  • Some Talk about Social Media

I get it, social media is hot right now.

I’ve seen it working… sometimes, but I’ve also seen it rendered pretty useless.

I know the importance of Social Media for up and coming stars, and I’m all for them having Twitter accounts, Facebook Groups, MySpace accounts, etc. Even if I think creating your OWN Facebook Fan Page is a bit lame. I mean it. It’s called a fan page for something. It’s meant to be handle by fans, not you.

It’s like creating your own Fan Site. I really like it when stars work with their fans on their fansites, but don’t open a website and call it a Fansite. Call it Star Name Official, but not a Fansite. Just saying.

I understand the importance of Social Media and the rise of some people, especially independent artists. I actually think it works great. But I don’t suggest all my clients getting Social Media accounts, especially if these clients are already well established people and pride themselves for their traditional values and their quality.

Off-topic example, Bjork’s a great performer. She’s a visually stunning artists, and she’s well respected. She’s got a very useful website with great info and media material from photos, videos, tour info, etc. Perfect website, but her Twitter is pretty… not… useful. Her MySpace is okay-ish… and her YouTube account should be useful (even if YouTube deletes some of the stuff, WTF right?), but her Twitter is kind of a waste. Probably just because her label requires her to get a Twitter account.

Bjork doesn’t need to talk to us about her project, I think she just wants to live her life normally without people fawning over her whenever they see her, so she doesn’t need to have # of Followers trying to send her tweets about what she had for dinner, or telling her how ROCKING she is.

On the other hand there’s Tom Cruise. He’s got more than 100k Following him, but it’s only the webmaster talking. Again, why? Because Tom Cruise doesn’t really need a Twitter account, but he wants to be hip (he’s management requires him now?) so he gets his official Tom Cruise Twitter account.

So yes, Social Media is okay, but not everyone needs to get into it.

It’s hard when all clients go to you telling you “I need to get into Facebook/Twitter” and when you ask, “Sure, what do you plan to make with it?” They only tell you “I don’t care. I just need to get into it.” Please, don’t make me waste my time. If you’re going to do this, you’d better do it right. You hire a Social Media team, and you get them to work it. I ain’t gonna be handling those for free.

I have already talked about this whole Social Media with Julz when she went to Japan, and I told her how I would use a Twitter account, but I don’t feel like I need an account now. Many of my friends do, but most of them just have it laying around there. Funny thing is, all of them are designers.

btw, I do love Fictitious characters tweets. LOL
As long as they are funny. I still wanna work on that Twittermovie.
Anyone would be interested? I’ve got too many projects lying around.
And I need cash. <- this is a plea for Ad revenues.

  • Yu Aoi Film Discussion – Tokyo! – Shaking Tokyo

Woah, long time~ Has it been two months already? Well, I thought since One Million Yen has come out (finally!) with English subtitles on an “official” release, that I’d give this a push. I know most of you would have seen Tokyo!, Hyakuman-en and Honokaa Boy by now, but we’re trying to space them out because there hasn’t been any new project announcement since Otouto, which opens this coming January.

In the meantime, you’ll have to enjoy these things.

    Here we go~~~

    Something about the film:
Tokyo! Is the short film anthology by Michel Gondry, Leos Carax and Bong Joon-ho, in which they tell three different stories related to the city.

    Genre: Drama
Starring: Ayako Fujitani, Ryo Kase, Ayumi Ito, Satoshi Tsumabuki, Denis Lavant, Julie Dreyfus, Teruyuki Kagawa, Yu Aoi, Naoto Takenaka
Segments: Interior Design (Gondry), Merde (Carax), Shaking Tokyo (Bong)
    Duration: Nearly 2hr

Below, overall film and Shaking Tokyo minor spoilers~

  • More Yu Aoi for Club Keiba CM and Ads

    You’ve seen this.

I’ve found a new Club Keiba CM, plus photos — and also decided to post other Club Keiba printed ads. Club Keiba should be paying me for this post, but I’m an idiot. LOL

  • Ooh la~ Actor Spotting: Osric Chau

    Osric Chau

If I talk about interesting faces on screen while watching 2012, I should be talking about Osric Chau, the monk practicioner — How do you pronounce his name? I have no idea. At the moment I’m saying it with a thick Scandinavian accent. LOL He is 23 going on 24 (born on July 1986) so we are practically the same age! He’s also Canadian! From Vancouver!

