Since I got my computer back (and found a set of hindi fonts too), I’ve been playing around with a basic Rani Mukerji Fake Criterion collection. I decided to skip Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, but include Aiyyaa. I actually like the movie a lot more than I initially did. Plus, it’s not a supporting role, so it beat out roles in Yuva, Bombay Talkies, Veer-Zaara, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai or Talaash.

Fake Criterion Collection: Rani Mukerji - Aiyyaa Fake Criterion Collection: Rani Mukerji - Black

Fake Criterion Collection: Rani Mukerji - Laaga Chunari Mein Daag Fake Criterion Collection: Rani Mukerji - Paheli

Serious dramas lend themselves out for cooler Criterion covers, though I must admit that I liked the disorder in the Aiyyaa cover. And I have to apologize for the Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, I just couldn’t think of any particular symbol from the movie… but at least I got to test out that new (tricky) hindi font.

I think I might do a Sanjay Leela Bhansali set.

I still think Paheli deserves a bit more than its current 6.8 IMDb rating, though I’m pretty sure it’s gone up a couple of decimals since I first rated it. I just don’t know why it was so difficult to find this clip of the ending credits song, Phir Raat Kati, which translates to something like Then the Night Passed. It sorta tells you a story throughout the song, and the choreography is super fun while not being your typical Bollywood number.

The music in the movie is also pretty good, with lyrics by Gulzar.

Too bad it’s in this pretty bad quality clip, though it’s better than the good rips of the credits with the small window.

Not exactly new talent, but just discovered~

Jamyang Dolma (降央卓玛) is a Chinese singer, though I’m sure people would identify as Tibetan (for the obvious folk roots in her music, as well), who has been featured on CCTV programming. I’m pretty sure she would identify as Chinese or Chinese Tibet, otherwise she wouldn’t be featured on the channel. She’s also done her music school at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music [1], where all the famous people in the industry have studied… including famed Super Girl Chris Lee [1][2] ;P

And lately Chen Bing [1].

I just sorta fell in love with that song That Day (那一天), which is included on this 2014 album called Golden Calling II (金色的呼唤 II), which you can preview on Xiami, while some of her stuff is also available on iTunes.

We’re still being pumped for Haider [1][2] with an (short) interview Tabu is doing with Rajeev Masand about the apprehension of playing this part, her choosing the role, and how her ‘brand’ of acting is most often remembered for her seriousness. Though I still owe Hera Pheri a rewatch, I don’t think Biwi No. 1 classifies as one of Tabu’s movies, she’s hardly in it! I thought Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiyaa was funnier, though Kelki Dave stole that movie out of everyone.

The funniest bit is, of course, when it’s pointed out that she refused Vishal’s offered with a “I’m not playing Shahid Kapoor’s mother,” while bursting out laughing.

She also admits that maybe she’s just lazy to pick films, so that’s something else she has in common with my Yu-chan fandom, apparently. That’s why there will be no other one quite like Joan Crawford. I’ve been re-connecting with Yu-chan, I’m having such fandom conflictive feelings.

Ugh, I love these guys together.

Soooooo much.

I finally get the LOEN 1theK thing re-brand. WON-DAH-K, Wonder K? Right? Too slow? Didn’t care much maybe? ANYWAY~

SunnyHill released the first part of their Sunny Blues album (which is pretty good), and have just released one of them videos where they teach how to dance for Monday Blues, but they never seem to time that release to an ACTUAL Monday. But still~~~ SeungAh is being ridiculously over-the-top Aegyo cute. I can’t seem to resist it.

How can this be dork, cute and sexy all at the same time?

I felt kinda okay-ish when the song was leaked a couple of weeks ago, but now I kinda have started to really like it. Marit Larsen’s I Don’t Want to Talk About It shall be included in Marit’s 4th full-length studio album titled When the Morning Comes [1].

I wonder if it will be available in Amazon. I think it’d be sad to discontinue my Marit album collection, even though -according to my records- I’ve shifted 99% of my music activities to stream and downloads. With a record of just one physical album released in 2013 (which was a special gift I got).

Last night, I got the chance to watch a Nora Noh documentary, simply titled Nora Noh. She is Korea’s first fashion designer to ever put on a fashion show in the country. There were some highlight comments, like when Seo Eun-young points out all these Korean celebrities are trying to ride the Korean Wave, when the wave has already been ridden by Nora. Way back when there was no wave.

There was also the comment on Korean pedigree when paying foreign creative directors, makeup artists, photographers, models, etc. more just for being foreign, when they all have talented people in Korea.

I need to gather my thoughts~

And though the docu has an official poster, I played around with some photos… because I got my computer back.

That would be… a triple poster~

I preferred the single sketch poster (3), I think.

Since I was kinda lukewarm with Season 2 of The Voice of China, and the format of the show seems to have expanded… and I don’t have my dad to watch with, I haven’t been following this year’s season. Just reading Cfensi’s recaps. xD

Also, there’s not as much variety of music genres and voices like in the first season. However, I’m always game for someone who wants to sing Mayday, because as my dad would note… there is a certain flare to Mayday’s music, as well as Ashin’s voice (plus composition skills!). Nobody can really do Mayday’s music like Mayday can.

But damn~ Chen Bing (陈冰), aka. Kiki, does it pretty well.

I’m not sure about being Kiki Chen, though. And it can’t be plain Kiki, because there’s Kiki from Milk@Coffee.

You can also get the clean song on Xiami, because those damn The Voice special effects can get in the way.

Gotham Awards - Uma Thurman, Mira Nair, Tabu
So this is where that photo comes from,” was the first thing I said when I ran into this photo of Mira Nair celebrating her Gotham with Tabu and Uma Thurman. You can also get a sense of how tall Tabu is when she’s not dwarfed by Thurman, who officially is 1.81m but maybe taller (plus, heels). And it’s not because Uma is leaning to one side either, ‘coz on this pic where she’s much closer to the camera or this other more general shot, she’s not dwarfed either.

Also how sweet is Tabu with Ang Lee?

And… I can see where Tabu gets her stern look. I’ve seen her complain about journalists and paparazzis not picking better photographs for the posts and articles they write on her, and from the short time I’ve followed her, I can see what she means. It’s like when CCTV picks photos of John Kerry. LOL

Having said that… Screening photos are such a waste of time coz they always look like horrible snapshots because these things are never lit, so you get all that harsh light of the flash bulb.
