Archives For Television

The 60th edition of the Primetime Emmy Awards will be held on Sunday September 21st at 8/7c – and hopefully will be broadcast in Latin America by either TNT (latin america) or Sony Entertainment Television… but if you’re in America, just head over to ABC for it.

Anyway, that’s a little less than a month away… in the meantime, you can head over to the ABC Emmy website (click here) – where you can vote for two of your favorite memorable TV moments in the Comedy and Drama categories~~ (that means one moment for each category, people). In there, check the menu… you will notice the “memorable moments” section where you can read “comedy voting” and “drama voting” ~~~ knock yourself out with it. I am hoping you can vote for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer moment in the Drama category, from the episode The Gift… which could’ve made a GREAT ending, if the series had ended there~~

Loads of funny moments in the Comedy category too… like the Ellen moment when she comes out (and Laura Dern hugs her), and the I Love Lucy bit one… which had me laughing. Lucy always gets me laughing like a maniac. LOL

Kobe Collection - Juri Ueno - Aug 2008xD Oh yesh, they do~~~

Now that Olympics are over, I can slowly return to my current obsessions… so I stopped by the forums, and *le gasp!* How did I not find out about this sooner????

Juri-chan won Best Supporting Actress at the 57th Japanese Drama Academy Awards.

YAY! GO FOR JURI! OMEDETTO GOZAIMASU!!! ^+^~~

Also, seems like Last Friends swept awards by winning Best Supporting Actor for Ryo Nishikido (WTF? I need some Eita lovin’), Best Directors, Best Script, Best Drama, and BEST THEME SONG~~~

Go Utada Hikaru!!! Hope you have a fun party with Kuma-chan xD

You can read a little bit more about the results in the Juri Ueno Live Journal Community. They also have the awesome photos of Juri’s last public apperance at the Kobe Collection, which happened yesterday in Japan… just click over here.

OMG, are you watching?? I can hear millions of Asian girls swooning~~~ Wang Lee-Hom and Bi singing Beijing Beijing Wo Ai Beijing!!!! Poor Kelly Chen… who? Where was Guan Zhe, though??

Wo Ai Beijing - Lee Hom Wang and Bi Rain

American-Chinese musician Wang Lee-Hom, and Korean musician Bi (Rain) perform together Beijing Beijing Wo Ai Beijing in the Closing Ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics

Are you waiting for London? Eh, No~ What the heck was that, London? That looked more like a Superbowl half-time entertainment than an Olympic closing performance. We all love some Beckham… and some people love themselves some Leona Lewis and then some Led Zeppelin… but that was just so anticlimactic.

Anyway, going back. Closing ceremony was not as HOLY-CRAP-CAN’T-BELIEVE-THAT-I’M-SEEING-THIS, but it was pretty good. LOL’ I am still swooning over Wang Lee-Hom and Bi together….

I think one of my favorite parts was when the performers made the Olympic logo, because I’m so-oh-in-love with Dancing Beijing… unlike the ‘unnamed’??? 2012 London Logo. While watching the whole London Olympic sequence, I couldn’t help but think about school Motion Graphics. Yes, sure… aim at young people, but don’t alienate the older viewers. My mother sure didn’t appreciate that~~

Dancing Beijing - Memory Tower

Performers make the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics logo, Dancing Beijing, on the Memory Tower.

Moving on… again! Placido Domingo made an apperance! He sang alongside Song Zuying (which the dude on TV made sound like ‘Son Su Jin,’ which made me think she was Korean).

Hmm… will look for photos. Photos are everything… or at least a video clip. Did you swoon? Lee-Hom Wang and Bi deserve my swooning~~~ I hope you swooned!! xD

**EDIT** 8.54pm – Found some photos!

We (meaning me) interrupt your Olympic and Photobooks posts (finally) to report that Korean-American comedian Margaret Cho’s VH1 reality show, The Cho Show, will be premiering next week on VH1 (America, obviously… I’ll just have to find it online), Thursdays at 11pm.

Lucky for us… AfterElton.com has a full ‘sneak peek’ of the first episode, Korean of the Year, where Cho battles the idea of accepting or not the award of Korean of the Year… The episode is divided into 4 parts, no commercial breaks~~~ I think the parts I laughed the most were Part 3 and 4.

If you don’t know who Margaret Cho is, what the hell is wrong with you? xD Cho is one of the funniest people I’ve heard, though her humor might not be for everyone… she’s funny once you get used to. I first discovered her by watching a YouTube link to her comedy act, I’m the One that I Want ~~~ xD

I just love Margaret’s parents~~~ and her imitation of her mother! xD

OMG, Are you watching? Countries are showing up at the moment. I woke up at 6.30am to watch at 7am. And did the Chinese disappoint? No, they didn’t~~ The Chinese did not disappoint with their first hour. All orchestrated by Zhang Yimou, it was the stuff (suck it up, Spielberg… suck it up.) – Yes, love Zhang Yimou’s visual style… flying performers, lights~~~ LOTS of lights, people with lights on their clothes, projections… human-Chinese-painting…. that was amazing!!! The loads of drummers, the dancers, the giant canvas… the representation of the Road of Silk, the calligraphy, the Taichi demonstration with the uber cool banners with digital displays in synched with the movements of the choreography. The human Bird’s Nest stadium surrounding Lang Lang… the stuff~~

If I find a digital file, will do captures~~~ *EDIT* (12.36pm) video should hit the net soon~~~

And the rumors of Jay Chou with Celine Dion? Dunno… I was super surprised to see Sarah Brightman and Chinese singer Liu Huan singing You and Me. Maybe Jay and Celine will sing later on. We will see~~

Could you have imagined a duet between Sarah Brightman and Faye Wong??? Orgasmic performance of eclectic energy that would’ve been, would’ve taken you to the Ether~~~ Sarah Brightman singing was the hotness, she looks so young, and her voice was so powerful. And was she singing in Chinese? *scribble: must find lyrics and song*.

