Archives For gender-bending

National Geographic programming usually shifts from interesting to completely eye-roll worthy, but this particular special on these three particular transgender people — simply titled American Transgender — is something I’ve seen a couple of times. I think that when it first aired, I saw it twice in a row. I think it might have been because LGBT media, especially in regards of transgender people, is just really downright depressing, so it was surprising to see something quite uplifting. I mean, Claire, Jim and Eli are damn lucky and it’s so good to see.

How many times do you get to see a wedding? A boy became a woman, and the girl became a man. They met, fell in love, and got married. How perfect is that? Overcoming struggle, and the importance of the support of family. Fiction will never be as good as that.

lgbt-blogathon-2013-full-contracorriente

I wanted to make a personal post for this year’s LGBT Blogathon, so I tried to think about the first time I had ever seen a prominent LGBT character. Growing up in Peru, I don’t think it was ever an issue that crossed my mind- representation, I mean. It was sort of there, hovering in my subconscious, and if I had seen LGBT related content or entertainers, it was something that wasn’t broadly discussed. Now that I think back on it, it was like the Liberace example. He was flamboyant, but people that weren’t “in the know” didn’t know or wanted to accept that Liberace was gay.

BiBi’s doing a concert in Beijing (if she hasn’t done it by now, it’s one of these days), and my pal is attending. And even though I doesn’t feel like I’ve been an ardent BiBi fan for a bit, this rehearsal has made me giddy (and slightly jealous) to be there.

Guess I’m gonna miss the party. xD

In other news, I had NO idea that one of the songs on Time was written by Mavis Fan. The more you know.

Also how cut does BiBi look?

Damn, I know very little about Sammi Cheng — I may have heard a song or two (maybe?) — but damn~ that’s hot. Super hot. Vampire Shane Hot. LOL

Jing Chang just posted a photo of her in MJ attire.

Though it’s hot from the knee up, I gotta say- shoes are kind of distracting.

I dunno what to tag this.

But you know my fave Misster member is Chris xD

Her face is perfect. Look at that jawline and the cheeks.

You gotta love Rie Miyazawa~

and of course, these are my favorite shots of the shoot. I like the detail on the thumb and the watch, and the fact that she’s looking straight at the camera.

BOY STYLE!

Man, BiBi is even looking cool from behind the scenes…

she’s really grown into her image.

Bibi for Men’s Uno

November 12, 2011 — Leave a comment

I guess we got two posts related to Bibi in a row. Let’s just say it’s to celebrate the release of her latest studio album, which I am calling… for the lack of a proper English title, Dark.Select.Clear

I really really LOVE this dirty photoshoot. I dunno about the awkward standing looking at the camera one, but the rest are pretty good. Okay, maybe not the holding the rocks ones either… but the rest exude sex appeal, something I’ve always felt was lacking in the photoshoots or performances she’s been doing…

Which only means one thing. You know that one thing that you notice in someone’s eye. It’s the glitter that suddenly sparks after you do that something. That something’s happened. Bibi’s got that look now.

Bibi for HotSpot

I ran into these kinda high resolution images of Bibi’s turn out over HotSpot, which look positively rocking. I don’t think Bibi’s ever looked as cool promoting an album since I found out about her.

First Elle China, then this… then there’s Men’s Uno, which I should find bigger resolution versions of that photoshoot, because that one is cool too.

This is my favorite shot xD
