  • Doona Bae for Prestige Hong Kong

    doona-bae-prestige-hong-kong

Here’s a great interview with Doona Bae where she talks about her beginnings as an actress, what her most cherished film project is, what was it like to do Cloud Atlas without knowing how to speak English, her close relation to Lana and how she “gets” her acting, and how she wants to do a Stephen Chow movie.

Oh, and why she doesn’t like to use makeup when acting.

Here’s the link to the Prestige Interview.

I’m a little sad that her presentation at the Shanghai Film Festival got cancelled because of MERS, but I totally understand the measure. Also- Yay! Sense8 got renewed, so I’m getting myself more Doona. We all love Doona Bae.

  • Yu Aoi’s The First and Last Time of Love Talk for MEKURU

For the latest volume of MEKURU Magazine [Facebook][Official Website], they are holding a special on Yu Aoi who will be turning 30! I’m not sure what’s gonna be in there (Japanese being rusty and all), but there’s gonna be an interview and (maybe?) photos by Kawashima Kotori (川島小鳥) [Portfolio], who apparently is an Ihei Kimura (木村伊兵) awarded photographer for his book Star (明星) [Amazon JP].

It’s titled Aoi Yu, Saisho de Saigo ni Ren’ai o Kataru (蒼井優、最初で最後に恋愛を語る) — you’ll have to forgive my des and nis translations.

They’re totally selling it like a direct sequel to Travel Sand. xD

There will also be a poem by Shuntaro Kanikawa (谷川俊太郎) titled Aoi Yu (あおいゆう). Among other stuff I can’t make out, it’ll include 128 pages and will be listed at Y907 Yen. It’s available on Amazon JP and HMV JP.

  • Perfection for Vogue China’s 10th Anniversary by Mario Testino

I’m trying to wrap my head on the fact that Mario Testino photographed these Chinese perfections- (From Left to Right) Zhao Wei, Liu Wen, Carina Lau, Fan Bingbing, and Tang Wei. Li Bingbing, Du Juan, Zhang Ziyi, Chris Lee (Li Yuchun), and Zhou Xun.

Celebrating 10 years of Vogue in Mainland China.

Note, though, that Carina Lau (sitting in gold on the far left) is turning 50 this year. I’m just saying. She’s at least 8 years ahead of Li Bingbing (sitting in gold in between Tang Wei and Zhang Ziyi) and 10 years ahead of Zhou Xun and Zhao Wei. And Carina is sitting below model Liu Wen, who is 27. I’m just saying.

    Carina Lau deserves our respect.

  • Missed these Yu Aoi Nov’14 Interviews

Oh, man~ my Japanese has gotten so bad. Or at least, my non-food related Japanese. I ran into these interviews Yu-chan did to promote the release of her last interview-PB Yu Diary book, which includes the nugget that she almost quit acting at age 23. But please, feel free to guide me through all these chunks of text.

The other interview includes info on the process of making the book… as well as these three photos of her.

  • Zhao Wei Sizzling for Marie Claire and Chen Man

For some of her last photoshoots, photographer Chen Man (known for some mad photoshop wiz magic) has been toning down her post processing, and this latest issue of Marie Claire China featuring my bias Zhao Wei is proof. I always think Zhao Wei looks super hot, though.

  • Faye Wong for Elle China’s 26th Anniversary

Wait, what? Are you telling me Faye Wong smiles in pictures? [1]

Faye Wong graced the October cover (in three versions) of Elle China for the 26th Anniversary, with a photoshoot by Chen Man. She’s always glorious when shot by Chen Man.

You can check more of the photos and a brief (Chinese) interview with Faye at the Polysh. I tried the Elle website, but it’s not happening for me.

She also has two new songs out this year [1][2].

Only ONE of them can make it to my list. I need translations of the songs for that. At the moment, Fleet of Time is winning… mainly because I liked translating the title with such nostalgia feelings. lol

    Better quality photos at Fashnberry.

  • Li Bingbing for l’Officiel China Oct’2014 by SunJun

Li Bing Bing looks all regal in this shoot for the just-around-the-corner issue of l’Officiel China under the magic lens and post mumbo-jumbo of photographer Sun Jun (孙郡). See, I’m trying to be a good fandom blogger. With a quick search, you’ll find SunJun’s Weibo and Portfolio.

  • Vidya Balan as Mother India for CineBlitz

I obviously didn’t know about this cover because it predates my Indian movie journey… but it’s just so damn good, you gotta put it out there, you know? Mother India is so the quintessential Indian movie that every single person (in Peru) that has ever spoken to me about what Indian films they’ve seen, they’ve all name-checked Mother India. Regardless of social status… university professors, business owners, bloggers, taxi drivers, waiters… they all name-check “Madre India.”
