  • Yu Aoi NHK’s Ryomaden Dates

I’m not sure on how many episodes she’s supposed to show up — considering only ONE EPISODE seems like such a waste — so my money is on a 3 or 4-episode character arc… Hopefully longer. If you missed the photos of how Yu’s character looks like — well, don’t miss them here.

  • Emmy Nominations 2010

Emmys are always an afterthought here, mainly because we don’t have much time to keep up with all series, so we’re kind of at a loss when it comes to television awards. But alas, that doesn’t stop new nominations coming in~~~

The miniseries The Pacific leads nominations with 24, but if we’re talking about series… Well, Glee is leading that one list with 19 nominations – 2 nominations ahead of Mad Men (17), 4 ahead of 30 Rock (15), and 5 ahead of Modern Family (14). For the summary list check this PDF out from Emmys.tv

    Other series nominated… Lost (12), The Good Wife (9), Nurse Jackie (8), Dexter (7) and House M.D (3) ~

    Among the many nominations~

  • Guilty Pleasure Songs

Extra! Extra! According to this Yahoo Music News~

Lady Gaga sings You Belong With Me at the top of her lungs. Which I think it’s super funny… and admittedly, kinda cute… in a “Wow, I didn’t expect this” kind of way.

So the women at AfterEllen decided to tell the whole wide world what were their guilty pleasure songs… or sometimes, not really such guilty, but the songs they always sang at the top of their lungs. First, let me say WHAT?

I understand Hanson’s Mmmbop 1997 being your guilty pleasure, considering I can’t really listen to Middle of Nowhere the same way after so many years. It’s the high-pitched voices, but the songs were actually kind of good. I mean, have you seen the Hanson guys lately? They’re actually pretty good.

  • It’s AfterElton’s Ladies’ Choice 2010!

Now it’s your time to choose your main gay, girls~

Because girls aren’t really allowed to vote in AfterElton’s Hot 100, you know? So the people at AE is letting you fix your list of 10 Out People… They need to be out, so no, Julz… You can’t vote for Jae~ LOL

If you need help with Out names, you can check last year’s winners of Ladies’ Choice, and this years Top10 Out Men. Voting ends on July 14th — that’s like a week from now. So get voting!

    And if I may add,

  • Javier Bardem for Glee

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Javier Bardem will be a guest on Glee — because he’s on Eat Pray Love, which was directed by Glee creator Ryan Murphy.

Academy Award winner Javier Bardem is expected to appear this coming season as a rock star who befriends Artie.

And he’s got us all beat~

became an unabashed Gleek after watching the entire first season in one week. “We’re going to do some heavy metal — Spanish heavy metal, which is the worst.”

It sounds like a storyline out of Amy’s fanfiction ideas. I’d better finish my episode, and send it ASAP to Murphy so he can make it happen. LOL

  • Lee Hyori for The Haha MC Mong Show

    Someone sub this ASAP!

    Found a subbed version xD

Hyori never fails to make me laugh, despite the lacking elements in her albums or performances [idol, not an artist], I find it very compelling to just watch her… especially on variety programs. I mean, sure… she’s hot, and in that case photos would do, but her thing are variety programs. She just shines in those. Like in here~

The old people part was hilarious.

  • Camouflage – Aoi Yu x Yottsu no Uso – Chapter 3

Woah, long time no see, eh?

Let’s see if I remember how to do this. First, because the Yu Aoi posts always get the most hits, I pimp the RSS subscriptions. There’s no better way to keep updated than by subscribing. So~ here you go, Google and Yahoo.

Also, don’t forget the poll on the side (if there’s one), and support the site by buying stuff – not necesarilly what I suggest… but you can click those Amazon, YesAsia and/or HMV HK banners, and buy whatever you want. Also, I’m not allowed to say this but… ad my clicks, if you know what I mean. ;P

Here we are, 2 years after the broadcast of Yu Aoi’s WOWOW drama Camouflage — also known as Yu Aoi x 4 Lies. If you are interested to know, Viikii allowed Saltine to post softsubs for it. Though the last episode (ep12) is the only one missing… it’s a HUGE improvement. So thank you Saltine.

    Okay, moving on!

Chapter 3 — aka. ep7 through ep9 — is titled AKABANE San Shimai or The 3 Akabane Sisters, directed by director Nobuhiro Yamashita (Linda Linda Linda). The concept of this chapter is to tell the story of 3 sisters — Older and reliable Matsuko aka. Macchan aka. Matsu-nei (Shoko Ikezu), Takeko aka. Take-nei (Yoshimi Nozaki) , and free-spirited Umeko (Yu Aoi), who don’t always get along that well, but always makeup by the end, in the style of old comedy shows that last for several years. The first episode is actually the first ficticious episode of the show titled “Sayonara Okada Sensei” which has the sisters returning from the funeral of their old 6th grade teacher… (more…)

  • Tokyo Jihen to Compose Theme for Satoshi Miki Drama

    YES!

