Archives For music video

I’m not a very big fan of Ayumi Hamasaki, but I remember when I saw this video (and her this song) for the very first time, it held a lot of promise. Sadly, it didn’t. At least from what I was able to listen to~

My limit for sap is through the roof, as I got all warm and fuzzy when I found this song Rene Liu recorded with mah gurls Zhou Xun, Kwai Lun Mei and Tang Wei (whom I’ve just recently warmed up). They’re all super cute and super dork and super sappy together. I love it.

The song is called Wish You Well (我要你好好的), a single of Rene’s latest album of the same name, but it’s one of the last songs to get a video. The song Murmur of the Hearts (念念) [MV] is also on this album. I thought maybe it was for a movie, but doesn’t seem likely.

Happy listening~ DORK AWAY!

Spain vs. Canada – GO!

The birth of the Road Music Video~ or maybe it’s just the Warner re-purpose.

I’ve been hearing Ellen Loo’s name very often for the last three years, but I never ever really took the time to sit down and listen to her albums until this weekend… and wow- I’ve just finally gone through her 2nd album You Quietly Hide Away (你安安靜靜地躲起來), which is a tremendous improvement from her debut Ripples (掀起), which isn’t all that bad either. I particularly liked Wait (等等), Hey Boy, Summer of Love, and Satellite Lover (人造衛星情人).

Ni An An Jing Jing De Duo Qi Lai comes as a surprise. I’m also surprised she sings in Mandarin so much, since my Hong Kong friends are the ones talking about her, I expected to listen to a lot more Cantonese.

Here’s some links: YouTube, Xiami, Spotify, iTunes.

Weren’t all slightly rebellious girls into Pink’s hair? Also, old school Pink is so much more awesome than adult Pink, though we must all grow up.

I can’t ever grow my hair that way, so dyed into different colors- it all looked a lot more like Joey Fatone’s than Pink’s xD

Jin Chi’s voice was one of my favorites from The Voice of China [1], but as with anyone coming from reality contest shows, her releases had been on the so-so side. This latest song called Hao Hao Guo (好好过, which I’m guessing it’s like saying I’ve Lived Well) gave me a lot of JeA vibes [1]. Those two should collab in the future.

Jin Chi’s voice, though, it’s a breaking point. I love it.

It’s only a couple of days more, and the movie will finally open [1], but here’s the Rene Liu song that’s promoting the film full of feels~

I won’t lie to you- I searched for “Naked Beef” first, then for “Beef Naked” LOL

I had been using my wiz google skills to try to find some songs released circa mid early millennium (2000-2002), once that failed a couple of times, I went in deep into my disc backups. After some digging around through old-OLD really purani school files… which were mostly poorly labeled (Hey! I found a Psy and Jolin Tsai tracks with no names downloaded circa 2005), I found what I was looking for et more~

What’s rare and I might post?

  • Amanda Latona – Can’t Take it Back
  • Amanda Mumba – Everybody Doesn’t
  • Ano – 4 tracks of Fruits from the Tree
  • Marit Larsen & Marion Raven – Synger Kjente (or ten tracks off it)
  • Out of your Mouth – Music (Madonna Cover)
  • Tangleroot (20 tracks)
  • The Sunwater Diaries [1] (2 tracks)
  • Capitanes de Lata (the Gloria Maria Solaris children play)

so if any of those search words bring you here, let me know.

Anyway, down the rabbit hole of Amy’s memory lane that included pop, country, r&b, hard rock, metal, electro hip hop rock and what not~ I realized that I have Canadian years gap compared to many of my friends, knowing Canadians bands that had only-Canadian hits between 2003-2006. Out of your Mouth (above), GOB, Our Lady Peace, Billy Talent, Barlow [1] are some…

… and of course I remembered this video of Bif Naked. I knew she was ingrained in my mind because of Buffy, but this video for Tango Shoes and Bif Naked on a tank cruising through downtown Vancouver, Pender St. with spottings of Tinseltown and whatnot. Can’t get more Canadian than that. I remember seeing the video on Much.

Oh, man~ it does take me back.

Though I haven’t made successful contact with Milk@Coffee on Weibo, they’re still one of my favorite Chinese mainland artists, though I feel like they peaked with Give You a Little Color (给你点儿颜色) in 2010. Last year, they released Shine of Memory (时间的光) [Xiami] and though I picked Young Conviction (信仰年轻) as one of my pick songs of 2014 [1], Occasionally Still Think of You (偶尔还是会想起你) is the song that brought the most feelings ‘coz it made me think of my dad (even though it’s totally a love song).

Milk@Coffee just released a music video for it.

My dad’s bday is this Saturday.

The lyrics go something like this:

Occasionally still think of you
in the middle of the night, when people are quiet.
Maybe I’m still not used to being without you.

Occasionally still think of you,
repeating over the familiar scenario-
similarly, I still can hear the sound of your voice.

Crowd Lu’s back! Two years after his military service with Natural Is Best (天然的最好, Tian Ran de Zui Hao) as a Happy Chinese typical Crowd Lu type of music to say goodbye to 2014 and welcome 2015. It’s a digital single (so I suppose there’s no album… yet), but there was supposed to be a concert in Yangming Shan (陽明山).

Actually, Crowd had released Becoming a Man (大人中) [clip] back in March, which you can get on iTunes.

Anyway~ Happy holidays, everyone!
