  • Yu Aoi for Chanel J12 White

I’m starting to feel… as a Yu Aoi fan, that I’m out of a job. Though I’d like to believe that the information I add to the Yu Aoi posts I publish have a little something extra. I mean, I really don’t have any other reason as to why I wasn’t aware of these photos (et more) from two years back. Plus, there are tons and tons of Yu Aoi related Tumblr pages [tag][1][2][3].

However, the craziest one I found was sorekara’s aoi-yu-tagged stuff. There are tons of photos of Yu with her shorter hair in shoots and ads, there’s older photos that I had only seen in tiny version, there’s old photos that I wasn’t aware of. I’m old, and I don’t have the will to get a Tumblr account to follow.

You can’t even subscribe by tags! Anyway~

I couldn’t find the photographer, but this Chanel product placement on the Special section of Vogue’s Dec’12 issue is called 『True White 白という名のモダニティ。』 promoting the J12 White Chanel watch series that costs a fraction of your car (if you use one) — priced between 3.3k pounds to 10k.

Hahaha. I mean, seriously, who would’ve thought 100 years ago that needle watches would become a status symbol.

The concept was that Yu Aoi personifies the concept of the (truthful) pure, modern woman image. And the website is still active, though I had some trouble getting the actual link. And you know what it is with them Flash-based websites, it will eventually go offline- so people took screencaps~

Plus! No one like Vogue to style your fresh short hair.

  • Jenji Kohan for Aug’14 The Hollywood Reporter

Jenji Kohan did a very good interview for The Hollywood Reporter where she talks about her journey as a spec writer, her stints on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Friends, her experience with Weeds and Orange is the New Black. All with a fabulous cover with colorful hair, because, as her mother put it “if you can’t fix it, decorate it.

  • Candid Joan~

I don’t think you get to see this relaxed version of Joan Crawford very often. It’s so freaking rare that she allowed someone to photograph her like that, even if it was for Life Magazine. It’s almost as if early 1930s Joan was back.

  • Sexy Ranveer Singh for Filmfare Jan’14

I’m trying to fight it, but I don’t think I can at the moment. Here’s Ranveer Singh in all his sexy relaxed glory. Interestingly enough, I prefer him with facial hair.

    Like unspeakable attraction right there.

    Also, no photographer credits found.

Also as a Latin American with b/v pronunciation and listening issues, I’m having a hard time figuring out when people refer to Ranbir or Ranveer because people (in India) don’t care for freaking last names. LOL

  • Why Can’t We Have More of This: Yu Aoi + Kim Soo Hyun

I didn’t realize this was THIS old, but why isn’t anything else happening with this much perfection together? Seriously. Nearly three years after the launch of Madfory magazine in October 2011. Three freaking years!

You know you want it- another quirky romantic dramedy by Park Chan-wook starring these two.

  • Nimrat Kaur for MW Magazine

Considering the amount of non-filmi background, it’s rare to run into much material surrounding Nimrat Kaur, who was so fantastic in The Lunchbox. This is a photoshoot by Bikramjit Bose for MW Magazine during the release of the movie.

I hope she gets to do more films, at least one a year, because with that weird Bollywood casting directors, you never know. uh huh~

    More images here.

  • Khamatova for June’14 SNC Magazine et More

Admittedly, I haven’t been hunting enough Chulpan Khamatova news, but I ran into this photoshoot she did for the current issue of SNC Magazine. Apparently there’s an interview to go with the photos (that feature kids from this agency), but I haven’t been able to find a translatable (or scanned) transcript of it.

I also found out them Khamatova fans are really active on VK.

Interestingly enough, I couldn’t find a photographer credit even though I did find the “assistant photographer” Pavel Vedenkin (Павел Веденькин).

Also, I ran into this kinda awesome (except for all the clips of The Sword Bearer) Chulpan Khamatova’s scattered filmography clip that’s not on YouTube. Nothing beats Khamatova dancing… specially in that veggie suit. PLUS! This animated short titled Anya by Damien O’Connor to support Irish charity To Russia With Love, which features -albeit for just a line or two- Khamatova’s voice. Both voices, if you know what I mean [1].

Here’s the rest of the pictures I found:

  • Tabu on Next Filmfare for Haider Promo

… or what I think it’s an upcoming issue of Filmfare, anyway.

    tabu-filmfare-2014-haider

I just ran into this lovely photo from the Filmfare editor’s Twitter account [1][2], and if you zoom into the images, you sorta can read those first two pages. Otherwise, I did a search and found nothing yet. According to the main quote, the most note-worthy thing Tabu said was “Apart from a child, a man can give me diamonds,” which is not, considering that she says she wanted to learn ballet. Now THAT is interesting!

In general, prima ballerinas are thought to be small… though that is apparently changing now that people are taller. Imagine a danseur that is 5’11 or 6 feet tall with a prima ballerina that is only 5’2. If Tabu had problems with her height in an industry that could pull off camera tricks, I can’t imagine if she had follow through with ballet.

Other notable comments from the images were the ones she made about her moving from Hyderabad to Mumbai. It’s interesting because it goes so in contrast to her early interviews. And she hasn’t read Shakespeare. I hated reading unfiltered-yet-translated Shakespeare in school. LOL Anyway, having said all of that, Haider is really one of my anticipated films this year :)

Oh-oh, and she wants to do an action film where she does her stunts. While watching Jai Ho, I wanted her to go all Mama Bear before she had to call Salman- like, THAT would have made the movie actually a lot better. It wouldn’t have made sense with anything in her current backstory, but they could’ve made it work. Tabu just hitting bad guys.

    *May22’14 Update*

    Interview is up!

  • Flawless Doona for Vogue

Flawless Doona Bae is flawless always. All the time. Whatever the onslaught of heavily enhanced new actresses in Korea and across Asia may be, whenever you see Doona Bae’s face, you’ll always know it’s her.

  • Casual 2014 Yu

    It’s been a long time, Yu-chan~

Just ran into this new photo of Yu, still with her shorter hair and looking very relaxed. I wasn’t so into her shortest shorter hair style, but I think this length is perfect if she’s interested in keeping it shorter than what was her usual. I’ve always been jealous of her bare-face gift. She really does look her best with minimum makeup, familiar freckles on sight and all chillaxed.

I’m not sure about the source of the image, but it could be a shot in the May issue of Soup Magazine. Ever since her website redesign, I’ve lost track of her magazine appearances.
