  • I want more McDull!

    LOL’

I confess, I saw “McDull, the Alumni” because I saw a clip of Bibi, and thought it was hilarious. My first thoughts? To tell you the truth, the film is really really REALLY weird. Firstly because it starts out with some peeing contest bathroom humor – because it’s supposed to be a “double feature” but whatever~

If you actually skip that part, the film is better.

Then they tell you the story of George Washington, played by McDull and his mom. George Washington liked to chop stuff, so one day he chopped the soy chicken!!! Guilty he went to his mom and told her “Mah, I chopped the chicken.” His mother in return told him that what he had chopped wasn’t chicken, but duck. LOL ~ Turns out, McDull is a series… and this is what happens when you just watch the films. LOL

McDull, the Alumni is the third film in a series of McDull stories~~~ starting with My Life as a McDull, and followed by McDull Prince de la Bun. LOL But of the three, Alumni is the one that has to do less with McDull. Moreover, a 4th McDull film titled McDull, Kung Fu Kindergarten is set to open in Hong Kong in two weeks time (though apparently it already opened in Mainland China).

McDull… or Mak Dau (in Cantonese) is the main character. Mak Dau is a little pig with a dark spot on his right eye. On the day of his birth, his mother wished for him to be intelligent… no, no~~ a businessman – no, no~~ how about as handsome as Chow Yun Fat or Tony Leung? xD But in the end, she only wishes her son would be lucky in life.

So that’s how McDull starts the journey of a pretty unremarkable life. He’s not the most handsome, he’s not bright, but he gets by~~~ dreaming, trying, failing, and trying once again.

On Alumni, McDull does a crossover with real life, as the Spring Blossom Kindergarten is celebrating it’s almost 50th anniversary, in which they will be celebrating almost 50 years of educating almost 50 years worth of graduate students who have now become pillars of society.

    McDull, the Alumni

    Awwww, aren’t they cute?

  • Okay, This Is Too Much~ David Tao’s Opus 69

First, Bibi (who loves David Tao, and now shares record company with)
    Then Seo Taiji~~~
Now turns out David Tao’s about to release a new album called Opus 69-
I’m lacking the oxygen to process any spazz~

Three years in the waiting!! LOL

    David Tao - Opus 69

And I love the almost pretentious name explanation, Ha!

David Tao comes back with his new album in three years titled Opus 69. The number in the title references a number of things, among which is that it’s the singer-songwriter’s 6th album and 9th CD. Besides, David was born in the summer of ’69, and the symbol of his zodiac sign, Cancer, resembles “69”. Moreover, in the ancient text of I-Ching, 6 and 9 symbolize “change” and “rebirth”, and the numbers when pronounced in Japanese are similar to “rock”, which is what this highly anticipated album is about!

Damn! Check out the pre-orders in YesAsia.

Have you noticed I’m very Chinese at the moment? xD

  • The Fantastic Mr. Fox Trailer Looks Wicked~

Not Coraline or Alice in Wonderland wicked,
    but still worth watching~
And it’s filled with celebrity voices…
like George Clooney (Mr. Fox), Meryl Streep (Mrs. Fox), Michael Gambon,
Willem Dafoe, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman, Adrien Brody
Brian Cox, Anjelica Huston and even Wes Anderson who is also directing this
    stop-motion animated film… hmm,
do I see a new Best Animated Feature nominee here?

  • Hmm… Maybe It’s a Good Thing~

That I don’t longer really support Western music?
After all, one might risk being sued even for sampling work before thinking of buying.

I mean, you do get a drive before you get convinced of getting a new car.
I can, after all, also ask for my cousin’s car for a drive…

I admit it. I don’t buy as much stuff as I used to, but can you blame me?
I was a 17-year-old with my parents’ credit card access…
I bought a lot of crap. A lot of crap that I don’t use anymore, but keep
because it’s money. So do you blame me for not wanting to buy more crap anymore?

What did I just get? Three albums, and one DVD (two, if you count the one that comes as extra)
All Asian products. These cost more than regular American stuff
so I need to cut back even more on stuff I get. LOL
so only top-rated or fan stuff make it~~~ xD

From the things I just got, it’s two Faye Wong albums which I downloaded last year.
DOWNLOAD. Now I’ve bought them as imports. Cost even more money. LOL
However, they’re very awesome albums, and worth buying.
I’m also looking for a copy of To Love, and almost lost money
while trying to purchase from eBay.
Then… the crap I’m not buying and people are suing for? Not so much.

I also bought Bibi’s Time album that comes with mini PB and DVD~
that’s loads of extras for the price of a regular album almost…
    also… I’m a fan of Bibi… after I DOWNLOADED her music.

I also bought Don’t Laugh at my Romance on a HongKong Region DVD
that comes with English subs… Japan version doesn’t…
I saw the film as a DOWNLOAD.
I’m also a fan of Yu Aoi after I DOWNLOADED her films.

    got the trend?