Japanese Rock/Jazz Fusion Tokyo Jihen (Tokyo Incidents… but Jihen sounds so much cooler, right?) will be in charge of the theme song on Satoshi Miki’s upcoming drama starring Joe Odagiri and Chiaki Kuriyama. It seems like they were chosen because leader Shiina Ringo is popular among staff member — I’m already liking the staff members.

The song will be called Tengoku he Youkoso (Welcome to Heaven), which will be available for mobile music download on July 21st, and regular download a week later on July 28th – with no physical release.

Even more excited about watching this. xD

  • Ghostwriter on DVD

    Well, color me surprise~

Years ago when Discovery Kids was for kids, and it was on Channel 84 or something, there was a show called Ghostwriter, which told the story of a bunch of kids — I thought they were old kids back then LOL — that solved mysteries with the help of some type of ghost that could only communicate through writing.

Funny thing is, I saw it dubbed in Spanish… so watching it in English was a different experience.

As you can see, the first season has just been released on DVD. So why hasn’t The Adventures of Shirley Holmes been released yet? I demand it!

I have just gone through the first chapter, titled Ghost Story, which in itself contains like 5 episodes of nearly 30min. It was a bizarre experience… remembering what it was about, but then listening to the English. For once, I never knew Alex and Gabby (#1, who was a better Gabby anyway) talked Spanish… I mean, Spanglish at home. Never crossed my mind, because to me… they always spoke Spanish. LOL

While watching it, I also felt this would be a great series to revamp. Even though I am so very against remaking things, I think Ghostwriter would be pretty awesome in a new version… with slightly less 90’s Ghostwriter graphics, and much more natural dialog. Plus, nothing wrong with remaking educational programs, right? But then again, this is not a money-maker, so people aren’t interested in a revamp.

This show hasn’t age as well as Shirley Holmes has, but granted… Shirley is like 5 years ahead of Ghostwriter, and has a different budget, and it isn’t supposed to be educational.

  • To Watch Until They’re 35 – Ryan Gosling

And it’s time to finally complete the list of the 20 to Watch Between 25-30 Until They’re 35! And somehow I feel like this is a total lackluster surprise, since you know… I love Gosling.

Gosling: You got me, Amy~~~ *hands up in the air* LOL

Born in London, Ontario, Canada on November 12th 1980, this 29-year-old actor is best known for playing Noah on the Nicholas Sparks’ tear-jerker romance movie The Notebook. He was also nominated for an Oscar for starring as Dan Dunne on the film Half Nelson.

Gosling began his career on the small screen, guest-starring on youth-oriented Canadian television programs such as Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Ready or Not, Goosebumps, and The Adventures of Shirley Holmes. Two years later, he was starring on his very own show as Hercules on Young Hercules.

In 2000, he participated on Remember the Titans starring Denzel Washington, but he soon moved to starring roles with The Believer, which earned him his first nomination at the Indie Spirit Awards, a Best Foreign Actor by the Russian Film Critics Guild, and a Most Promising Performer by the Chicago Film Critics. The following year, Gosling also co-starred with Michael Pitt and Ben Chaplin on Sandra Bullock’s Murder by Numbers. Incidentally, the making of the film ignited a romance with Bullock… which is, you know – pretty Hollywood.

In 2003, Ryan starred as Leland on The United States of Leland alongside Don Cheadle, Lena Olin, Kevin Spacey, fellow the 20 to Watch Michelle Williams, and fellow who didn’t make it Jena Malone. It was just a short time before he burst into the pop culture scene as Noah on The Notebook with then-real-life girlfriend, Rachel McAdams.

Instead of going the commercial route, Gosling kept away from romantic leads, and participated on Stay by Marc Foster, who had previously directed Monster’s Ball (which won Halle Berry her Oscar), and Finding Neverland (which earned Johnny Depp his 2nd Oscar nod). Stay also starred Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts. In 2006, Gosling starred on the indie film Half Nelson, for which he won Best Male Lead at the Indie Spirits Award, and a Male Breakthrough Performance by the National Board of Review, and earned him his first Oscar and Screen Actors Guild nominations, plus a bunch of other critics and film fest awards.

A year later, in 2007, Gosling share the big screen with Sir Anthony Hopkins on Fracture, and participated on the indie Lars and the Real Girl alongside Emily Mortimer, and Patricia Clarkson. The role earned Gosling his first Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy/Musical, as well as a 2nd nomination for Best Actor at the Screen Actors Guild. After that, Gosling took a break from acting to release music with the band Dead Man’s Bones. The band released two singles — with their respective music videos — a self-titled debut album, and toured North America.

Earlier in the year, Gosling released Blue Valentine starring alongside Michelle Williams, fresh off Sundance buzz with very positive early reviews.

Coming up? Well, Blue Valentine still needs to open wider or be released on DVD. There’s also All Good Things with Kirsten Dunst, Kristen Wiig, and Frank Langella, as well as that Glenn Ficarra (I Love You Philip Morris) film with Steve Carrell, Marisa Tomei, Emma Stone, Julianne Moore, and Kevin Bacon.

Yes, we can’t wait to see him making breakfast while singing Springsteen’s I’m on Fire… without his shirt. Also, I am dying to see Blue Valentine. Yes, talent is so hot~
