doona-bae-van-damn-sense8

Are you following Doona Bae on Instagram? I don’t have an account, but of course I made my way through the RSS feed. Also, did you watch Sense8 [español tambien] already? Did you fall in love with Doona all over again? Because I did.

Well, this week has been an active Tabu week~ first, news that Rekha had backed out of Abhishek Kapoor’s Great Expectations adaptation, Fitoor, and having Tabu land on the gig. Then the hindi Drishyam team teased a shot of Tabu in cop get-up in prep for the release of the trailer (my gosh, the movie promotion machine these days). I think they also announced Manoj Bajpayee’s and Tabu’s upcoming film Missing [1], while putting in on the table that Tabu will be playing Katrina Kaif’s sister in Fitoor and not a crazy aunt. Ha, they look nothing alike. Reminds me of Chinese movie-casting.

Phew. I think I covered my basis.

Tabu is going to eat people alive on that set. I know Cuaron’s version is not very popular, but I love it.

I’ll champion anything Vidya does. This goes hand in hand with her Mother India cover!

I randomly ran into this amazingness of 2013 that I had never heard a peep from. Why wasn’t this viral? It’s weird for people, it’s super funny, and it’s got dancing Ahyis~

I couldn’t find much info on it, a search for Puffy Peng heeds no results, so I’ll add the Chinese characters in. The song is… I suppose in Taiwanese (?) and has some bits of dialog in Mandarin, and is possibly your dance routine next time you hit the (super)market.

It also spawned this mash-up of Beyonce’s Single Ladies.

I think… in contrast to last year, I might be liking Dum Laga Ke Haisha much better than movies like 2 States or Queen. It’s modern like those two dealing with issues, it’s got as strong acting (though Queen had the disadvantage of foreign acting, which always tends to be the weakest link anywhere in the world), but it’s much fresher in style with its honest 90s Bollywood throwback. And thank you gods that there was no bumping electro-dance disco song.

It’ll need to simmer, but it looks good for YRF at the moment.

Damn, Christina Aguilera sounds pretty good as Cher and Britney. Her Shakira sounds a bit Cher-y for my taste, but her yodeling sounds legit. But apparently, it’s pretty big news that Christina does old school Britney better than Britney herself because my mother came over with an already set comment on this before I showed her the clip.

Thing is, Christina can do voices, BiBi does gestures [1].

I think it’s been a long time since people saw Nicole Kidman being so damn cute, funny and… I suppose, relaxed. In some strange parallel universe, there is a Nicole Kidman that has been giggling for the past ten years with her alternate universe relationship to Jimmy Fallon.

If you didn’t like her, Fallon made you like Kidman. If you don’t like him, she made you like him.

Crowd Lu’s back! Two years after his military service with Natural Is Best (天然的最好, Tian Ran de Zui Hao) as a Happy Chinese typical Crowd Lu type of music to say goodbye to 2014 and welcome 2015. It’s a digital single (so I suppose there’s no album… yet), but there was supposed to be a concert in Yangming Shan (陽明山).

Actually, Crowd had released Becoming a Man (大人中) [clip] back in March, which you can get on iTunes.

Anyway~ Happy holidays, everyone!

In honor of the release of Haider today/tomorrow and me not being able to watch it until it hits the DVD/Bluray shelves… or EROSNOW (or someone else) decides to VOD it early or *cough*… I had been curating a YouTube playlist of all the music sequences -choreographed or not- (and item songs or special apperances) in Tabu’s filmography, which has resulted in a list of over 83 clips (est: 6 hours) from Tabu’s participation not only in Hindi films, but also Telugu, Tamil… and the random Malayalam clip that I was able to find.

The list has time to expand with rarer to find clips, I suppose, including (at least) one or two more clips for Idee Sanghati, as well as other regional movies that aren’t on YouTube. There are also clips that are included in their dubbed version (with the original title and the language they’re on), because the original audio isn’t available… as well as repeated clips in better resolutions than their “official” uploads.

Tabu made a Telugu movie released in 2008 called Idhi Sangathi (sometimes romanized Idee Sangati or other variations without the ‘h’), which has been nearly impossible to locate even though Telugu movies are usually on YouTube (though sometimes dubbed in Hindi). In the case of this one, they haven’t even uploaded a single clip of any of the songs nor a trailer (in YouTube).