Word has it that Brightman is the sole international star performing in the event, so that would mean Celine and Jay was just a rumor, or that Jay will be holding it on his own.

Stay tuned.

Holy crap! Did you see???? Did you see the final race for the Olympic flame????? DId you see the digital projection of the race above all?????? How awesome was the igniting of the flame? Like a super gigantic firework *WOOSH* and then all the fireworks.

China delivered, China was the shit to watch today. Craziest, fanciest, exhuberant Olympic Opening EVER. Art, art, art, art *SWOON* – Now… London’s got tough competition. LOL Beijing Olympics are just beginning, but will London deliver next????? Could they deliver more?

I found photos! Nifty photos than the ones being used by the press~ xD

Slowly, I have been noticing that Flixster is one of my favorite and most used, if not THE most used application I’ve got going on my Facebook profile. It’s not that I love their website, but I like how handy it is on Facebook (I’m still an IMDb user at heart xD) Continue Reading…

8.8.8 – Will you be watching? At 8:08pm~~ Be sure to watch, coz word has it that it will be spectacular. Also, word has it Jay Chou will be performing… will his vocal ability match Celine DionJay Chou‘s????

Apparently, Faye Wong was asked to do the Opening Song (a la Bjork, NE?) – Anyway, she refused… so they held a contest of sort… all very confusing to me. In the end, Jay Chou is singing~~~ obviously. Will you be watching him making faces… looking all cool and mumbling? You know, like in the S.H.E video?? Ha!

Moving on! Aside from all the controversy…. *rolls eyes* I am very impressed with the marketing that China’s come up for the Olympics. First and foremost, I am sort of… in love with the logo. Dancing Beijing by Guo Chunning.

Beijing Olympics Logo - Dancing Beijing

Dancing Beijing by Guo Chunning

There was a WHOLE spread on the issue of Communication Arts of months ago, read it all… devoured it. I am tempted on scanning it, LOL’ And the mascots! Maybe it’s my overly-occidentalized brain, but I thought their naming was smart. BeiBei, JingJing, HuanHuan, YingYing and NiNi… you know, as in Beijing Huanying Ni – Beijing Welcomes You~~~~

Beijing Olympics - Mascots

Another reason to watch? Zhang Yimou~~~ his films are visually stunning, so it only promises visuals and colors! *SWOON!* ALSO~~~~ How awesome is the new Beijing National Stadium – aka. Bird Nest – My mom thinks someone smoked of the good one when making up that concept. When it was under construction, I told her it looks sort of like a nest, and she didn’t believe me. xD

NatGeo… or was it Discovery Channel? Someone was showing an hour special about its construction. Niftiest thing ever, and I don’t even follow architecture. The budget was around $500M USD… which is like $4B Yuan, and the design was the winner of a contest xD All very architecture stuff~~

Sad ER – The End

August 2, 2008 — 2 Comments

I recently found out ER is ending! I remember watching ER back in the day… I’m still missing Dr. Green, and am I the only missing Dr. Romano???? Am I the only one that screamed when the helicopter fell on him??? I know he was a prick sometimes, but he was a good doctor.

I’ve sort of watched the show on and off…. more off than on, but the episode that stuck with me the most was the one were Lucy Knight died. All in the Family, I remember seeing it as a youngster~~~ Totally bawled my eyes. I miss Lucy~~~ Kelly Martin, I’ve seen her on a Hallmark thing the other day… I miss Lucy, LOL’ Lucy and Dr. Carter should’ve gotten together xD That scene lying on the floor after being stabbed, and them looking at each other… GAWD, heartbreaking.

What’s the saddest ER episode you remember?? I also bawled like a baby when Dr. Green died, and Carter was reading the letter. You all must think I’m a big wuss crying in everything… but I don’t usually do. But family and friends sad moments get me the most. I’m the one who laughed at my friend in the theater when we went to watch Moulin Rouge. Satine dies in Christian’s arms, my friend bawls like a baby, and I’m mocking her for sniffing.

Okay, maybe I can cry in private. Part of the bedroom acting experience. Ha! So what’s your ER sad moment?

I had heard about the Nikkan awards of some sort, which are supposedly based on popularity… and well, I don’t feel up to typing the list of winners, so I’ll be linking to this lovely post that does and even lists the number of votes.

Last Friends didn’t win for Best Drama… that’s sadness. And I was sorry that Eita didn’t win~~ I mean, no offense to Ryo and his Sousuke… but *sighs* Takeru~~

I also understand Juri Ueno wining Best Supporting Actress, though she deserved a Best Actress. LOL’ xD I mean, did any of you watched LF for Michiru??? Really??? Cross your heart on that?? And poor Asami Mizukawa… she was supporting of the supporting~~ *sighs* this world is upside down, I tell you!!!!
