RIP Miramax

January 29, 2010 — 3 Comments

Well, not a death particularly.

But it’s a sad day as Disney (who bought them for only $70M) has decided to shut down Miramax.

Yes, that same Disney that keeps feeding us with ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, cancels Pushing Daisies… and gave us Miley Cyrus to rot the minds of our younger generation.

Miramax gave us The Piano, Reservoir Dogs, The English Patient, Shakespeare in Love, Chicago, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Clerks, Doubt, There Will Be Blood, Gone Baby Gone, Happy-Go-Lucky, Le Scaphandre et le Papillon, No Country for Old Men, Kinky Boots, Finding Neverland… just to name a few.

Good taste is dead. *sighs*

Behold!

Nominations are done!!

It’s actually kind of exciting, even if not that many people sent nominations. However, it’s actually a really great way to hear about all these many other films that people mentioned so many times, and I knew nothing about.

Of course, if more people had actually sent nominations, the experiment would’ve worked better. Maybe next time… so watch many more films this 2010, so you can participate next time around.

Two months worth of films to close the year,
let’s hope 2010 brings loads of good ones…

*tingles* The newest look at Burton’s version of Alice.
Does it give you the chills?

By the way, have you checked SyFy’s miniseries version of Alice?
You will fall in love with Hatter. So… hawt. He will ask you to go
back to your world with him, and you just gotta say yes.

OMG. This is so bizarre. Someone took the time to make these illustrations of Disney’s famous (or not so famous) princes (or even not truly princes). A series which include Aladdin, Eric (from The Little Mermaid), David (from Lilo & Stitch), Hercules, John Smith, Prince Phillip, Tarzan… many more and…

Prince Edward? Omg, it’s James Marsden! LOL

I think Julz is going to be VERY happy.

The National Board of Review named Up in the Air as the best film of the year. And like the Examiner mentions on its article… is this backlash against Mo’Nique’s refusal to promote the film and piss on her Oscar chances? Woah, that’s like a mafia. LOL

Clint Eastwood was named Best Director for Invictus, but like The Envelope says… Eastwood is a NBR fave. It really IS like a mafia~~~

Say what?

I’m really pissed right now.

The Annie Awards (that’s the best animation awards) just announced their nominees, included for Best Animated Feature are, of course:

  • Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
  • Coraline
  • Fantastic Mr. Fox
  • The Princess and the Frog
  • The Secret of Kells
  • Up

Yup. That’s it. Say WHAT? Where’s Mary and Max?

You mean to tell me that THE best animated film of the year doesn’t get recognition from its own medium? Yeah, whatever. These are the awards that declared Kung Fu Panda better than WALL-E, so maybe we should be talking about actual technical animation than actual film.

The whole list of nominees is here.

I was never a huge fan of Toy Story,
mainly because I find Woody and Buzz very annoying…
they have their moments, but overall – not very likable to me.

But this trailer is so sad. xD

It’s so sad when we gotta grow up, and move on.
Think of Christopher Robin and Winnie Pooh!!!
Imaging having to tell someone you care that you
can’t come and see them again because they
must go on living. Aww, saddest.

Continuing with the Multilanguage dubbing~~~
Something reminded me of Winnie the Pooh,
and I ended up finding a bunch of clips in different languages.

My big cousin was a Winnie the Pooh fan.
I bet he still has his teddy. xD
Don’t you, Bruce?

Oh, you love them. I know you do. LOL

It didn’t start with Britney, but I’m gonna pick on her just because I don’t want to search and post common photos of Denise Richards back in her Wild Things days. LOL

Britney Spears - Baby One More Time

There’s an article, by a dude that talks about this… again. Is it misogynistic? Regular fantasy? Wrong, right? Where do you draw the line? Continue Reading…
