  • Yu Aoi – Portugirl by Yoko Takahashi – Kodansha

    Yu with braces!!!

Ok… moving on~~ Portugirl is in my hands!! Or actually, on my desk now, otherwise I wouldn’t be typing. HMV Japan is pretty good~ even though they delayed my order, they sent it 5 days ago and it’s here already! And considering I don’t get Free Shipping with YesAsia anymore… also noticed? Prices are higher in YesAsia now, for example Portugirl would have cost $20ish bucks more with them. Should you be doing YesAsia now?

    Anyway! Here it is!!!

Proper fan-ish review, after the break~~~ For a ‘pro’ review, you’ll have to wait. LOL

  • Oh, Simple Shoes! For I Have Found You!

I tend to buy stuff… depending on the stuff – I tend to buy more (dvds, cds) than regular people, or less (clothing, shoes) than regular people – in fact~~ I can probably buy a dvd/cd a week, but I tend to buy clothing once or twice every year or two. Truth be told, the last pair of sneakers I bought was last year  (expensive Fluevog boots in 2005, and 2 pairs of Converse in Shanghai in 2004) and that was because my 2001 Adidas are really REALLY used up… and even then, I prefer using that 2001 model than the new one. In my belief, the new Adidas I bought (which look pretty similar to the 2001 ones) don’t measure up to them. Sure, they are fresh… but won’t measure up to different weather conditions.

  • More Pricey Items

You know how I complain about the prices of regular items in Japan? Well, yeah… $30USD seems a bit too much to me, who has hundreds of albums and hundreds of DVDs. – You could say I have a pretty small fortune… 75% of all those items are probably not collectibles, but who knows… perhaps one day they’ll be rare items. Doubtful, but could happen…

Anyway, whenever I’m zapping and happen to catch Incurable Collectors (Coleccionista Incurable) on A&E, I think about the items I store away in my dusty room… and the ones my mom decided to give away *rolls eyes*

For example, I found this Franz Ferdinand signed copy of You Could Have It So Much Better from 2005 – nearly $150USD – It was, in fact, signed when the group performed in Vancouver and they had a signing session in HMV (used to be Virgin Mega Store). Does that mean I also have a worth $150USD signed copy of the album? NIFTY! And my friend (who went with me) has the companion signed VIP access pass.

Of course, we can get crazier than that… take John Lennon for example! A nearly $14K signed Sgt. Pepper LP, or… a John Lennon photograph by (and signed by) Robert Freeman at $12.5K, or… this John Lennon print at $5,5K,  or a Yoko+Lennon Lithograph at $5,2K, or this REALLY cool Rolling Stone Lennon portrait by Ronnie Wood at $1K.

Still think you’re a crazy fan? LOL’ or are you intimidated a bit with those prices?

You know, just for kicks… take a look at these Greta Garbo items just because I like her so much.

This 1st Edition by Mary Webb which was read by Greta Garbo and signed at nearly $10k… yes, just ‘coz she wrote that. Or… this photograph that includes a letter (signed) to Garbo’s lawyer at nearly $3.5k, or simply this Garbo letter at $2.5k, or if you want to get simpler than that… you can always just buy a photograph of Garbo at just $695USD.

I wonder if… if I had the money, would I try to buy those items??? Would you buy pricey items and collectibles if you could afford it?

  • Lily Chou Chou – Kokyu Re-Issue

So this totally slipped my mind! I got the re-issue of Breathe!!! The Lily Chou Chou album from the Lily film by Shunji Iwai. The first time you see the film is so SO difficult~~ it’s such a hard theme, and characters you just want to slap around. I was a kid not long ago, and I felt so disconnected from THAT reality… yet, the film. You go back to it, and absorb it. The visuals, the music… it’s heartbreak.

Salyu, her voice~~ I fell in love with the soundtrack. The album is an experience all on its own… perhaps more than Salyu’s other albums. It’s the film, it’s because the album is strongly connected to that reality that it works so well… perhaps, a bit poetic. It’s THAT magical. At least to me, and to all the people that had bought the first issue of the album~~~ and maybe the reason WHY it was re-released.

I just want to know, from the people that bought the first run of copies… is it the same as the re-issue? Or has something changed? Hence, the re-issue credits in the album (including a re-design credit) ~ your thoughts?