Yes. Downloading music (or films etc) and profiting from it is wrong. I don’t buy piracy.
Yes. Saying you’re a fan of something you’ve never physically supported is wrong,
but not as wrong… sometimes, people just can’t. Though they should find a way…
opening a fanclub… spreading the word it’s at least something…
No, downloading music is not like stealing a car. Downloading music is like asking your
cousin if you can use his car, just like he asks if he can take your bike out for a ride.
I might end up buying a car, or not… just as he might get a bike, if he finds it useful.

But this industry wants me to buy crap. I’m not buying.

  • New York, I Love You Poster – Where’s the Film?

    It feels like FOREVER.
    Just like Paris, Je t’Aime.
When did I first blog the trailer??

New York I Love You Poster

How do you feel about the poster? Better than the first image, I think. But Paris, Je t’Aime pawns.

Just like before, the collection of shorts has loads of people. Natalie Portman has two shorts in it, one as an actress on Mira Nair’s short, and one directing (exciting!) – most exciting? Shunji Iwai’s short!! Though it’s with Orlando Bloom, Shunji Iwai makes movie magic oftentimes~ And I’ve been waiting new Shunji Iwai films since… since… since Hana & Alice which was released in 2004.

Not like I waited since 2004, since I just discovered him. LOL

  • Feliz 28 Playlist!

More than half the day gone by, but still time!

    Feliz 28~ xD

I made a YouTube playlist for everyone, with a sort of international flavor. ^^
I hope you listen to all of the tracks, because… well,
that’s the way it’s supposed to be, right?

Also… don’t mind the actual music videos, just focus on the music. LOL
    trust me.

    [iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/videoseries?list=PLF1FD4B5D155873C4&hl=en_US” ]

What’s so awesome about this 10-track list?
It’s got 3 different renditions of the famous El Condor Pasa,
lots of international flavor right there!

    1. Miki Gonzales – Tusuy Puquio
    2. 12 Girl Band (女子十二乐坊) – El Condor Pasa
    3. Gianmarco – Hoy
    4. Pedro Suarez Vertiz – Cuando Pienses en Volver
    5. Jean Paul Strauss – Matarina y Mambo de Machaguay
    6. PAPA SARA (パパ・サラ)- CONDORU wa Tondeiku (コンドルは飛んで行く)
    7. Gianmarco – Volvere
    8. Eva Ayllon – Y se Llama Peru/Contigo Peru/Esta es mi Tierra
    9. CantoAndino – El Condor Pasa
    10. Los Nosequien y los Nosecuantos – Tributo al Rock Peruano

  • My Case Against Jane Zhang

    Who’s Jane Zhang?

She’s 2nd runner-up to the Super Girl contest, back when Chris Lee (Li Yuchun) won, and Bibi (Zhou Bichang) placed 2nd. Meaning… Jane was just behind Bibi.

I don’t wanna start anyone’s fire. Don’t want to attack the fans, but some of Jane’s fans online had been very vocal on Chris Lee even calling her “man-woman” – I can’t take that. While Li Yuchun fans are happy-go-lucky… after all, they did win. LOL’ – Some of Jane’s fans can’t keep their comments down.

Yes, I get it. Chris Lee is not the best vocalist. I know that.
But she doesn’t suck, you know who sucks at singing? I do. LOL

First time I heard Jane Zhang was on the Lee Hom Wang album, and I thought her voice was very generic Chinese pop idol. My friend happened to ask if I had heard of her, which led me to find out she’s sung in different languages. I admit, it got me interested… she’s sung Contigo en la Distancia!

    [iframe width=”480″ height=”390″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/fzA5QrlDhec?rel=0″]

Regardless of understanding her Spanish… tell me you did not just see Christina Aguilera’s gestures there? An interesting comment about her accent being and English Spanish accent, instead of a Chinese Spanish accent – because she obviously took the song from Aguilera, and not let’s say… Luis Miguel, or Caetano Veloso.

  • Amy’s July Thoughts

Almost the end of the month.

    and almost July 28th.

First~ Many people who said are collaborating on this issue of YAM have taken forever to either contact me with their updates, or are avoiding my emails. Just a few days to hand in stuff!

Then, I just spent all day talking to my father about event planning, and Asian music. Totally uncharted territory here, and no one seems to care. I care. I want to make it happen! Asian is way to ignored on this side of the world…

I’m also scared shitless about talking to a group of 200 people. In Spanish! I could probably deal in English, but in Spanish is just way to awkward. The only good thing would be that I get to talk about animation, with the risk of getting crushed with fanatics. I’ll just keep in mind to capture the mind of the people who are truly passionate about animation.

I hope it turns out right.

I feel I’ve got no direction in life at the moment. I want to do events, I want to be here but also there~~~ Hopefully, there will be something to combine all of it into one.

    *EDIT*

    btw, Happy Bday, Bibi!!! xD
    She’s 24! :O