And that photo is adorable, but apparently he’s an exceptional martial artist, and shared the screen with David Carradine and Daryl Hannah on Kung Fu Killer.

He’s also got a website! Not a very good one — is that Bradley Sans I’m seeing? — but you can contact him and his management from there. There are also photos and some updates. If he googles himself, I hope he ends up here. LOL — Hey, Osric! How do you pronounce your name?

  • CatchPlay Taiwan for One Million Yen Girl with English Subs!

    YesAsia keyword alerts suck. LOL

CatchPlay Taiwan has released One Million Yen Girl with English Subtitles on Region 3, if anyone is interested. I will wait a month or so, in case a Hong Kong version shows up — though both would be Region 3 DVDs. In any case, I need to make a bigger order if I want to get it.

If you enjoyed One Million Yen Girl, you should buy the film =D

you know, to support Yu’s career, and that whole “she can carry a film on her own” concept.

Plus, it’s English subs, man!!! You need to be supporting Yu Aoi English Subbed projects~

  • Dear Yu-chan~

It’s been like year and a half since I started fawning over you and the work you do. I feel like we’re on -chan terms by now (joking, joking). But please, PLEASE announce a good project for next year already. And I mean it like a good substantial (not like Honokaa Boy) role, and not a magazine batch. xD

I love your Photobooks, but you’re making me broke. LOL But if you’re working on a new PB, please PLEASE work with Yoko-san because you two work your magic together.

If you want to work on some series, I would also be happy. xD

There’s only one place for fandom in my life (if there were more, I wouldn’t work… sleep, eat or do other stuff) – and right now, Family Outing is pulling my strings hahaha, so hurry up! xD You are lucky I’m not particularly too fond of Hyori-unnie’s music. LOL

  • Dear Hyori-unnie~

I love how you mean-girl people.

I just finished trying to catch up on Family Outing because Diana and I are meeting to watch the latest episode, and I hope to get together for some KFood as well, because every time I finish watching the show I get hungry. No matter if it’s 2am and I’m supposed to go to bed.

I saw the Farewell episodes, and the two episodes welcoming the Park Siblings. I miss Savage and Lovable Ye-jin-unnie, and Chunderella. Ye-jin is so efficient, right? How can they fill up those shoes?

Please, Hyori-unnie, keep on mean-girling people. You remind me of someone I haven’t talked in over a year, and I don’t even know where this person is to send an “analog” letter, because apparently my Digital Design friends are mostly analog now. Ironic.

Hyori-unnie, keep wearing those glasses. They suit you, and not everyone can wear them. Keep wearing sweats and slacks, and be sporty… also, keep picking on Jaesuk-oppa ‘coz it’s just too funny to watch.

Also, piece of friendly advice. Don’t mess around with scandal… or, to borrow from you “You Die”.

  • Jim Carrey’s Got a New Website~

    jim-carrey-website

First, I have to admit something. I used to find Jim Carrey kind of attractive. LOL – There, I said it. I don’t care, most people I know don’t read this blog anyway. Hahaha. But Julz does, and I know she’ll probably have a field trip with this. She will either admit a crush too, or point it out from here on to make fun of it for the rest of my life xD

Anyway… website talk! I haven’t fully navigated through it because, either my internet connection is REALLY and I mean REALLY slow today, or this website weighs a ton because it took me 3 refreshes and more than a 2-minute load to just have the website appear. I mean, seriously~~~ 3 refreshes for the loading page to appear?

But still, I like the look. It’s pretty. I know. But navigating through some of the sections, I just tried clicking on stuff, but things took ages to load — I mean, I know. I get it, the transitions are nifty. But I don’t like waiting for my transition to load, you know? Waiting and then find out it’s just a transition?

Check it out yourself at JimCarrey.com

Will navigate through it later in the night, or over the weekend. Hopefully, it’s just my internet connection. How can it be? I hate telephones and mobiles, but can’t live without the internet. xD
