SAG 2010 Predictions

January 22, 2010 — 1 Comment

Tomorrow’s the SAG Awards, so these are my predictions… with some explanations. I think some of my winning picks are a bit not logical, and this is why I’m explaining xD

Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture
Nine

Why? Star-studded, mainly. Actors could vote in favor of big names of Sophia Loren and Daniel Day-Lewis, etc, etc. Though Inglourious Basterds has Brad Pitt, but that’s only him… so my runner-up will be:

Precious. If Hurt Locker has swept Film and Director (almost), Precious could very well get Cast.

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role
Jeff Bridges, “Crazy Heart”

Safe bet here. Bridges is known enough, and he’s got a solid performance and has basically won everything. Who could get in his way? George Clooney for Up in the Air – Why? Because he’s just George Clooney. Does he need anything else? xD

A personal disappointment would be Morgan Freeman for Invictus, mainly because the film was weak… and the performance was weak. Why he could win? Mushy story, historical figure, and it’s Morgan Freeman! LOL

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role
Meryl Streep, “Julie & Julia”

The SAG loves Meryl. I mean, she’s Meryl! All actors admire her one way or the other. It’s like an actor initiation xD Plus, she’s also been battling it out against Mulligan as of lately… and to be honest, Mulligan doesn’t have a chance in this one I think (sadly).

Who could get in the way of Meryl? Sandra Bullock for The Blind Side. Why? Only actress with a movie to ever make loads of $$ just for headlining it. Plus, Sandra is also popular…

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role
Stanley Tucci, “The Lovely Bones”

You just gasped, didn’t you? A year ago, Tucci was the front-runner in this category, but due to poor critical or box office appeal, he’s been ditched in favor of Christoph Waltz for Inglourious Basterds. However, since I have been surprised by SAG winnings before, especially in categories where Americans win over European actors.

Christoph Waltz has been edging everyone on this one though. xD

Let’s hope I’m wrong about these SAG American surprises…

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role
Mo’Nique, “Precious”

This one should be a no brainer, right? I mean, Mo’nique has swept the awards in her category. She does have a strong performance and to top it all off, she’s an American actor.

I really don’t know who could rain on Mo’nique’s parade. xD

Outstanding Stunt Ensemble:
Star Trek

This is just a wild guess. I got nothing about who was in what… Star Trek was a popular film critically and as a blockbuster. It was just really exciting to watch, and it would totally deserve it, right?
