This does not compute.
Yu Aoi as a bride? LOL
Actually, film looks interesting (even without subs), though… random question~
Is Ryo Kase Koharu’s (Yu Aoi) friend or husband-to-be? I couldn’t make it out on the scene. And I know Nippon Cinema says it’s her friend, but their scene seemed too close to be just friends. Over-reading! You can tell I’m starving for a new film.

Also, aoinohoho has a video of the Otouto press conference.
My, my
I’m eager to watch this. Yamada is a good director. In recent years, he’s the one who made critically acclaimed movies that were also really popular. And Yuu Aoi with Ryou Kase, that’s a pair of aces !!!
I know what you mean!
Yu and Ryo are on-screen heaven! xD
I hope Otouto does very well at the box office and wins lots of awards. Then maybe Yu will decide to return to acting full time. I wish she had Ryo Kase’s desire to make films. Have you seen his filmography on IMDB? He’s probably the hardest working actor in Japan!
I have… it also helps that he’s lived in Washington and he speaks English.
Gosh… talented, speaks English and is cute. LOL
Can’t believe he’s in his 30s.
It would be awesome if it wins major awards, so it gets pushed as Japan’s Oscar entry 2011 LOL – though I dunno how the Japanese Academy Awards process goes. January is a tricky date, it seems.
question, should I watch any other movie before watching this? Like Kon Ichikawa’s Otouto? Or Yamada’s Our Mother? Just wondering…
Yamada’s Otouto may be a remake of Kon Ichikawa’s 1960 version…can’t really tell, but I don’t think so. As for “Our Mother”, I don’t think you have to watch that beforehand. They’re two unrelated stories in different time periods.
What I would do if I were you is watch The Twilight Samurai, be amazed, and get even more psyched to watch Otouto since both films are by the same director!
duly noted!
Our Mother was a nice sensitive movie, now the Samurai trilogy (Twilight Samurai, The hidden blade and Love and honor) is a must-watch with the first story Tasogare Seibei (the twilight samurai) one of the best movies from Japan in the 2000s. :)
