  • So Sue Me, Head Over Heels~

Sorry, I’m not going to defend Head Over Heels– it’s a pretty lousy movie… (the trailer is dreadful) but I’ve seen it like a hundred times on TV and I always laugh with it. Even thogh I like Monica Potter and she looks really pretty in here and Freddie Prinze Jr. was super cute and totally crush-worthy, I just keep coming back for the model jokes. Physical and dialog model jokes.

I really like how Shalom Harlow’s face shows on photos [1] [2], and I guess Ivana Milicevic’s acting career isn’t too shabby either.

And OMG, China Chow looks so spunky with that hair. Head Over Heels needed more China Chow. especially prancing around with the other models and telling Freddie Prinze she had a black belt to then back off. xD

head over heels female cast complete

Why is it so freaking difficult to find a high resolution still of China on this movie?

  • Susan Lenox vs. Possessed – FIGHT!

    garbo crawford susan lenox possessed

Both films featuring Clark Gable, released in 1931, and having a leading lady of rather humble beginnings that manages to rise to the top using her… er, skills. Of course, both Susan Lenox and Possessed have very different results. Though the cinematography in Susan Lenox is quite sublime at times — the whole introduction was marvelous with the shadows — I left rather disappointed by the end of the whole movie.

I’ve come to prefer Joan Crawford on screen~~~ remember, I got into her after I saw her on Grand Hotel, which came in the Garbo bundle. I was just left mesmerized. “Who is this woman, and where has she been all my movie-life???” So I do think Possessed edges Lenox by a pretty long thread. Despite its weak resolution, Possessed still holds itself pretty darn well. But even I must admit, I feel Garbo’s magnetism oozing from this still… even more so than I do with Crawford.

So… to me, Garbo on still. Crawford on screen.

  • Remember, remember~ It’s the 5th of November… again.

    v for vendetta

Remember remember the fifth of November
    Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
    Should ever be forgot…

  • Yu Aoi for TBS/WOWOW Double Face

I wanted to use “Yu Aoi Double Face-ing for TBS/WOWOW Infernal Affairs Jdrama” but I thought it was a little extra too long with the information.

So I was checking IMDb, and there was a new credit I didn’t know about, and since I’m not subscribed to anyone’s feed on Japanese entertainment news, and my sources haven’t been as active as they used to, I had no idea what it was about.

The show titled Double Face both Teruyuki Kagawa and Hidetoshi Nishijima will be airing both in TBS and WOWOW — one subtitled Sennyu Sousa Hen (Undercover Investigation, TBS) and the other Gisou Keisatsu Hen (Police Disguise, WOWOW) — with Nishijima starring on the TBS version while Kagawa on WOWOW’s. The gig is that it is inspired by Hong Kong’s Infernal Affairs, and will have you watching both as they are the same story but from different perspectives.

So maybe if you’ve seen the movie, it won’t be all that interesting — but from the broadcasting POV, it’s an interesting project. I don’t think it’s been done before, has it?

Yu-chan will play a role in the WOWOW version, while Wakui Emi and Atsushi Ito will have roles in both versions, and Kadono Takuzo will play a role in the TBS version.

I wonder if anyone is planning to fansub…

  • Political Rant: We Hunted Him

Because he’s the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So, we’ll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he’s not our hero. He’s a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Dark Knight.

And hunt him they did. He’s our silent hero, our martyr, and he doesn’t care because he knows his purpose. His ardent supporters will keep silent, and they will shed tears on his demise. And if there is justice in the world… however long it may take to get here, he will be remembered.

He is the hero we didn’t deserve, but the one we needed back then. We hunted him down because he could take it. He’s our hero AND our silent guardian. Our protector, our very own Dark Knight.

  • Yu Aoi for Madame de Sade

    Look what I found!

Yu-chan is going to be starring on the play Madame de Sade, which… I’ll just copy/paste the info I found because I’m lazy. LOL~ I know, I know~~~ But I compensate by adding all the dates on the Yu Aoi Google Event Calendar, alright?

  • Hikari Mitsushima for NHK’s The Pioneers

Oh, I guess I gotta watch NHK all day to get fed all their upcoming series — at least for January. We all knew that Kenichi Matsuyama would be doing this year’s Taiga (Time really does fly!), but who knew Hikari Mitsushima (Love Exposure [1], Sawako Decides, Villain) is ending up on NHK?

The Pioneers, which is wayyyy easier to type than Kaitakushatachi (開拓者たち), showed a small clip while I was watching and seemed pretty good. According to Tokyograph:

A special “documentary drama” mini-series to commemorate the launch of its BS Premium channel and the 40th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic ties between Japan and China. […]

The story is set in the region formerly known as Manchuria and is based on the groups trying to resettle there in the years after the Manchurian Incident. The central characters are a family of four siblings who live there, but who are forced to flee due to the Soviet invasion of the region and Japan’s defeat in World War II. As a result, they return to Japan and attempt to forge a new life on a farm in the Tochigi prefecture.

The clip looked really good. We all know Hikari Mitsushima is a pretty good actress and this seems to be one of those projects. But as anything Japanese, no clips online to embed so I stole these:

  • Yu Aoi Old Goodies – Nearly Blasts from the Past

Hey, guys! I got you more stuff from Weibo!

I don’t know if it’s because I’ve actually never actively search for stuff related to Yu’s performance as Desdemona in Othello, but I just ran into these photos of Yu-chan in that play she did years ago circa her Welcome to the Quiet Room days.

I also ran into some of the old snaps she took while shooting The Lost World, which if you recall she was all secretive [1] [2] when she visited my South American turf. I’m sorry, I’m toooooo lazy to split up those images.

  • WOWOW’s Shokuzai Stuff

I got some Shokuzai pics used on the official WOWOW site.

It seems like only the first episode is going to have Yu-chan in, or at least that’s what I got unless all this “First chapter” business on Yu’s photo means nothing.

  • My 13 Most Iconic Movie Images

Nick, over at Anomalous Material, did his list of 13 Iconic Movie Images (for him). I thought I would share mine here since things have been a little on the weak side lately.

I dunno exactly why 13, but… it suits me fine. It gave me room to include things I wouldn’t have included in the first place. I’m surprised I cut so many from my Top10 Fave Films, but I did manage to squeeze half of them in. LOL I also set myself two rules… no black and whites, or animated films. ;O

    So here we go~~~
