  • Teasing Teaser of Tokyo Kazoku

Very Japanese Trailer of you, Tokyo Kazoku xD

    Though, no sign of Yu-chan.

I mean, it makes sense it’s only like 10 seconds of actual footage xD the film began shooting just short of two months ago. We still got a long wait ahead of us… Having said that, I think my Japanese drama language will work out for me with this one, so I just have to wait for a DVD and not actual subtitles xD

Has anyone noticed that there’s so many un-subbed Japanese movies as of lately? Like, every time there’s a movie worth-watching~ SORRY, NO SUBS! And since the dismissal of upload sites, there’s been a lot of non-fansub activity.

Are all you fansubbers hiding from me???

  • Why Are People So Angry?

I’m not even talking about online trolls, it’s regular people you run into your daily life. Someone does something stupid, and as a response this other person spits at this other person. Why?

You’re online answering a question, that you might get or not exactly right, and there’s someone out there who replies back calling you names instead of just stating the right answer.

People say something and there’s people making death threats.

    Why are people so angry?

Someone needs a little Piñata therapy. ;P

  • BiBi for The Silent War with Infernal Affairs Theme Song

If you follow Tony Leung’s career… or the Chinese movie scene in general, you’d know there’s a movie coming up called The Silent War (聽風者 or 听风者) — actually, it has just come out — featuring Leung alongside Zhou Xun and Mavis Fan (these two are in everything together??) xD.

Anyway, BiBi was at the movie’s premiere~

And she sang the theme of Infernal Affairs [MV] in Mandarin ‘coz Tony is there. xD

She did good :) She’s been sounding good lately despite audio problems generally found in CCTV broadcasts. Seriously, it’s like… no matter how good a singer you are, all CCTV performances sound like crap. Not even Leehom or Faye Wong can escape.

Also, Mavis is the only one truly enjoying the performance. xD

And Tony Leung’s left side looks super old compared to his right side.

  • The amazingness that is going to be Cloud Atlas~

    Just saying.

There is an 80% chance that I’m gonna love this movie even if everyone else hates it, because Doona Bae cries in the movie. And whenever she cries, I cry coz she’s amazing like that [1].

If I was pretty pump before, I’m super eager to watch this as soon as possible in the best quality possible. There are big BIG chances that I will buy this in Blu-ray. And I haven’t bought an “American” product in quite a while. Remember when Natalie Portman was attached to this?

  • The Most Beautiful Movies Ever Made

Flavorwire.com made a video titled 135 Shots That Will Restore Your Faith in Cinema, after asking their readers what were “the most beautiful movies ever made.” The result is okay, I guess. I still don’t think that I’m as moved by Terrence Malick films as others are…

There was also some Zhang Yimou and Wong Kar-wai added in there, alongside Darren Aronofsky’s The Fountain — which was one of my picks for most iconic movie images. xD

In any case, there was some Noboru Shinoda (and therefore, Shunji Iwai) missing. The Hana & Alice ballet scene [1], just as Love Letter, as well as EVERYTHING on Picnic [1], and every single frame in All About Lily Chou Chou — they’re all perfect. LOL

  • Yu Aoi – Kyou, Konogoro.

Yup. I finally bought Kyou, Konogoro (今日、このごろ。) — roughly translated to Nowadays, Lately. — which I had put off getting for years AND YEARS because… there’s a lot of text. But, damn. I was seriously missing out. There’s not many photos for the book, but there’s TONS of goodies for Yu-chan fans. A LOT of information (movie facts about Yu’s shooting projects, dates, movie suggestions, books she’s given or received, a sorta detailed work around to some of the magazine work she’s done, etc.) — In short, loads of great information for her Wikipedia page. xD

Having to tell you that my Chinese Mandarin classes are paying off for the Japanese reading. Ha! I’m just gonna have to go through all the text bit by bit. Coz seriously, there’s a lot.

  • UMPH, Wagner Moura

I’ve always found Wagner Moura interesting ever since I saw Carandiru. And I finally saw Tropa de Elite (after watching Tropa de Elite 2 a while back xD)!!! And UMPH.

I don’t know what it is, but gosh.

  • Diego Torres’ Recuerda Lyric Translation

Well, this one is an “oldie” alright.

I remember in 1999, I was obsessed with this song — at least, it was one of the many songs I obsessed over in those years. It has nothing to do with the video, even though I probably taped the video a million times over on VHS. Hey! We didn’t have YouTube back then!

The video is… very 90s Latin America. Floating face hovering on top of the movie — because Recuerda was the main theme song for an Argentinean movie called La Venganza. You would notice the use of Mistral in one of those scenes. It’s hilarious to watch the video now.

The song is pretty simple in lyrics. Diego Torres is an apt vocalist and songwriter at times, but nothing too extraordinary, so his songs tend to be easier to translate. He’s got some pretty good singles, though.
