Archives For joe odagiri

I was watching La Maison de Himiko the other day and my heart was struck once again by how beautiful Odagiri Joe is. I don’t think it translates too well in photographs, but his face on a movie screen while he’s doing his acting magic. It’s so alluring.

Here he is in some photoshoot for Korean 1st Look.

You would have to forgive me as I don’t really follow Ayase Haruka’s career, but she did kinda win me over when she played Saki on that freaking successful jdrama known as JIN [1][2], which got me to give a peak to Ayase’s pop culture oeuvre — Hotaru no Hikari, which okay. No, I couldn’t digest it. So forgive me if I’m late to the party, but- OMG! A WHOLE FREAKING YEAR! 50 episodes of a girl that likes guns? In a period setting. I love it.

Plus it’s got Joe Odagiri at some point in the show.

Yae no Sakura (八重の桜) might be actual must-watch TV (with worthy wait of subtitles) for, at least, ten episodes.

I haven’t actively looked for Yu Aoi fan-made videos in a long time, but here we go~ I hope this one doesn’t get deleted, coz we’ve been suffering from that a lot lately. Regular Yu Aoi film footage applies, with nice additions of Tamatama, and Otouto… though, Raiou would have been nice to have.

Oh, my gosh. I love Weibo. Not only do I get to see post such as this [1, in case you can’t see it], I also get to find out stuff xD. Plus, dedicated streams to Yu-chan stuff.

I get to semi-talk to other fans too.

It seems Yu is also promoting J!NS’ Air Frame — which are apparently super duper light. In the previous CMs (which are plain Air Frame ones) with Joe Odagiri and Chiaki Kuriyama [1]. They claim they’re only 10gr. which I guess is pretty impressive considering they look pretty sturdy.

My semi-rimless glasses seem pretty heavy in comparison.

There’s an HD version available but it’s not an official upload so it might get deleted.

Here’s some behind the scenes and a small Q&A via JIJIPress.

Here’s a clip of the Making Of.

Hello to YAM012.

Goodbye (sorta) to YAM PDF.

Hello to yam-mag.com~

Head over, for the last time, to my portfolio to download the latest and last issue.

Ehhh???? Atami no Sousakan End

September 24, 2010 — 7 Comments

I need someone to discuss this. LOL That ending, I did not expect THAT ending. But I like what I’ve been reading around. I like it a lot, without revealing too much – I like the concept of duality. Even more so considering how it ties with Tokyo Jihen’s theme, which let me tell you – could blow your mind.

— EDIT —

All the YouTube uploads are going missing (THANK YOU, SONY >,<), so I’m just going to embed this Youku no-so-sync version because it’s the only one I’ve been able to find. In any case, here’s a Portuguese subtitled version on YT.

Please, let the explanation of the # mean that there will be a second season~~~

Also, Japan! WHY NO OFFICIAL SUBTITLES? The 8eps DVD collection is priced at over $150USD – considering the Yen’s so high compared to dollars now – and no subs? Oh, really?

Sponsor of Heiwa Fansubs will have to do – google “atami no sousakan” and watch the show – they did a great job at subtitling this… in a time when I was uncertain this show would get picked up by any group, they were our saviors! Thank you Heiwa Fansubs~ Please, don’t stream the groups’ subtitles.

This is what I’m currently watching… on the air. Nothing to do with keeping up with any programs, though I should really find some time to watch Lost, True Blood, and still need to catch up on Mad Men S3. But alas, my Dead Like Me box-set just arrived – I didn’t know it came with the tv movie xD – so I guess I will be watching that the whole month.

– The Big C – for Laura Linney… and I love anything Showtime, most the times.

Didn’t love the pilot, the commercial I posted had pretty much all the funny parts… but I liked the interactions. My favorite line was that one with Gabby Sidibe. About being skinny and a bitch, or fat and jolly. Coz it’s so true. LOL

About:
Laura Linney plays a woman diagnosed with… what appears to be final stages of some cancer. She is considered boring by her son and husband, but wants to be the one staining her sofa with juice/wine. She also wants to eat onions, LOL Plus, her brother needs to take a shower. xD

YES!

Japanese Rock/Jazz Fusion Tokyo Jihen (Tokyo Incidents… but Jihen sounds so much cooler, right?) will be in charge of the theme song on Satoshi Miki’s upcoming drama starring Joe Odagiri and Chiaki Kuriyama. It seems like they were chosen because leader Shiina Ringo is popular among staff member — I’m already liking the staff members.

The song will be called Tengoku he Youkoso (Welcome to Heaven), which will be available for mobile music download on July 21st, and regular download a week later on July 28th – with no physical release.

Even more excited about watching this. xD

Two of my favorite people are teaming up with one of my fave Japanese directors for a new drama for Asahi TV. Joe Odagiri was set to star on Atami no Sousakan (熱海の捜査官, Atami Investigators?), a series directed by Satoshi Miki (Turtles Swim Faster than Expected, Instant Swamp) that will start airing on Asahi TV on July 2nd (Friday) at 11.15pm. And now, Chiaki Kuriyama (Kill Bill) has joined the cast.

Now… wonder, is anyone subbing this, or am I watching this and figuring out the plot as I go. LOL

I dunno why I posted July 2nd
it starts July 30th

Dear AfterElton,

I love that Taye Diggs topped your list of Top10 Men of Color, and that you also included Ricky Martin. Though, I still wonder… really? Eddie Cibrian? Anyway…

I like that you tried to include 1/5 of Asians… but there’s too much Asian hotness in the world to only count Daniel Dae Kim (from Lost), and John Cho… it just makes it seem like you know two Asians in the west.

So here is a list of Asian male that I’m pimping so you could check out for future editions. I would be more than happy (and I’m sure my friend Julz would also be happy) to contribute weekly or monthly posts of Asian hotties on AfterElton.

So… in no particular order…
