• Bad Ass Fruity o-Mochi

    xD

It was seriously good, and pretty.

it was so effing tasty… the green one had a Guanabana (Soursop) filling, which was my fave. Then there was the chocolate one, and the Lucuma one~~~ The rest, I think, had a sweetened bean paste… which is the most common. We also had a lot of Japanese food, which was popular because we don’t normally get makis, sushi and sashimi on New Year. There was also pancetta with crispy skin (like REALLY crispy, really so effing good). We had sticky rice, spicy jellyfish, sweet potato noodle salad, and egg tarts xD

Food is so good, why would anyone not eat?

  • Catherine on DVD?

    Kinda?

*giggles* sorry, that cover makes me laugh.

It looks like Francophone-DVD distributor Imavision has released the first season. It seems like it’s 10 discs, but I can find no details… I mean, it looks like the first season, but it says the first part, which could be more than the first season… explaining the 10 discs and the expensive price tag.

Also, no info on subtitles or captioning.

This can be purchase through the CBC Shop Online for $59.99 CND (I suppose), at Imavision.com for $69.95 CND, and over at Archambault.ca for $69.99 CND — they do free shipping (international, I dunno) with orders over $39.

They’re a bit pricey. I wonder if I should get someone to get them for me. I expect all DVD material to at least be captioned in its original language… no info here. If anyone does, share!

  • Best Songs of 2000-2009 – Part 3/5

We are still going backwards with this listing of songs…

I think 2006 and 2007 marked my shift of Asian focus in music. It’s weird, I don’t think it’s about lyrics as I most often than not don’t search for lyric translations. I have just found Asian music to be more “musically” interesting than their Western counterparts.

I once had a throughout conversation with a friend online who lives in Morocco, and is a huge fan of Asian entertainment, and has lost all notion of Western entertainment. I asked him why his interests shifted, and he told me it was because there was a point in his life where everything looked and sounded the same to him.

Others have commented on the topic with regards of idols’ image and the degradation of the business.

With the turn of the new decade, we will see how big the Asian entertainment industry gets. Many will be watching… I will keep an eye on this.

  • Love Love Love, Oh Yeah!

You know, if anyone artist deserves to make me broke, it’s Wang Lee Hom and his freaking talent. Not only is he an astounding singer, and a kick ass composer… and producer. He also plays 14 instruments, and freaking speaks Mandarin, Cantonese, English, Japanese and French.

To make it funny, he’s also beaten Angelina Jolie, since he has 10 adopted children from Laos.

He’s an amazing live performer, and I would kill (not literally) to see him in a concert.

  • Japanese Films and Other Asian Film Short Takes

This isn’t a regular Award Season post.

But it’s a lot of postings… I should post one by one, but I am lazy… even if it increases posts number which have decreased a bit this month.

    First with the Most Anticipated~~~

Yu gets a mention for Otouto which is about to open in a few days~~~

Then we go to some award nominations~~~

Dear Doctor gets Best Picture and Best Director for Miwa Nishikawa, as well as awards for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress (Kimiko Yo) at the Nikkan. Mother got some love for Foreign Film, and Masaki Okada earned the New Artist for A Pierrot (what? LOL)

The Hochi awards the film with a Best Director as well, a Best Supporting Actor for Eita, and a Supporting Actress for Kaoru Yachigusa. Michael Jackson got a Special Award, and some more love for Ken Watanabe, Clint Eastwood and Masaki Okada who also won Best New Artist for Honokaa Boy.

Seems like the Japan Academy Award will be fought over The Sun Doesn’t Set, and Dear Doctor~~~

And to close this post, a Top Best Asian Films of the Decade.
    Will work on mine later~~~

  • Memories of a Decade in Films

    at Cinencuentro again!

This time around pointing out some experiences while watching those films, which doesn’t necessarily reflect what I consider the best… keyword, necessary.

    Sorry, only in Spanish.

    check it out here.

  • Mininova is Gone?

    When did that happened?

Well, at least you can still upload your OWN original content to share, if you want. I wish more singers, groups, musicians, filmmakers would use the platform of torrents to distribute their work. After all, all you need is a private tracker to allow a few people… in case you want to charge some for it.