  • More Modelling Me

Of course that’s rotation. LOL’ The story is that remote, I need. You have no idea how many photos were of me touching the floor or about to jump because I couldn’t calculate when I should jump.

Comments are welcomed here. I’ve got another one that turned out very Kpop, but that one I’m ashamed to show it off online… or with people that I don’t know. Hahahaha.

  • Juri Ueno – Ao Akua by Yuichiro Kobayashi – GOMA BOOKS

Ao Akua arrived this afternoon! – Book is the cutest thing ever. LOL’ Tinier than I expected really~~

Juri Ueno - Ao Akua - Cover

Though, I don’t love this PB as much as I love A Piacere, mainly because I was a tad bit disappointed on the photographs. Don’t get me wrong, there are a few great shots, but a lot of snap shots too~~ What I love about this one? I like the concept, and the fact that there’s a companion DVD.

    More after the break.

  • Me in Red~ Jumping, and Bumping my Knee

    LOL’

Yes, I hurt my knee doing this, but still~~ was kinda fun. What you think?

I also need to get a remote control for my Nikon D70s, anyone has any good suggestion as to what I should get? It’s hard figuring out when the timer will go off, jump and get a good shot… also, going back and forth from camera to spot to jump – so NOT FUN.

    Comment me here, xD

  • Yu Aoi + Yoko Takahashi = Portugirl!!!!

OMGOGMOGMGGMOMOGMG. I just died of excitement. *laughs*

I haven’t been to Yu Aoi’s website in a while, and not only did I find a new ‘news item’ but also a new ‘message’ – they were announcing the release of Portugirl!! Yu’s NEW PHOTOBOOK!!!!!

OMG, I’m so frakin’ BROKE. =.=

Yu Aoi x Yoko Takahashi - Portugirl Photobook

And  the PB just went on sale on Saturday… according to the website. March 14th ~ which is NOT TODAY anymore. However, the Amazon.co.jp link I found shows the ‘pre-order’ button, instead of the ‘add to cart’ – not like I’m buying through Amazon *laughs* but just something to point out.  Also~~~ HMV Japan has it listed with another title.

Should I test HMV and not wait for YesAsia to list it? I have $5 off my next YesAsia purchase, but that could expire before the book shows up there~~~

Anyway!!! Best thing ever~~~ Yu’s back with Yoko *laughs* – to quote Yu on Travel Sand. I LOVE Yoko-san’s world. ALSO… when did Yu got time to visit Portugal??? Yo, girl~~ I’m telling you… you should totally visit this side of the world, and I’m not talking about Venezuela or any of the Guyanas xD

  • Three-Year Friendship Anniversary, Julz!

Yo~~~~~ I’m pretty sure it’s not March 8th yet in Sweden. In fact, according to my iPod it’s barely 9pm there at the moment, but hey! we’re here to celebrate!! Celebrate that faithful e-mail you sent 3 years ago! Wow, how much you’ve changed and evolved, Julz~~

Truly! Most improved! Remember? You didn’t know how to call avatars, let alone make them~~~ Now! Now you run your OWN website… make graphics, and are all over many things Asian. Very very amazing~~~ you’re Singing in Korean (Colbert joke in here) xD~~~ Of course~~~ singing in Japanese! And you are about to witness Japanese Entertainment industry’s history~~~~

    Julyssa & Amy
Was this T-Centralen? July 2007? xD

    Loca!!!! Happy Friendship-versary!!! LOL’

  • Rookie of the Year Award for Yu!!

Yu Aoi - 2009 - Rookie of the Year Award CeremonyRookie? LOL’ I don’t think she’s a ‘rookie’ perse but okay… I’ll take it!

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan has named Yu (in the fields of Media and Fine Arts) their Rookie of the Year Award (Movies).

On why they are giving this award to her, they talk about her debut on the Shunji Iwai film All About Lily Chou Chou, and her steady career throughout the years mentioning Hula Girls. They also mention her work on One Million Yen Girl the past year, as well as her natural talent. Finally, they close their paragraph saying that Yu’s future is expected with much anticipation.

    Or something like that…

Also named there in the field of Public Art, Shiina Ringo!!!! Like… Rookie?? Again~~

    Sorry, no photos~~

*update March 30th* – Added a photo from Yu’s site.

*update May 20th* – Added a link to video. Check it out after the break…
