tokyo-kazoku-dec-screening

An advanced screening of Yoji Yamada’s Tokyo Kazoku [1] was held prepping for its imminent release on January 19th.

Time flies by. It seems like yesterday when they finally announced they were shooting the movie.

In the movie front… no signs of Vampire on DVD.

Yu Aoi is a Taiwan Girl!

yu aoi kaiten teburu mutsukashii taiwan de nv hai

Look what I found! It turns out that Yu’s photobook Kaiten TEBURU ha Mutsukashii, which had her followed by photographer Ivy Chen in Taiwan doing their Taiwan Cafe rounds, will be translated to traditional Chinese in a new release simply titled Taiwan’s Girl (台灣的女孩), to be out on December 27th this year. I doubt this will show up on any other online websites~

osaka radio 6 colors yu aoi

You know, I read that post about Japan — despite its technologically-advanced image — not being a tech nation at all [1][2], so when finding this about a radio drama took me back in time back to when my mom told me they used to watch radio telenovelas (back then known as radionovelas, of course). Having Yu working on one is so bizarre… not to mention troublesome as a fan xD

Yu Aoi for Zipang Punk

October 23, 2012 — 1 Comment

goemon rock 3 zipang punk

I ran into this story~ though I can’t be exactly sure about it, you know… with my Japanese sucking and all. But it seems like Yu-chan’s going to be on another play- called Zipang Punk Goemon ROKKU III (so it seems like it might be… a musical? LOL) A rock musical on the life of legend hero Goemon or something.

You can check the story on Geinou News Lounge, which is the source with the most text. Plus photos. I will be adding the show’s dates on the Yu Aoi calendar placed down down below, which had seemed rather empty lately.

If anyone else has more information on it, don’t be shy and share it in the comments :)

Tickets for the Tokyo shows, which begin running on December 19th, run for 12,500 Yen, 10,500 Yen, and 7,500 Yen. While the Osaka shows which begin running on February 6th, run for 13,500 Yen, 10,500 Yen, and 7,500 Yen. Tickets for the Tokyo show will begin their sale on October 28th, and the Osaka shows will begin selling on November 25th.

All the info is on their website.

I wanted to use “Yu Aoi Double Face-ing for TBS/WOWOW Infernal Affairs Jdrama” but I thought it was a little extra too long with the information.

So I was checking IMDb, and there was a new credit I didn’t know about, and since I’m not subscribed to anyone’s feed on Japanese entertainment news, and my sources haven’t been as active as they used to, I had no idea what it was about.

The show titled Double Face both Teruyuki Kagawa and Hidetoshi Nishijima will be airing both in TBS and WOWOW — one subtitled Sennyu Sousa Hen (Undercover Investigation, TBS) and the other Gisou Keisatsu Hen (Police Disguise, WOWOW) — with Nishijima starring on the TBS version while Kagawa on WOWOW’s. The gig is that it is inspired by Hong Kong’s Infernal Affairs, and will have you watching both as they are the same story but from different perspectives.

So maybe if you’ve seen the movie, it won’t be all that interesting — but from the broadcasting POV, it’s an interesting project. I don’t think it’s been done before, has it?

Yu-chan will play a role in the WOWOW version, while Wakui Emi and Atsushi Ito will have roles in both versions, and Kadono Takuzo will play a role in the TBS version.

I wonder if anyone is planning to fansub…

Soooooo, story of my life. The Shunji Iwai Vampire interview was supposed to begin at 9pm, which means I decided to stay up all the way into 7am my timezone to catch the interview… the problem was I fell asleep well into the 30min. mark with Iwai-san arriving  just a few minutes later.

So I missed the whole thing. LOL

I generally don’t talk about celebrities’ personal lives — oh, who am I kidding? I love gossip. I used to spend hours reading gossip blogs until I realized how much time I wasted. LOL

It started over the course of these few days when Yu Aoi searches spiked — once again — so I went on my customary search when that happens. And voila~

I don’t think I’ve ever stuck to a specific individual fandom long enough to actually see this kind of thing happen before, so since this is a first of a confirmed relationship from Yu-chan [blog] [1] [screencap], I guess I gotta sorta document it for my future Wiki update [1]. LOL

Yu-chan is in a relationship with actor Suzuki Kosuke. Omedetou! Throw the confetti!

Sorry for the really bad graphic. But I didn’t wanna put one picture next tot he other coz then I would mistake it for a collaboration graphic. xD

After a couple of strongly-rumored-but-ultimately-never-bluntly-confirmed guys, Yu-chan and Suzuki-san have both announced it on their blogs. Nah-huh, can’t get more confirmation than that one. It beats the sneaking around, huh? Good for her.

Li Yuchun, you’re doing a world tour? I suspect you’re not including me… but, oh well. Your promo poster is flawless. I mean, nothing out of the design-ordinary, but you look like pure gloss.

You know when BiBi had her make-over [1], I was flabbergasted? I don’t think it ever happened between you and me. I’ve been more interested in your film career than music, to be honest. You weren’t bad in Bodyguards and Assassins, and you definitely had your scenes in The Flying Swords of Dragon Gate. xD

The Rurouni Kenshin poster is out.

I don’t know many Yu Aoi fans who are excited for it, but I know Rurouni Kenshin fans are pumped. I know a few.

Yu Aoi has bangs… I don’t think I’ve seen Yu-chan with bangs since her early acting days. She looks mad weird, and the photoshop makes it look like she’s carrying that kid. No? Maybe it’s just me? xD

Last Jdrama season, I gave W no Higeki a watch. I don’t think I mentioned it on my review, but Emi Takei gave me a strong Yu Aoi vibe in that show. Since then, Takei has popped up in a LOT of projects I’ve been reading about. So much, I only remember saying “ohhhh, she’s in it too?” xD

I think she’s lacking a little bit of the Yu-chan charisma, but she’s okay.

I’ve been re-kindling myself with fandom, so… I guess you’ll see when I post about it when it gets here.

Or at least, that’s what I understood scanning through the articles in Japanese (with Google Translate, LOL).

Tokyo Kazoku (Tokyo Family) was supposed to start shooting in early April last year, but due to the earthquake, it was postpone — postpone long enough, until now. Apparently (if I read right), Tokyo Kazoku began shooting on May 31st. There was a press conference that day, and the cast was there~ including Satoshi Tsumabuki and Yu-chan.

As you may (or not) know, Tokyo Kazoku will be a re-telling of the 1953 classic Tokyo Story (東京物語) by Yazujiro Ozu. Apparently, Yu-chan will be taking on the role played by Setsuko Hara. But… I really can’t tell you more, because I’m ashamed to admit I haven’t watched Tokyo Story, even though every cinephile has.

But if Setsuko Hara-san’s character was the same as Satoshi Tsumabuki’s girlfriend [1], then you probably already knew that. If it wasn’t… then it’s all news to us. xD

In the meantime… Yu looks grown-up. I feel like I haven’t seen her in so long, even though she was in that episode of Shokuzai in January. Of course, Tokyo Kazuko will be released on January 2013.

Here’s a video of the event.
