

This seems like 100% bet, right? Though I voted Joseph Gordon Levitt xD

BEST SUPPORTING FEMALE
Monique – Precious

Is there ANY doubt?

BEST SUPPORTING MALE
Woody Harrelson – The Messenger

This is by far the most intriguing category without Christoph Waltz in. LOL I voted for Harrelson on The Messenger, but I wouldn’t be surprise to see Christopher Plummer winning…

BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY
Sin Nombre

Though I voted for Treeless Mountain. Have you see Treeless Mountain??? I would be thrill if it wins anything tonight. Those little girls will break your heart.

BEST DOCUMENTARY
Anvil!

I thought Anvil! was so engaging, though Food Inc. was educational~

BEST FOREIGN FILM
A Prophet – France

Oh gawd, such a great category! I was divided between A Prophet and Mother, but ultimately chose A Prophet because it was such an engaging film. I wouldn’t mind Mother winning because I have an enormous Asian bias… or I’ve been having one for the past 2 years of my life.
