  • More Yu Aoi Bday Shortakes~

I finally sat through Dr. Rintaro and my Yu Aoi fandom has reignited once again! PB-buying and all [1][2]. Oh, yeah~ I had it bad this week. Yu’s personal life has also -all of a sudden- become public domain (or it’s easier to run into it through social media), so it’s been out there for public consumption and mass-devouring. My street kanji-reading is poor, but Google Translate has been calling her names. Demon-woman, what is this? The Dark Ages?

Also- Miyazaki Aoi’s in a new relationship… it seems. *cough*

    yu-aoi-bday-2015

Anyway- Monday was Yu’s 30th Birthday, and she celebrated with a group of people I had no idea were her circle of friends- these are taken from Peter‘s blog, and also feature cross-dressing personality Mitz Mangrove and… I suppose, gravure idol Ruriko Kojima (her kanji name is all funky 小嶋瑠璃子).

    More.

And… I found this random ranking where they ask to rank young actresses based on their talent, and for the first time that I’m able to recall, Yu comes on top of Miyazaki Aoi. LOL So, more power to Yu! Though, Masami Nagasawa comes at #3, followed in #5 by Aya Ueto, Satomi Ishihara at #6, Ayase Haruka at #7, Horikita Maki at #9 and Mao Inoue at #10.

Toda Erika ranks at #4, and I don’t know who Yui Aragaki at #8 is. LOL And there’s no Hikari Mitsushima nor Sakura Ando, so this list is of idols. xD

  • I’m Winging Zhao Wei’s Tiger Mom

… and you gotta wing it like a ninja with all these geoblocking business.

    zhao-wei-tiger-mom

Actually- I don’t think Tiger Moms would approve of winging something, but Chinese skills would need to be improved forcefully because Tiger Mom (虎妈猫爸) ain’t getting subbed nor fansubbed alright, because that’s how C-fans deal. You want to enjoy all these fancy movies, cdramas and cmusic, you better learn Chinese alright~

I feel Zhao Wei encouraging claps.

  • Zhao Wei’s My Fair Princess

I didn’t know My Fair Princess (aka. Return of the Pearl Princess, 还珠格格) was a scoundrel/robin-hood type of princess! I’d would’ve watched much sooner otherwise~ Haven’t made it that far yet, though, I was greatly entertained by the first episode. Action and feel looks 90s China outdated, but I don’t feel like Mainland Cdrama has improved dramatically.

I’m hoping someone fansubs (or at least uploads) Zhao Wei’s newest Cdrama Tiger Mom (虎妈猫爸) [Trailer].

I made a playlist with all the listed episodes.

  • Yu Aoi for Dr. Rintaro Ep01

    o-hisashiburi desu, Yu-chan~

It’s really been a long time since the last time I saw you SAW-YOU, thuogh it’s only been a year since Wakamono-tachi. So much time that your hair is no longer short. LOL I still got plenty of movies to catch up with, but it’s good to see you as an Osen-san-meets-Omoto-meets-Mina type of character. I’m not sure how Dr. Rintaro is dealing with the topic of clinical depression, considering how Asians view mental illnesses… but I’m interested in seeing why your character acts the way she does- is it Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)? Or are you just blowing Dr. Hinorin off xD
Also- can’t complain when this thing happened:

  • Chulpan Khamatova Series

Ah~ I thought I would do a post compilation of the Chulpan Khamatova TV serials that I’ve been able to find on YouTube. Starting with these two~ Children of the Arbat (Дети Арбата) and Pepel (Пепел). I’ve seen Pepel with Google translated subtitles, but I haven’t seen Arbat yet, as subtitles online are incomplete.

  • Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce: I Apologize for Having a Job

    You tell them, Janeane.

I’m totally not the demographic for Bravo, but here goes Janeane Garofalo telling it like it is- like my mom told my school 20 years ago when they “required’ her to do parenting lessons for my catechesis. I’m totally bummed she’s no longer on the show.

    gg2d-janeane-garofalo-1x03-apologize

I apologize for having a job. I’m sorry I make a substantial income to pay for your green-grocer small-batched locally-sourced farm-to-table ethically-butchered hormone-free gluten-intolerant bills, but- here’s the thing; I don’t work, my kids don’t go to school. So if you wanna call and tell me tuition is free, I’d be happy to be here for Story Time, and Arbor Day, and kids court, and snack bar, and talent night, and the Nose-Picking Olympics, and every other bullshit holiday that costs me a fortune. But if you’re not gonna tell me it’s free, then I gotta work, ‘coz I’m a working mother… with a boatload of mouths to feed.

  • 10 Years After As If

    uktv-as-if-still-2

Oh, man. I remember when I used to diligently run the As If fanlisting. Hadn’t even bothered to check on it for the past 5 years, so just deleted the whole thing because it all broke down. However, Pete brought to my attention a two-part piece that Digital Spy has run for the 10th anniversary of the show’s final episode- in their “retro” section nonetheless.

It’s a lovely catch up piece, and it just basically crushes what people had -somehow- hoped for~ a DVD release. Music licensing is just too damn expensive, and the show just relies too heavily on its music. Very much like the Popular conundrum. It’s a good read, catching up with almost everyone. I always giggle (and get giddy) when I spot anyone from the cast in other projects I’m watching.

I *cough* caught the show a very very VERY long time ago. *cough* You know where.

Oh, man. Sooz was my life.

The bad thing is that the show is not readily available… the good thing is that only the really cool people know it. xD
