Solar Roadways

Well, this is an exciting project~

Solar panels on the road!

My first reaction to it was, of course, to wonder whether that would be sustainable and durable. Cars (and trucks!) driving by solar panels every single time? That’s apparently the first thing in people’s minds, so they’ve assured us “Solar Roadways is a modular paving system of solar panels that can withstand the heaviest of trucks (250,000 pounds).

And things get even more exciting~

They have many other features as well, including: heating elements to stay snow/ice free, LEDs to make road lines and signage, and attached Cable Corridor to store and treat stormwater and provide a “home” for power and data cables. EVs will be able to charge with energy from the sun (instead of fossil fuels) from parking lots and driveways and after a roadway system is in place, mutual induction technology will allow for charging while driving.

It’s basically a giant led screen -that charges itself- on the floor for signage (no more painting and paving!) and heating for snow and ice! I wonder how it does with floods and scorching heat, though. Imagine the system going down after a massive rain or overflowing of a nearby river… tropical storm or tsunami. Or the overheating of the floor, ending up in flames or melted shoes (or tires).

Did I ever tell you about the time that my sneakers melted when I was doing sandboard?

Still… imagine the possibilities if done right.

Let’s give a warm welcome to child actress Hamada Kokone (濱田ここね, with English transliteration of her name “Cocone”) — I wonder if I can call her Coco-chan xD~ ANYWAY, debuting in film Oshin, she just rode the film like a pro.

According to her profile, Coco likes sea grapes (haha, with Latin name “Coccoloba uvifera,” get it?), plums, dried herring roe, Chicken nanban and Thai food. She also likes 2NE1, Lady Gaga, Cyndi Lauper, Carly Rae Jepsen and Big Bang. Like a boss~

She can also pull at your heart strings and make you cry when she’s trying to make it through her character’s life.

On March 20th, 2004, I watched Good Bye, Lenin! Though my rekindling didn’t happen until last year, I feel it’s somewhat an important day. Plus, I had my Vancouver ticket, so why not? I didn’t prepare anything special, though I was thinking of re-watching the movie. Turns out I’m kinda movie-busy until the end of the month, so I doubt I can re-watch anything.

But I went image web-hunting :)

My cable operator did some shuffling, adding Fox’s Mundo Fox into the line-up (it shifted the Fox Life schedule, and now it sucks), but they’ve been pimping the new channel addition quite hard. The current commercial running includes clips of all the Fox Latin American productions they’ve done, including Tiempo Final, which had Manuel Jose Chaves.

OMG, I had the biggest crush on him when De Pies a Cabeza [1][2] was airing. Just watching the intro of the show makes me giddy. He didn’t turn out bad.

He’s just seriously damn cute when he smiles.

I’m a sucker for a killer smile.

Korean girl idol group Piggy Dolls was making a comeback — after the quite catchy and makeover-ish The Girl that I Know (아는여자) [MV], which gave a terrific hair style to singer Lee Ji Yeon — only to run into the video for Ordinary Girl (보통여자) [MV] and see that I didn’t freaking RECOGNIZE ANYONE! At first I chugged it to maybe having actors not on the MV, but apparently- yes, they’ve changed all members.

I don’t even know why bother keeping the name of the group. It’s just lazy management and creates an even bigger image problem. And here I was looking forward to Ji Yeon’s latest makeover. Though I must admit, her hair color and shape was perfect the last time.

I don’t think anyone needs more than a few words on this [1].

Remember when this was standard?

I think I’ve seen Ai Love at least three times, and I really like more when we get to focus on Zhao Wei’s storyline, even though most of the stories are pretty good. But with the re-watches, Zhao Wei’s character gets extra good. EXTRA. The camera sizzles when Mark Chao is in proximity of her, then smacks one on her and she slaps him.

And, of course, Zhao Wei does her ‘sexy’ funny dance with a cast hidden behind the door frame. And she aches, and she’s embarrassed, worried, nonchalant, pissy and a total ditz.

I look young. My older cousins, who are just a bit older than JeA is, still see me and still tap me on the head. I still get carded. When traveling or meeting new people in general they always ask me about school… and I don’t mean it like asking about university. They ask me about high school or wonder what I’m choosing to study at university.

I graduated from high school ten years ago (gosh!).

I usually look at people on movies or tv shows, watch their music videos, [1] and I think people… look like contemporaries of mine. When I google them, however, I’m surprised some of them are five or ten years younger than me. It’s crazy. So because I tend to look at myself and think of my age, my expectation of how young people look is skewed.

Strangely enough, JeA still surprises me.

Starting out, I thought she was older than she is. Mid-thirties instead of early. As the years go by, she seems to be getting younger and younger, though. In this promo photo for the Brown Eyed Girls comeback (YAY! Comeback!), JeA looks like she’s 16. It’s nuts. 14 if you consider the giant teddy ages her down. And the pout makes her maybe a year younger than that.

It’s crazy that with my skewed view on how ‘old’ people should look, JeA manages to look half my age. And what’s funny~ if we ever meet in person, she’ll probably be able to boss me around. Coz that’s her presence. xD

Also, I’m psyched about the new album. I’m lukewarm on the Recipe single, though.

Ohmahgosh~ Nounen Rena

I remember how it was. The introduction to NHK’s newest morning drama played and I wondered what happened to Jun to Ai, I thought Asadoras lasted all year — I guess not. Anyway, the intro to Amachan seemed pretty funny, and of course it was. Apparently, it was written by Kankuro Kudo, so I stuck around for an episode. Aki (Nounen Rena) had forcefully decided — against her mother’s (Kyoko Koizumi) wishes — to become an Amasan. A photographer had been shooting pictures, and Kyoko Koizumi was running off to Koike Teppei’s lighthouse screaming “HENTAI!!!!” and he apologized for it LOL. I was laughing too much already.

Then, of course, I saw Nounen Rena’s funny face when falling into the water, and her funny expression when she was not-so-much as deep-sea-diving, but she was stranded in the middle of the ocean. I wasn’t hooked, but I was peeking my interest. Damn, Nounen Rena is so charismatic… at least in the role of Aki.

I want to see some of her other roles to figure out whether or not this charisma is hers or if it’s the role, and if it’s the role… then maybe she’s one hell of an actress. She seems super dorky too, and she has an aura that you kinda just can’t help but to root for her.

I have a feeling I’m never writing that “ø” in Bolsø ever again. I’m not even typing it. But damn, I was impressed with Ingrid Bolso Berdal while watching Flukt. She really made the film for me. You remember how many chills I got from Charlize Theron in Huntsman? Watching Berdal as Dagmar was downright chilling. She’s like a total badass Theron.
