Cycling!

I have been with the urge to ride a bike for a while now, I just don’t because Lima sucks. It’s stressful, will someone run you over? Will someone try to mug you? The black smoke coming out of the cars and public transport. The noise…

Drivers are irresponsible, and people on the street suck too. It’s just the way it is.

But one can dream. xD

I recently saw an article on a National Geographic magazine, with this photo~

Saying Portland, Oregon is the best city in America to ride bikes. It has over 250Km. of biking paths. And there’s also the Bike Commuter Act passed about a year ago that lets companies give $20USD extra to their people for bike expenses. Add to that, people actually stop their cars for them…

sighs.

I’ve had a dream that had to do with it. xD
I want to open a design studio (I’ve seen a place, super cool LOL) and I had imagined in my mind that we would give our clients x% off if they come to our offices riding a bike. I would go every day with my bike in my sweet office loft.

But I need better environment design. I need signals, and I need someone that will assure me that I will be save while on my bike. Can’t have that with over 400 road accidents in the year. Not until we start being civilized.

More Yu

Yu Aoi - July09 More InterviewOver at the Yu Aoi LJ Comm, there are brand new scans with an interview title “All About Yu Aoi” [insert Lily Chou Chou reference in here]. Scans are okay-ish size for photos… but knida makes it difficult to read or “try to read” as I call it. Plus, they have watermarks that make it even more difficult for me to try to get kanji xD

Sucks to be me.

Anyway, I did manage to get some of the titles and sub headings to get myself an idea of what’s going on here.

It goes something like this…

Likes, dislikes and the Actual Me

All About Yu Aoi

It has to do something with her success as an actress, and… her happy face (???) but yet precocious nature? xD – What’s the deal?  “Now, we all know “All About Yu Aoi””

Pun intended. LOL

Then, I think… they talk a bit about her views on this beautiful world (?), how awesome it is to work with Kyoko Koizumi (referring to the Gakuya play), how awesome (or how it makes her happy?) to have Scone in the mornings. As well as… opinions on Love? (Koi, Ai… Suki and Aisuru) – Ecological issues? ~~~ ?

Something to do with movies and journies and searching? And wait, wait… funny part.

とにかく食べることが大好き　（笑）。
Tonikaku taberu koto ga daisuki (wara?).
I generally love to eat (laughs).

LOL. I can get that.

ANYWAY. Any proper translation would be welcomed! ^^

What is Gutai? Gutai without being Gutai~

Ku:Nel - Yu AoiA couple of days ago, I posted a random post as a quickie. I had found a photo (pictured on the right) that I hadn’t seen before, and that led me to one of the most interesting quasi-pseudo-intellectual post on any Japanese idol I had ever read.

Some might differ… Yu, an idol? Give or take~~~

I hope you do find that post as interesting as I did.

Here’s an excerpt:

“If you follow Yu Aoi through Japanese popular culture, you find that, over and over again, she’s cast as an advanced, soft being, a quirky, childlike, expressive, kind-hearted fairy, modestly unaware of her own beauty and unwilling to use it in power games.

…”

Now, if you haven’t found that post in your quest for more Yu Aoi, and are not interested by that statement. What’s wrong with you?? Ha!

Really, do give it a read.

What’s fascinating about it is the reference to Gutai, which got me asking what Gutai is and what it’s all about. Sure, that Wiki article just simplifies it all… so if you want to get into it, head over here to read The Gutai Manifesto.

Please, scanlate Osen!!

Over this past weekend, I decided to look for the Osen manga again… I had tried times before, but ended up in nothing. However, this past weekend… THIS PAST WEEKEND! I found a group that are scanlating Osen!

Osen is a 12 volume (and ongoing) manga series, which gave way to Yu Aoi’s Osen NTV adaptation this year. And I liked the series, so I wanted to read the manga… Kotonoha has only uploaded the first two chapters of the first volume, but I am already liking it. MangaOsen is different to JDramaOsen… at first I had an issue with how skanky MangaOsen looked on the cover, but she already has me after the 2nd chapter xD

So I am hoping they continue releasing scanlations for this one, because I wanna continue reading.

Ueno on Acting, LF, Love + Marriage

I was reading a post over at the boards, and found that Yuuki provided a link to an English-translated  Juri Ueno interview for the latest issue of Nikkei Entertainment Magazine. Juri can be so charismatic~~ LOL’ but apparently it only works on girls. Let’s face it, girls~~~ Boys or most of boys have RUBBISH taste in women… case and point all those guy magazines, such as FHM. Here’s the chart~

It’s a really insightful interview in which she discusses her latest film (GuGu), her acting in Nodame, Last Friends~ Here are some quotes;

“Rather than films, I grew up watching variety shows most of the time (laughs). Refining or adorning myself, I still don’t have much interest in that area. But in this era, the scope of what being ‘an actress’ is have widened greatly haven’t they? In the olden days, being an actress means you have to be beautiful and ladylike else it won’t be possible. Now, there are even roles like Nodame, and because of that, even someone like me is able to be one (laughs).

Being married probably won’t effect my focus towards work but at the moment the image of being alone is stronger. […]

Some Teasin’ from Hayato Ichihara

So… Hayato Ichihara also has a Photobook of his own. It came out in 2006 and it features photos by Yoshiaki Sugiyama of a 19-year-old Hayato… there’s even an image reminding us of his debut of All About Lily Chou Chou (in which he shared the screen with Yu Aoi)~~

The book features 90+ pages of Hayato being silly, included rabbit costume photos (like the one on the cover), making faces with an oba-chan, and even a naked butt…. LOL’

But don’t worry, it’s not only fun and games~~ there’s also some artistic shots of Hayato wearing his traditional Japanese clothing, some with a tux, and some very cool black and white shots. And I will be posting a teasing image… no, it’s not the butt. It’s a really nice shot of Hayato in Japanese outfit running up a stony set of stairs~~~

Travel Sand Teaser

I know I said I wasn’t gonna post any proper scans of the book, but since I wanted to make a new wallpaper with one of my fave photos in the book, I thought it would be good to tease all of you. xD I want that beanie, does any of you know where to get one?? I told my mom that’s her knitting style, but she claims she doesn’t have any idea how to knit a beanie, she said she can maybe make a scarf like that and wrap it around. LOL

Aoi Yu - Travel Sand scan

Photo is not complete because I had to crop the shadow that appears from scanning too close to the spine of it. It is a pretty decent sized scan… the wallpaper is 1680×1050, but I’ve also got a fullscreen one sized 1280×1024, in case you want one… though I haven’t posted it. Original scan filesize is 5Mb. xD

Last Friends – Prologue – 001

Apparently there’s a manga based on Fuji TV’s Last Friends, it’s set before the show… so I suggest watching the show before this. Anyway, ^Yuuki made some lovely scans (but I won’t post those because they are in Japanese), and suketeru (who also makes the subs for the show uploads, DOMO!) made a translation for it. I took the liberty to make some nice text inclusion, and some changes in phrasing. I think it looks pretty good, almost like it’s real. Take a look yourself! Continue Reading…
